    Just got my first Geo. Planning on making it a mean lean gasoline hating machine. But first... some maintenance... Thank you for your videos!

    B.T.W. NO need to remove the valve cover. The camshaft seal can be accessed by removing the timing gear. This can save you a valve cover gasket.

    Please tell me the best place to get parts for 97 Geo metro.4 cylinder.
    Nobody's got anything in the popular stores.

      The more common parts should be available at any big box store Amazon and eBay will have just about everything else the only thing you might have trouble finding is unique parts body panels Etc eBay is your best bet for those

    @Nerys please help😓. My 97,1.3 metro might need an idle air control valve but when I Google it, all I get is pictures of the wrong part. Then if I type 97 Geo metro isc valve then the right one shows up but nobody has it new.
    EBay says it has it , but when I used my debit card to order it,
    it said (Payment could not be made.) But my card is MasterCard and is good. Where else can I find this part??😭 Its black and rectangular shaped and goes behind the throttle body near the fire wall side.
    No hoses attach to it. Please help.

      Hmmm good question i always went to junkyard. And yes just electric plug no hoses i know what your talking about.
      I bet some metro owners can hook you up with a used one. Start with www.geometroforum.com when i get home (at airport) i will see what i can dig up as far as online sources!

    So the crank sensor is under the the timing cover?

    • @anterpants
      @anterpants 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crank sensor is in the oil pan, cam sensor is in the distributor.

    In the video you say you lubed up the seals. Am I right in assuming the lube is RTV like you used on the valve cover corners? Awesome video by the way!!! Just what I needed! I have to replace just my valve cover gasket though eventually I am sure I will be replacing the crank and cam gaskets. :D

      The manual says to not use any etc on the crank seals. It says to wipe motor oil on them and install. Just saying.

    thanx for the vids, just bought my 2nd metro 1999 3/5 68k miles. i was really happy finding a metro in such good shape but then i noticed an oil leak. i was really disappointed at first then after searching geometroforums and checking out your vids it doesnt look like it'll be that hard to fix. looks like im gonna have the change the cam/crank seals. ill probably do the pvc also. how do you know the right size bolt for the pvc valve? what size did you get?

  • @nerys71

    the valve cover seal was so hard I thought it was METAL the metal surface of the valve cover at first :-)
