  • In this video, I'm going to show you how to swap out the heavy stock Spectra cord from a Hennessy Hammock to continuous loops. This is a super simple, inexpensive, and easy way to lighten up the Hennessy.

    Good video and nicely explain to! I saw it to late and I order rappel ring and carabiner. But the weight savinf is not a LOT like you said. 4x rappel ring , 2 carabiner, hennesy 42" strap and the paracord on the hennesy are about 340gr and dutchware complet suspension ( strap, close loop, buckle, dutch clip = 230gr so you saved 110g or about 1/4 pound )

    Use a nail cutter to cut the plastic straps. That will remove any sharp edges/corners

    Thank you. I swapped my suspension! I used the suspension from dutchware. When ordering they ask you if you have an hennessy and they send you a longer continious loop.

    Best if you could put that continuous loop around the hammock end before you put it in through the hammock end loop. This way it is way stronger. Just my 2 cents

    Hello from Germany
    My question is what to do with the tarp ... can u still put hammock and tarp into the snakeskin? Or must I adjust the tarp on the new suspension straps? When yes witch clips do u use for it?
    Thx for ur nice video so far.

    • @OutLan
      @OutLan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. You can put the tarp and the hammock together in the snake skins, but it is a very tight fit. I suggest keeping them separated, for that reason and also so you can deploy the tarp first in bad weather and then put the hammock up underneath it and stay dry. I use a Dutchware continuous ridgeline for my tarp, which you can find here:

    GREAT video. I'm looking to do the same thing to my Hennessy jungle explorer zip XL. What model did you use for this vid? Do all the Hennesy's have two holes in the gathered end?

    Which huggers would you recommend for the buckles you are using?

    • @OutLan
      @OutLan  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would use anything from Dutchware Gear. These work well:

    I apologize if this was already asked. Wondering what buckles you used and if it matters. There are a lot of choices in design and material ... steel, titanium etc.

    • @OutLan
      @OutLan  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! Right now I am using aluminum buckles from Warbonnet (www.warbonnetoutdoors.com/product/1-buckle-set/). I also have some titanium Beatle Buckles from Dutchware Gear, but stopped using those when they actually cut my suspension.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @robertstringer1431
      @robertstringer1431 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. I really would like a set of these. Unfortunately with shipping to Newfoundland Canada and exchange I am looking at about 75 dollars. Too steep for buckles I think. @@OutLan

    Looks great - how much weight do you think you saved on your system with this modification?

    • @OutLan
      @OutLan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't weigh everything out (should have), but I'd say several ounces. Those Spectra lines are not light.
      Thanks for watching!

    How to make a similar solution AND keep the attached rainfly system?
    Whoopies are nice but have the same problem. That's why we still have the original suspension system but tie through a carabiner to make the lashing more convenient.

      Not sure what you mean. This is how other companies do their hammock ends. This isn't anything outrageous or out of the ordinary--it's just being done on the Hennessy.
