This is so far the best exhaust for the new gr86 in my opinion~ I would want something a little bit more silent especially for cold starts but that might just be me~
@@TheShaddix All aftermarket exhausts will have a loud start on these cars because of the D4S system (which is designed to warm up the cats fast hence the louder cold starts).
Hey man I know this video is from way back but is the startup very loud. I live in a quiet neighborhood but I don’t want to be extremely loud at startup… I usually park outside on my driveway, ofc it will be louder in a garage but would like to know! If you can-respond to this it will be much appreciated!
@@haha1680 It was the one closest to the muffler connecting the muffler pipe to the mid pipe. You really gotta tighten those more than you think they need! Same goes for the clamps that tighten the tip pipes, those need to be super tight.
@@hatteras33 It will hands down be the loudest car in your neighborhood! When I start mine it rattles the entire house. Other than that, it is an awesome exhaust. One trick I do is press and hold the throttle at around 2-2.5k rpm right from the startup. After about 20 seconds it'll calm down.
@@TheShaddix I can’t wait, I’ll fill you in when it comes in a month.. I’ve got the automatic, I could also put it gear right away and that kills the initial 30 seconds of noise. Idk if that’s a good idea though.
@@hatteras33 Probably not a good idea as in that high rpm the car really wants to move. If this is not your daily driver, you should be ok with the noise. But if you plan to start it up early in the morning, your neighbors will hate you big time.
My Gawd this is the one! I was in the market, great timing on this vid! Start up is great, cruising is drone free and under full throttle, well..... take my money. So sick. Getting.
From what ive read in the description when i bought mine earlier this week, the touring edition has a new design to eliminate drone noise, The track edition one however will have drone i believe.
I have it on mine. Perfect blend of exhaust performance with very minimal drone 👌🏾 Fun fact awe touring exhaust will allow you to switch up between the track (muffler delete) and touring set up (mufflers).
Just ordered mine… sounds really tame when in low RPMs. Is it mostly aggressive when getting on it? I’m super worried about pulling into my neighborhood lol
@@TheShaddix I mean you don’t really need to calculate the mileage, if it changes it’ll show when you drive. And I care a little more cause this would be my daily, but I wanna sound nice
Yes, it's very loud on cold starts (not loud on warm starts at all). I made some 3d-printed silencers to reduce it a bit which helped, but overall, this is a bit too loud for a quiet neighborhood like mine, so now I barely even start/drive the car. I reached out to AWE about this, they said they'd give this a thought. However, since the exhaust sounds really good overall and most people dig it, I highly doubt they'll mess with it at all. Also, the loud cold starts are not the fault of this exhaust system directly. It's just tuned that it kicks it into high rpm on cold starts to prime the cats or something. But nevertheless, it's frustrating. Will most likely be switching to a quiet-ish exhaust soon, just don't know what to get.
I love the car. I would go look at one but I cannot give up my 2019 mustang GT premium. And the Toyota 86 use premium gasoline. It's kind of hard to go for Mom muscle sound to a ricer kind of sound. But it still sounds good don't get me wrong.
Fuck yeah . Sounds great . That parking lot has been getting used lately , tons of tire marks . Nice

No not just you, I agree with you 100% on the cold starts. This exhaust is perfect except for those cold starts...

map performance catback is quieter on starts and almost as loud on full acceleration
At cruise, does it sound quiet or loud? Like highway 70-75mph cruising, bother music or anything?
it pops on demand on revmatch downshifts..its perfectt
Love it. My favorite exhaust to come out for the new gen so far. How loud is it exactly and what are your thoughts for daily driving with it?
I like it so far. The cold starts are loud, but other than that it's nearly perfect. And I don't daily drive this car.
Music to my ears! Car is coming along great, keep it up!
Thanks, will do!
I dont like how it sounds during cold start but man when that thing takes off sounds amazing!!!!! Those revs also!!
I hear you on that

yes it is ridiculously loud. I would avoid getting it if noise is a concern. It will shake the entire neighborhood.
Just bought mine monday for my ‘17 , super excited.
Will be getting this exact exhaust when I’ve broken in my engine a bit more. Sounds really good
@Lily Crawford I installed my exhaust with 500 miles on the odometer. It’s perfectly safe
Please bro get rid of the fake engine noise (there are plenty of tutorials out.) It took me 5 minutes and was so worth it

@@TheShaddix oh man my bad
Was there an annoying whistle to the exhaust at first?
Yes for sure, it was a leak in one of the gaskets. I had to tighten it up some more and then it went away.

Any drone while cruising?
None at all. That's what Awe exhausts are known for, no drone.

I just worried about the pops. I'm considering getting this exhaust but don't want to shot gun every 5 min. Is it avoidable?
It pops only if you drive and rev aggressively. It is not like a shotgun pop, it is much quieter.

Does it really sound this nice and this crisp without even taking off the cat? And is the mileage any less efficient once you changed the exhaust?
