    All videos small guy versus big guy are always a prevention.. what people want to see is when the small guys under a big guy how to reverse it how to get into a better position what not to give up, etc..

      The answer I always get is "you're too late". Meaning there is no late escape because you've got a behemoth on top of you.

      Lol legendary chael sonnen quote.
      Yeah Marcelo uses spacers against big guys where his speed can be used, if they get pressure it’s big trouble. This is harder to do in gi imo. Good big guys in gi you might have to go underneath versus around due to gi grips…Roger gracie put marcelo in this situation in gi and he didn’t do terrible just not as good
      . Marcelo used x guard stuff again keeping the space with x legs . Backdoor stuff can help against big dudes

    This is an awesome video. I need to watch this once a week for a year...great to see the results of a small guy making it happen in real life. Appreciate you getting him on, Bernardo.

      It will help, to watch this frequently. However, I disagree with watching it for a year. Watch it a few times, then try it out in live sparring. This will be the best way to see how this move will actually work for you. It is crucial to come back to the video to troubleshoot, with the intention of watching for any missed details, and then go implement the changes as needed, and work it out on the mats. Good luck!

      Yeah, I don't want to make it sound like a complaint, but he just showed an arm drag. Goes to show just how much technique can be mined from it if it's usable with such a huge weight difference. I try and arm drag big guys all the time. I must really, really suck at it.

    • @therandomnomad435

      Is a purely striking game, use footwork amd head movements to keep circling him and maintaining the distance. Stay out of the range, and fill the pockets from where they cannot easily strike you. Tire them fast, and when their agility comes below yours, fight them. My cousin brother, 5'6 in height defeated my friend who was 6'2 in height(8 inches is a big difference) by being fully aware of the distance.

    When i have a big guy (even a beginner) in my closed guard, i can not break his posture, he will always bench press me away from him it is very frustrating

    • @lancedartnell9255
      @lancedartnell9255 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My 2 cents, grab the tricep, same side arm ( your left arm grabs their right tricep), when he pushes you away, use this grip to swing for an armbar, to push they need to extend the arm, if you have the tricep, they cant really see the grip and it also helps to pull your hips up for the arm bar. if they defend this by putting weight back down, go back to closed guard, but pull the arm you have across their body and try to sit out to get the back, or sweep, you have their arm across so they cant post, the arm you have, reach to the opposite leg around their shin, grab the gi and use your legs the shin grip to take them to the side in which you have the arm ( where they cannot post) roll the to sweep. 3 moves that should flow and keep you attacking which means they are defending.

    • @therandomnomad435
      @therandomnomad435 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bondjames-bond7664 its a natural fact that when you try to train, you either rely on techniques or on strength. You cant have both together always. Otherwise the only way is to train weak, improve your techniques and when you realise that your techniques are sound enough, slowly start developing strength and incorporate them into your training.
      But that takes a LOT OF TIME. Btw, what's your bjj belt? Im blue, and its the most difficult one lol.
