Despite this video being 1 year old... and the replay obviously MUCH older than that; my compliments on a good video Falcon. Informative commentary. Good history lesson. The mineral patches: it's at locations of island expansions, all three races can expand there if they drop a worker and collect the minerals first, but Terran can't just land a command center there before having dropship technology.
I love the fact that this many people watch sc1. It's such an old game if you've never played it in childhood or youth you wouldn't have sympathy for this game today. Falcon Paladin is the best commentator for these viewers here from post teen to mid age, drifter to businessman (possibly) :-)
The number of cassually sent ultras and zerglings to their deaths is agonizing to watch. O.o Falcon, you were right on the continued use of dark swarm. Couldve saved sooooo much.
Around the 20:00 mark when you're wondering why Saviour isn't producing defilers, it's because he doesn't have gas. Flash has been running around picking off bases denying Savior gas. Late game is always about gas heavy units. Ultralisks cost 200 min, 200 gas, Defilers cost 50 min, 150 gas. If you look at the resources tab around 20:35 Savior has around 1700 min, and 160 gas banked, Flash has 5578 min, and 2660 gas banked. Flash's composition is essentially SK Terran with a bit of Biomech (siege tanks) thrown in, his main army composition is Medics, Marines and Science vessels. Saviour is trying to have Ultralisks as his gas sink unit, with Zerglings being his mineral sink, but he doesn't have enough gas to have enough Ultralisks to force a fight, I think usually you need about a dozen ultralisks (which would been 2400 min, and 2400 gas) to force the Terran Army to take a fight. M&M are low econ and really easy to replace. Science Vessels are expensive (100 min, 225 gas) but they're highly mobile and regen energy so they're really cost effective if they survive. As long as Flash can poke around and kite, and keep map control, it's very hard for Savior to force a big fight to eliminate the bulk of Flash's army. What Savior really needs are some Queens to stop Terran mobility and force a fight where he can group Ultralisks to run the Terran army over. Zerg always needs to be at least a base up on the Terran to match the gas heavy units. Flash was constantly able to deny Savior's fifth forcing Savior to go for drop plays and starving Savior of gas. At around 22:00 mins when flash is going after the 3o'clock expansion, it's why he's killing the extractor first cause he knows he has to deny as much gas as possible. Around the 24:10 mark Savior doesn't have the gas economy to keep with Flash's army composition. Flash always needs to keep around 6-10 Science vessels for map control, along with about 8-12 siege tanks, which is about 44 supply, he'll have around 60 SCVS, the rest of his supply will be the low econ M&M. At 26:30 flash supply blocks Savior this is basically the game right there. The last few minutes of the game is just Savior trying to find a play anywhere. Generally of all the great Terrans it was only Flash that was able to consistently choke the map away from the Zerg in a macro game like this, why he was the essentially the best Terran player ever.
As always Falcon Paladin I want to say great job. I also want to make a comment to all the people who love and enjoy this game as much as we all do. Hey Falcon, Nice channel man. The reason for the mineral patches is so that Terran cannot lift command centers and land there as they are also too close to a mineral patch to land. It makes it more fair because all of the races have to use a drop ship to get to the island bases.
WOW. I love you as a commenter (commentator) of Starcraft. It's just so refreshing to have someone so intelligent who speaks well. I have to say, I've never seen a top end player that didn't spam. I was shocked at the start to, so I kept track of it the whole game. Then again rose and stayed around 230-250 for a while. Savior actually exceeds Flash a few times after the 10 minute mark (260-300 range). They both settled around 250 in the late game, which seems to happen a lot in pro games.
This is literally the video video I watched by you and I already subbed! I love the 'human' aspect to your commentary, it doesn't feel robotic like some commentators can be.
I love Falcons feedback and commentary very awesome to hear as a old-school StarCraft player. I made a new account recently and then I lost some matches on the BGH map 3v3 lol and I told them I played years ago... so don’t disrespect a old school player💯🖕🖕
I think in the case of those weird mineral patches, it might just be a map designer quirk thing. They may confuse or otherwise mess with the worker AI which may make the income from that base a little slower. It also would make it more difficult for a Zerg to place multiple Hatcheries there, as the minerals would block the Hatchery placement. You could potentially use them for mineral walking, I guess, but that wouldn't be overtly more useful than just mineral walking to say your main or natural. It may also just be purely for cosmetic purposes, the mineral layout looks more natural that way and it looks kinda nice.
You heard scans at about 5:00 yous hould actively look for those scans, or switch the fog of war to show only flashes vision so that you can see where he scanned, see if he saw that third base or not. Good casting ^^

Some rust from the Ma Bonjwa. As always, the precision: dark swarm, defensive timings, precise execution of build. Everything is stellar, but that's it :D Back then it was his passivity that killed his opponents, he trades well, attacks with just enough units to dish out the needed damage then all of a sudden he's waaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his opponent. In this game, he just sits there doing nothing. Throwing ultras left and right, not to mention his ultras are suuuper late probably because he teched to hive way too early when he didn't need much dark swarm yet. Maybe he's scared of tanks? He needed the swarm for tanks. But that's understandable. He's playing for fun only nowadays, he has nothing to push him to get the old saviOr back. Regardless, the precision of his dark swarm still gives me the creeps. His defense in 27:30 shows a glimpse of the defensive prowess of the maestro of the old. He freaking destroyed that huge drop with minimal units wtf man.

yeah true... i remember during a ASL cast (think it was the one right after remastered came out) and Tasteless started the cast by saying that him and Artosis were wanting to keep it simple and "hold our hands". Well, about 10 seconds after, he was talking about a plethora of different build orders (like the Protoss 2 base fast expo with wall in etc) Don't get me wrong, I love their commentary but cmon, first timers don't even know what a "gate" is :)
@ Bil Simmons Tell that to all those Korean girls who would pack stadiums to watch OSL finals. I remember once a reaver nailing about 8 marines with one scarab and all you could hear was thousands of females screaming. You can enjoy Broodwar without actually playing it.
This player could have won if he didn't waste so many ultralisks. It's amazing to see Flash use his strategy of overwhelm the opponent with irradiates and hundreds of nonstop marines.
You're always worried/confused about the tech buildings being placed in the 3rd. The idea is to hide what he's doing. It's a gamble, sure, but so much is in SC. It's often about gambling intelligently for the win.
Had to pause the video and comment when at 22 minutes flash had been over 3k minerals since minute 17 and by 22 7k minerals and 3k gas. No way Savior is winning this Falcon. No damage was done to the terran the whole game.
Best thing you can do is admit when you are wrong. Most people dont have the strong characteristic to grow and learn. No one is always perfect. Ever. People will like and respect you more 🙂
Did you know that clicking about 15 times (I can't remember the exact number) over a critter ,this will explode just like a nuclear launch. You must click on the critter once a second approximately
IMAGINE THOSE SCOURGE TURNED AND HIT THOSE DROPSHIPS FOR THE FINAL BLOW INSTEAD OF THE VESSELS!!! So many different variables as to how the outcome of a single 1v1 could turn out! GREAT CAST FALCON
Good cast, but don't try to compare zvt by units produced/lost, they use different units with different cost, base zerg unit costs 25 minerals, while base terran unit costs 50 minerals, same with resources gathered/spent when zerg spends about 1/4 more resources, you can't say that his macro was better.
Mineral patches were placed to give them more strategic choices so that games look more fun. Without it, it became little bit more boring. Some mineral patches prevents maps to be exclusively terran sided.
This game does not involve Protoss but : I believe without the feature of Psy Storm, marine and firebat would get rid of zealot so well that tanks are truly unstoppable by that time. love to watch marines on their base preventing the arbiters' recalls. IMHP: Protoss is just so good in the context of units' combination. The probe could expand by instantly warping multiple buildings Terran might OP but it's not so mobile on expanding and defending multiple spots. #Terran I'm a fan. Always root for this faction. Flash % #Zerg I think Zerg Swarm is my favor. Love to see it beats other factions. Especially against Protoss xD. Zerg players like Jaedong & Hero, having a great win rate using Zerg, is extremely incredible. #Protoss Love to see Protoss units getting killed sorely on their fantastic dead sounds and animations. The blue blood is just bananas xD
If the game didn’t launch in windows 7 just uninstall blizzard app and then install it again don’t worry it won’t delete your games after that Starcraft remastered will work
i use to stay in korean chats from 3.33 and other teams.... i friended a lot of them and one of my friends made me play 1 game vs savior.... i was insanely good Terran.... but the macro that savior had was just hacks... it was all good before he ran in with ultras.... it was most pleasuring loss in my scbw gaming....
I wonder why Flash didn't irradiate as much as zerg overlord as he can, even when provided the opportunity. Non only that zerg would be supply blocked, but that also reduce overlord drop.
In my humble opinion, While Starcraft is considered one of the most balanced games, Irradiate and Storm are over- powered. That being said, I play Zerg, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Lol just let flash turtle until hes maxed and your gonna lose. Savior put up a good fight on several occasions but never really had the army make up to win. Closest he got was the drop on the supply depots but i dont think he was ever gonna take down the tank balls at the normal ramp entrances to either side bases. Still a good game and cast.
Good to see Savior playing again, even though unofficially. He's no where near what he used to be. Clearly out of practice. Not surprising since it's not like he's making a living off of playing anymore. I would pay to see peak Flash vs. peak Savior. That would be something. The two did overlap briefly, but not for long before Savior got that lifetime ban slapped on him. The Pete Rose of SC.
its a bit hard to understand a flash vs savior matchup in 2018. Savior was banned from kespa in 2010. Why would flash play against him? I'd much rather see boxer vs savior or flash vs jaedong. Ive never seen a strong msl or osl match featuring these two

Terran looks absolutely unstoppable lol
Good cast, but don't try to compare zvt by units produced/lost, they use different units with different cost, base zerg unit costs 25 minerals, while base terran unit costs 50 minerals, same with resources gathered/spent when zerg spends about 1/4 more resources, you can't say that his macro was better.
Hey falcon. good casting. Keep the good work, I'm enjoying all ur videos.
Your voice suit your style contain on your TH-cam channel. Good work falcon paladin
Thanks! I do my best. :)
26:00 - March of the Science vessels
Oh yeah! When you think the day doesn’t get better and you find this! Thank you FP!!! 🤛
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
you might miss some things while casting man, but some of us still appreciate your casts so keep doing them, you'll be better and better
I mean, 22:05, Flash just lost like 10 supply depots, and 10 seconds later, he was back with 200. Man, how the hell did he do that
He probably knew he was going to lose those depots in the attack, so he just built more supply depots at his other bases.
Savior was doing pretty well again Flash
Mineral patches were placed to give them more strategic choices so that games look more fun. Without it, it became little bit more boring. Some mineral patches prevents maps to be exclusively terran sided.
This game does not involve Protoss but :
I believe without the feature of Psy Storm,
marine and firebat would get rid of zealot so well that tanks are truly unstoppable by that time.
love to watch marines on their base preventing the arbiters' recalls.
IMHP:
Protoss is just so good in the context of units' combination. The probe could expand by instantly warping multiple buildings
Terran might OP but it's not so mobile on expanding and defending multiple spots.
#Terran
I'm a fan. Always root for this faction. Flash %
#Zerg
I think Zerg Swarm is my favor. Love to see it beats other factions.
Especially against Protoss xD. Zerg players like Jaedong & Hero, having a great win rate using Zerg, is extremely incredible.
#Protoss
Love to see Protoss units getting killed sorely on their fantastic dead sounds and animations. The blue blood is just bananas xD
Cant wait for more broodwar casting
what we can learn from this one? Coordination is important.
If you bring lings and 10 mins after your defiler than it is pretty useless it seems
No micro no epic tag ! :)
If the game didn’t launch in windows 7 just uninstall blizzard app and then install it again don’t worry it won’t delete your games after that Starcraft remastered will work
You rock, man!
Really loving your vids :)!
quite tense it seems. what a game.
i use to stay in korean chats from 3.33 and other teams.... i friended a lot of them and one of my friends made me play 1 game vs savior.... i was insanely good Terran.... but the macro that savior had was just hacks... it was all good before he ran in with ultras.... it was most pleasuring loss in my scbw gaming....
That Ultra drop tho
I wonder why Flash didn't irradiate as much as zerg overlord as he can, even when provided the opportunity. Non only that zerg would be supply blocked, but that also reduce overlord drop.
Dude you’re amazing plz keep casting :3
Great work, thank you for this :)
Hmm, why not Wraiths? There's so many Overlords just sitting around in the open. And he could've used them to pick off undefended Drones.
Still a good game and cast.
love this commentary!
It should be noted that any match involving Savior should be considered suspect considering his conviction for rigging matches...
The Pete Rose of SC.
at 28:26 Excellent ! ^^
War of attrition. Terrans are very good at those.
Can You give more info about games you recasting? Tournament stage etc...
Sometimes I can, but often the replays I get have no context.
its a bit hard to understand a flash vs savior matchup in 2018. Savior was banned from kespa in 2010. Why would flash play against him? I'd much rather see boxer vs savior or flash vs jaedong. Ive never seen a strong msl or osl match featuring these two
Saviour wasted his expensive units completely
haha best intro commentary
