He would be a fantastic competitor in the Korean Netflix show, Physical 100.
I was thinking this too...Crossfit guys win every time

for real. it would be sick if they reserve like 25% of the slots for overseas audition for the next season
@@kiwee4577 they're opening slots for other Asian competitors I heard
Imagine being this guy who humbles both Eugene and Dr. Mike in the same room.
Does he have episode with mike somewhere?
Weird statement. Did I miss something?
"humbles", dude you have some severe online brainrot, I haven't seen any "humbling" they seem to have fun
I mean neither of them are that fit are they
@@mattoniy2840 🫢 they're crazy fit
This is what an actual expert trainer looks like. Listen to way he humanizes his approach to activity both physically and emotionally. Awesome to see Alec featured in longer form content.
This guy's ab training video was great. Thanks, coach Eugene.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Slurp, slurp😂
Over the years, I've been bored and tried new things. Rock climbing was fun. I love hiking and backpacking. Mtn bike. Road bike. Weight lifting. I understand some people are specialized athletes. I'm just a normal person trying to be healthy
@lootom2673 cause the more you limit, the better you can be at the limited thing. That's why people specialize their skills, they find what they're most gifted for and then go as hard as they can for it.
Like I specifically am aiming to be a hybrid athlete in terms of running endurance AND strength training, but I know I won't be immediately good at both, so I started specializing in strength, got to over 200Kg deadlift and squat and am slowly transitioning to running while maintaining strength.
I call myself human for that reason so much fun to be able to do so many activities it would feel so less fun to stick to one thing
@@outstandingveganidk i feel happy with just gym its not like i dont want to do multiple thinghs its i cant because there isnt anything like thats in my country
Really enjoyed this chat Eugene, thanks for hosting!
You're a beast!
Great talk! It's not often that I see something that makes me feel inspired but this really did it in a massive way!
The timing of this is wild! I just, in the last seven to ten days, started incorporating jogging, running, and jumping into my regimen, instead of just walking and hiking x amount of steps. Then, I was walking through the supermarket parking lot a couple days ago and thought I felt a pop in my knee. 👀 I was pretty freaked out, but didn't feel any pain, and I had a good leg day yesterday too, so I think I am good lol. But I will definitely keep the progress slow and steady and not try to get from 0-100 overnight! YOU ARE A LEGEND, EUGENE! Alec Blenis seems like an absolute beast as well; he seems to have been training that brain as hard as the rest of his body, like yourself. Big respect all around.
I usually don't comment, but this podcast was actually a bit of fresh air. The way Alec talks about training, how uncomplicated he goes about it and also his take about nutrition and this conspiracy bullshit with stuff like phytic acid was so great to listen to. In a time where every god damn "athlete" has a podcast and tries to go viral with some new dangerous food or nutrient, this was a pleasure to listen to. Also the way Eugene goes with it, the questions and everything - great discussion, thank you! Really shows how people should actually stop making things more complicated because some uneducated influencer promotes a certain split, exercise or food, because this stuff actually isn't as complicated as people tend to make it. :)
Thank you! 🙏 glad to enjoyed it mate
About 15 mins into this and I just want to comment that this is extremely valuable, I've recently especially been taking a hybrid approach to try and build my cardio especially and this is the first time I've heard people talk about the challenges and confusing stuff that happens when first starting out. Super valuable for me, so thanks!
Thank you! 🙏 glad you enjoyed it
Wicked video!! Would love to see more content with Alec, very knowledgeable & eloquent with a great training philosophy
More to come!
I love that i stumbled across this video. Hybrid training is something that im starting to really look into. I love bodybuilding but i also want to improve my cardiovascular capacity and be more mobile and flexible. This interview definitely opened up eyes to the world of hybrid training! Thank you Eugene!
Glad you found it interesting!!
1:01 yeah... I was nowhere near his level (my longest distances were 36 miles) but I am acquainted with the darkness that starts creeping in when you are done, and you are nowhere near the finish line. And what is important is not food, not the hydration, it's the ability to master the "hurt locker" and just keep going.
Found his content like 1 month ago on instagram and all of it is great from what I have seen.
man eugene, you are such a humble and nice person, it is outstanding
Cool to learn about Alec, seems pretty exceptional 😎
The respect on display is heartening.
Superb show. Well done lads.
Much appreciated!
him and alex viada are absolute beasts
Awesome video! will definitely try out the hybrid program
Hope you enjoy it!
Loved this podcast! Eugene, are these available outside of youtube? Couldn't find it on Google podcasts.
So this is what an individual with zero physical weakness looks like. What a guy 👊
This is perfect for me! I'm running my first marathon tomorrow, and I'm already looking at what I want to do next -- I know that a body building weight lifting split wasn't it, I've been looking at some of the functional kettle bell stuff, but think this might be the way to go!
thats what Im trying to be to be honest, a hybrid athlete. Of course Im not close to Alec or eugene on any of the aspects but main idea is this :D
Really interesting conversation
We're all gonna make it brazzz
Loved the leucine chat around 1:09:00
I feel like this guy is the pinnacle of fitness in my eyes, really good at everything.
The reason you've never heard of him is because he's one of many new prototype actors to come, full of next level synthetics
and stem cell infusions, all sponsored by BIG pharma/elites, and used to promote a veganism of course...
as they are going to destroy all of the meat in the future with a mysterious viral contamination. (coming soon).
- This has gates written all over it.
And for any of you vegan fools who believe this bull... by all means whoof down that soy & berries and run 100 miles weighted, please, I beg you!!!!!! Push!!!! Push harder!!!!!!
I grew up an athlete and then go into bodybuilding. Made it to the Olympia but I was burnt out and bored with bodybuilding. I also became less flexible. I knew I didn’t want to do CrossFit so switch to a hybrid type of training ( still unsure how to program it) and I feel great!
I truly enjoy this guys insight. Very simple to follow and if you research his advice they align well with evidence based research, Case and point the creatine phosphate utilization for recovery. Im 30 years old with 2 kids, 12 hr shift hospital job + Army Reserves. Training has changed over the years for me, BJJ is what I train for being a Purple Belt in BJJ has a lot of requirements for mobility work, explosiveness, cardiovascular endurance, strength, muscular fatigue build up. I run 3-4 times a week 1mile before workout and 1 mile at the end of the workout, sauna work, calisthenic HIIT based work, compound movements (No back squats Im a bitch), some transverse plane work with core focused movements. I do not stretch (some argue you should or shouldn't).
Great. Thanks.
Alec is insane!
This is my coach’s coach!
Definitely agree with the boredom part, I just cannot do the gym thing regularly…. Need some variety!
Love the bouldering project shirt👀
Only 8 mins in but im loving this conversation!
Personally if my frequency on specific movements is too low (less than twice a week), I get super sore. I have to hinge and squat twice a week each, else I will have trouble walking down stairs or sitting down. I'd imagine this dude is sore all of the time if he's not doing the same movements on a frequent enough basis
Or takes a lot of SUPPLEMENTS
Idk i never felt sore going hard 2 times a week my leg day is weighted squats hip thrust rdl and bulgarian split squats
this guy lives by me. always had a sick physique when i saw him in the gym.
Another incredible hybrid athlete is Enkiri Elite Fitness here on youtube.
Crazy strong and do sprints like elite quaterbacks
he's cringe as fuck
I like enkiri he has some amazing knowledge but I don’t think my guy sprints like an elite quarterback lol I’ve never seen his 40 yard or 100m time but he’s def got amazing advice for programming explosive speed work with heavy lifting
A lot of people know Alec. Another cool thing about Alec Blenis is he is funny and doesn't rely on dumb click bait titles like "best athlete"
a lot of people dont know alec
Dude would make the best mountaineer ever. Light and fast and ridiculously strong.
I think people are missing out on the value of dayhiking on trails. Its such a good way of building strength in your legs, get that volume in, move blood around, and theres all kinds of intensities, intervals and ways of using your legs while doing it (picking routes with uphill/downhill or going around the peaks etc.). If I feel like it, after having been out for 4-6 hours, I might jog my way back to the car because I know I can handle the load within this training week, and boredom of being out this long often coincide in some weird way with my fitness level -- if you are not bored, then its a bit too hard. Other times I just go out for a 1 hour jog, but those really really long hikes is a whole other beast. I even branched out to doing one marathon a day and starting to see how many I can do consecutively.
Please bring this to Spotify!
What is spotify?
These bot comments. Lord, give me the strength!
Are you releasing the audio of your long form videos as podcasts on Spotify or whatever?
I find the type of cardio affects my effective zone 2 range. Running is hard on my joints and I can’t hold the same HR for the same time as on a bike. I can push my cardio longer and harder on a bike and recover fine for my lifting sessions.
Born to be a superior athlete.
A man born with the body development to get to his physical level of fitness. 😊
Spot on. Love this guys relaxed attitude. I enjoy lifting. Running. Walking. Swimming. Rowing. Cycling. Yomping. Walking, running with my dog. Used to worry one takes away from the other. Then I had the thought that if I do these things I am and will look like the sort of person that does these things. I didn’t have a name for it. Now I do. A hybrid athlete. Still sounds very Musk / Tesla. Better perhaps a human using his body. That said grateful I have the luck to be able to. So far. So good.
That single stiff leg dead lift is very impressive!
this guy needs to be on Physical 100
This guy is proof that anybody can be great if they put the time in. Ask him to hold a simple planche - but if he trained it he could get it. Get off your butt put in the work quit being distracted by social media and be great at something.
Alec is the only guy that Mario Rios can’t beef about
Mild injuries are a natural part of pushing yourself in any sort of exercise. Even when you do everything right, if you're training for a race and trying to progress, nagging injuries are an inevitability as you build mileage and intensity. Same goes for lifting in the gym. Eventually something is going to hurt a little. You take the time off and treat it with respect. Do what you need to do to heal and then watch out for it the next time.
This man makes CrossFit look good
EMBODYING THE WORD CONSISTENCY!!!!!!!!
It’s the same science as to why so many gymnast could walk on to a men’s physique stage and actually compete. Because they live a certain lifestyle making their muscle break down and regrow constantly. It takes a king time and a lot of dedication though but consistency in that lifestyle is key
soy powder gave me gyno that went when i stopped i dont think it will for all but high soy consumption could effect hormones imo
Wtf is up with alec's being beasts at everything. Alec Enkiri, this dude...
never heard of him, but this dude is insane lmao.
This is completely unrelated but where did you get your drink cup Eugene?!? It’s a beauty
I imagined this entire comment in an Australian accent.
Be cool to have him, Mike Israetel and Kneesovertoes guy on a podcast together
Im 4 minutes I'm and im tired just listening to this guy! Goood lord!😮
I would had added that no, my zone two training is way different than the new runners given them being unconditioned. When the heart is stronger and more efficient, it takes less effort to run faster paces. Short version: a conditioned runner can run faster with a lot less effort than you. Another shorter version. Their zone 2 is faster paced than yours.
A vegan who doesn't talk about being vegan.......whaaaaaaaat......no way!
Loved this talk. Tons of take aways I'll be using immediately
Absolutely impressive man so humble and knowledgeable
my fav video of 2024
💪💪❤️❤️‼️
i did a few of his ab exercises from the last video. still in pain after 2 days and feel every fiber
Dude same every time I sneeze I’m in pain 🤕
14:18 Im 104 ish kg and I bike a lot so my cardiovascular system is fine, but the running, my lawd it feels so awkward and wrong. Its like the first 5mins of running are spent convincing my body that running IS something it can do...
Does this guy have an actual video working out with Dr Mike?I've been looking it up but haven't found it
Please let me know if you find it I have been looking too
I didn't know Thom Yorke was so jacked
It’s simple really,
Dialed in rest, training and diet,
great genetics, consistency, injury avoidance.
Simple on paper, tricky to execute well!
His nickname should be 'Saitama'
Notice he's not exactly super-jacked. He's decently jacked & shredded, but nothing extraordinary/elite.
Which is another example/evidence of hypertrophy training being quite different from strength & endurance training. The former (when aimed at elite levels) is a stupid, useless, mainly/purely aesthetic goal, while the latter are admirable useful & even health-promoting (if done within reasonable limits; not aiming for extremes/uber-elite levels) goals...!
P.S.: For all his achievements & high level accomplishments, he's humble AF!!
is alec training video with RP crew out ??
Um this was um great um thank um you um
Damn impressive, Good to see some athletes that are not the typical carnivore or fake liver king gym bro's.
Not vegan myself just vegetarian or octo lacto vegetarian or whatever they call it these days, I got to have my eggs, milk and cheese but nice to know that non meat eaters can achieve this level of insane fitness, Inspirational.
I stopped eating meat a while ago aswell.
What is your dairy consumption in a day like?
Thank you 🙏
🧬
Is this in podcast apps? Wanna listen but can’t watch.
dont know many guys that can do reverse lunge with 405, specially with his BW. Impressive
Bro looks like Modric and Rakitic melted together …and that’s a good thing
How long did it take to get to this level?
Juiced out of his mind.
I think he is too. Still impressive, but less so.
The hybrid tbing seems to only include running. I never see cycling or rowing
Or swimming
Then add them, if you want. Hybrid is a large umbrella term that could even include carrying as many bags of groceries as physically possible.
Agreed. To a certain extent, hybrid is whatever you make it.
There’s a random guy in Africa that can smoke em that’s the e funniest part. World’s strongest puncher Francis N was just a random African migrant worker. Same for Wilder he was a random dude who picked up boxing.
So does he have a channel im tryna follow de boy
Yeah
@alecblenis
What’s this concept of recreating awkward life/functional movement in the gym? Are you not more likely to hurt yourself in the gym? Because you going to “progressively overload” jumping off one leg to catch a medicine ball out the air to “recreate” catching your baby if they fall?
What you're describing there are the typical sort of gimmick lifts that bad coaches invent and pass off as "functional"; you take an otherwise good lift and introduce a bunch of nonsense to make it unstable. Of course that is a lot more dangerous simply from the risk of slipping, but it also hampers strength and muscle gains as your body won't allow you to maximize force output without stability. What Alec is talking about here is different. He's talking about simply training all your muscles, all your movement patterns, within all ranges of motion. A great example would be the jefferson curl. Flexion is a core function of the spine, it is literally designed to bend, yet the prevailing attitude of the fitness world is that bending your spine under load is inherently dangerous. Instead, what Alec does, and what we all ought, is train that function, with a proper, non-gimmicky barbell lift. Therefore, in situations, whether inside the gym or outside of it, where your spine goes into a flexed position, you now have the strength to handle it without injury or pain. You don't have to perfectly replicate all these scenarios from real life in the gym. Resistance training has a very general effect, that's what's so great about it. If you simply train your body and become bigger and stronger, without neglecting any aspects, you will already be equipped to handle any akward positions life throws at you.
Dude is amazing. He just needs someone to show him how to manage that facial hair. 😁
Is hybrid athlete a real thing? Or is it great marketing by in my opinion BPN? Honest question.
