this was very refreshing! it is nice to see someone whose experience is more "relatable" than the ones shown by serious plant collectors! I love to see huge collections and marvel in the knowledge of the masters, but watching a regular guy, with a more humble number of plants, feels nice and validates us, commoners! haha
Haha, I concur. It's really nice to see plant lovers across a range. Plus it shows that it's not about how many plants you have. No need to feel the pressure of "competition"...you can just love plants and have 1, 2, 3, 4...
Helping him repot his ficus, and also assessing some of his plants and giving advice made me think of a great idea for the future! Whenever it’s safe to go in people’s homes again, you should do a series where you go to the homes of people who are having trouble with their houseplants and see their plants, assess, diagnose, and help them with any troubleshooting (I.e. pest management, repotting, propagating, watering, placement of plants in home based on light).
Yes! I’ve been looking for some kind of “plant consultant” to come by my house and let me know what I’m doing right and what I can improve on. Also help me pick better spots for my plant and help me identify some ☺️ but I don’t know if that service exists lol
Some amusing plant tips...... Q - “Is this a hanging plant? “ A - Yes, it’s a hanging plant, it’s hanging.” Q - How can I get light on top of my plants? A - Tip the pot on it’s side towards the light. Plant pot tipping.....kinda like cow tipping!? Saunder is so chill.
I love Saunder’s comment about hanging out with you it would be inevitable that he would be collecting more plants. He has more self control than he thinks. I can’t imagine what I would be like! lol
Great to have an episode visiting a non-expert to get some 'house plant doctor' style tips. Lots of stuff came up in this that I've not seen in your other episodes so really appreciated that. Thanks for all the videos from Dan in Kew, London!
All levity aside, though, I have appreciated Saunder’s skills since I started following you, Summer. You are so lucky to be accompanied by him in your adventure.
I'm absolutely blessed. The channel wouldn't be where it is (or so enjoyable to watch and listen to) if it weren't for him. Thanks for saying so. He'll appreciate it to know he's appreciated by the viewers.
@@summerrayneoakes so I hv been wondering whose the cameraman or videographer for all yr videos. Those videos were very good quality & professional. Today I got to see him with plants in his apartment. Haha. Thanks Summer Rayne, you read my mind & did upload this video 5 days ago. Btw tell him that he's so cute & innocent. Keep it up! now
I love that you had your camera man share his plants with us. I would have loved to have you come to my house and look at my plants. I think if hung out with you I’d have a million plants, so being a minimalist he’s doing great!
He's definitely more reserved on the houseplant front than I, but before 'Plant One On Me'-he didn't really own any plants! (And we all know what a slippery slope owning a plant is!)
Really enjoy when Sander makes an appearance! You guys make a great team. And really appreciated the emphasis on minimalism. Too often, people seem to get into plants because it’s the trend. Which isn’t bad in and of itself because it’s awesome when people discover houseplants as a new hobby! But sometimes it can inadvertently become a new outlet for our already consumerist culture. So it’s meaningful to hear that message here that you can find fulfillment in only a few plants. And I could tell that Sander definitely does! He knew all their new growths and troubles like his babies❣️
Appreciate your take on the episode. I concur. I sense that when my home went viral in 2016, it really inadvertently fueled people's plant buying habits. What is right for me doesn't mean it's for everyone, and everyone should feel the right balance for them-and that could change over the years. I'm happy to highlight folks like Sander who just want "a few".
Keep at it Sander ... You'll get there ... I had a bit of a black thumb when I started to buy plants ... Now, I live in a jungle ... Keep going man !!! But the video editing, color grading, camera angles ... Cinematic ... You rock !!! Summer, Sander ... Have a great day, thanks for posting ... ✌️😎
It was so nice to get to know Sander and see what plants he grows. I love the trick of tilting a pot at an angle to get more “top down” light! Definitely going to try that with some of my trailing plants!
This is the most down to earth, normal, real life video I have watched in a long time, thank you for posting this, it’s nice to actually see some reality, I love it....and his blue eyes!
This was a fun video, and I think it's fitting to devote the 200th episode to the awesome guy behind the cam that makes the amazing shots on the channel possible.
Glad you appreciated it. Yes, I purposely put it as the 200th episode, but didn't really mention it as a milestone, because with the vlogs (which have different numbers) and the 365 Days of Plants, I have tipped the scale to almost 600 videos. Ooof.
love finally seeing sander and his place with plants. i dunno, i feel like i’d be really nervous to talk about my plants and say something wrong if summer is filming me. 😅
Sander doesn't love being on camera, so coaxing him into the front was a bit more challenging, but I never want to feel as if I'm forcing someone they don't want to do. So thanks for being encouraging to him!
It's been almost 6 months since I have visited anyone else's house because of COVID restrictions, so it was really fun to have a tour of Sander's apartment. Thanks team! 💜🌿
Great video! It's cool to finally see the cameraman. ;-) :-D I like houses full of plants, but i also love the minimalistic. Very nice! (I can't help it to ask: are you two a couple? :-D You're lovely together. ;-) )
❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for entertaining and distracting me. I really like how the dark wall with the hole in it separates the two areas of the flat. It’s such a smart floor plan.
I loved this video! It was so great to see Saunder's plants and also how you guys interact! It was like a little peak behind the scenes. Saunder is also quite funny - perhaps unintentionally, but definitely funny.
This is such a wonderful sweet episode. One can see how you are spreading the love for nature and greenery all around you. Sander may have a few plants but he sure is taking good care of them... Cheers to more plants and plant lovers....
Sander should invest in a large ponytail palm - I have a grey looking room like Sanders' and I feel like it totally made a difference in that room (for some reason they work really well structurally in grey rooms) . Its also great for people who don't like to water their plants often ( I mean I water mine 4 times a year! )
Looks like a good plant collection start. I love the starfish sansevieria (sp) and the zz raven plants. The repotting of the fiddle leaf fig was sorely needed. :) The minimal apartment is perfect for many plants. Thank you for the tour, Sander and Summer.
as a minimalist myself, i really enjoyed this video! thank you for consistently making such great contents! your positive energy and your attitude towards plants & people & and our surroundings really inspire me to be a better person!
I loved how excited he was to show his few plants and there was a jungle helping him showcase them holding camera..real cute😊😊 tilting the pot is a great tip BTW.. 👍
Yes, exactly. Watching your guys video dont make my head dizzy 😆😆 And I just watching this video! How come? Why I can missed out for watching this one. But for sure, I like the most with Sander apartement/home. Simply and clean. No need long time for cleaning. He just have 2 spoon 🤣🤣🤣 Sorry my English not so well, Im from Indonesia. 😁👋
Hi Summer and Sander! This was a fun video! It was nice seeing Sander and his flat and how he's decorated with plants. He has very good choices that work well in each room. I love the moss wall art. It would be fun to try something like that. I did look on Artisan Moss 's website and they have some beautiful wall art, but a little spendy, which is understandable for something with no maintenance and can be hung anywhere. Sander does wonderful camera work and creativity in filming. It was nice to meet him. I loved the idea of tipping the pot to get more light on the top of the plant. Genius idea! Thank you both so much for sharing!
Thank u Summer! Sounder, thank u for inviting us into your home, like 👍 the houseplant tips! I need to give some of these tips a try. More virtual home tours, (like the teachers do from home, with there students), it would be nice to visit other plants lovers, and welcome their ideas,or your tips Summer, to help out their questions on problem solving plant problems. Can not wait for the next house plant tour?
Congrats on giving your fine cameraman a staring roll. I like his grey card wall, that is how he can get exposure in his apartment. He does have great will power so far, and maybe is not a collector, but he may find that one day something in his soul and it tells him, I could get one more plant. You both seem to match for getting along and not too stressed, always helps for production.
Sander seems so lovely. Good you have someone nice to work with from time to time. Love his space and attitude. Summer, you could perhaps give him a new plant for the pot when he gets a bigger pot for the ficus. Xxxooo
I love the bowl idea for his hanging plants. Maybe you guys can design some planters that sit that way so we don't have to use bowls to give the top of our plants light.
Really like the plant art on the wall. I love the moss balls on it. Whenever i see them outdoors growing on rocks I would love to bring them home. Is nice to see minimalist plant not always a home full of them which not all of us like living in a jungle. I find using cinnamon on top of moulds on soil on your plants is good if you just have a small amount of it and then mix the soil a bit. Airy mix is good for water easier to flow.
Yeah... all dreams of being a minimalist went out the window once I got into plants 😅
It's a slippery slope!
@ Ria, lol lol so true. I've been working on becoming a minimalist for yrs now I'm doing the most with plants. 🌿🍀🌱
I try to use minimalism to allow for more space and financial freedom for plants. Just depends on how you look at it. ;)
@@joeyroldan1658 ooOoOOo I like looking at it that way!
Lol. All of my minimalist ideals apply to everything besides plants. Because more is def better in this one area
“the table is so long, i NEED to have another plant over there” lol he is becoming one of us now slowly but surely 😆

An episode all for himself. Well done, Sander
Some amusing plant tips......
Q - “Is this a hanging plant? “
A - Yes, it’s a hanging plant, it’s hanging.”
Q - How can I get light on top of my plants?
