- After one week of rehearsals, on July 20, 2016, cast members from the upcoming new musical “The Prom,” gave a sneak peek performance during a free Q&A at the Alliance Theatre. The Prom will have its world premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta August 18 - September 25, 2016.

So weird watching Izzy dance in the ensemble when she is the perfect Alyssa in the show now
But I do so love to watch her dance so there is that
it does make sense tho, because the dance sequence takes place during the real prom at the lodge which Alyssa was invited to.
THIS NUMBER ALONE SHOWS THAT THE PROM DESERVES AT LEAST THE TOMY AWARD FOR BEST CHOREOGRAPHY.

I took a workshop back in February this year before the lockdown at a theatre conference to this song and let me tell you IT WAS NOT EASY BUT IT IS SO MUCH FUN
I had no choice but to learn this dance we had a Performing Arts Showcase last May while I was an 8th grader and we had kids from the ages of 8-18 I was in 6 out of the 10 songs that were performed that night this was our middle song and Its Time to Dance was our final number I had to do the part with the 2 girls u look hot.It was sooo hard cause we also had to create our own chore with this and sing it.

This is the type of dance number I like the most: Complicated choreography + dancers seemingly having a good time.
Every time I watch this video, I end up thinking about how half of the Mean Girls video was in this original production.

I'm so grateful for this footage! I was lucky enough to see The Prom when it was one Broadway and I'm so upset it closed as early as it did. It's so cool seeing Izzy dancing in the ensemble, and some original Mean Girls ensemble members in this cast too!

I have watched this clip about a hundred times. over and over following different dancers each time
Why do I find the encouragement by the audience so sweet though, like in performances done on more professional stages with more professional sound gear, you cant really hear the laughs or the cheers unless its after a song is done, but you can hear the audience is delighted and very supportive
On Broadway after Ms Greene says “get your ass in the car!!!” then you hear the beat and the curtain rise up and you see the boys posing and the girls are SCREAMING!! UGH!! Best feeling ever I loved this number so much.
This number was fucking magical and I wish I could experience it again and again

AH! So I was right!!! They probably wanted someone not so blonde for that role.
The whole reason Alyssa is in the ensemble for this number is to show that Emma was the only person left out of the prom because of her sexuality (It is demonstrated that Mrs. Greene doesn't like LGBT people; considering the prom was initially cancelled because Emma wanted to bring a girl; so, Mrs. Greene and the PTA sent Emma to her own prom. Alyssa was allowed to attend the real prom at the country club)

I think they changed the part so it wasn’t so stereotypical blonde cheerleader so they wanted a different look... but that’s just implied from bits of interviews not actually confirmed

the alyssa on bway is in this though shes just in the ensemble
The girl who is Alyssa on broadway now was an understudy in Atlanta and I think she understudied once and they liked her better than the original. She also became jasmine in the Aladdin tour soon after this so I think it gave her more credibility.
