The “Concheros” originated after the Spanish Conquest years after the fall of the Aztec Empire in 1521. The missionaries prohibited indigenous musical instruments. In response, Aztecs and mestizos started to modify stringed instruments with shells of armadillos. Thus, the name Concheros came to be. From ancient times the dance was formed for several circles of people. In the inner circle, there were the important people, who make the choreographic movements, which were successively repeated for the exteriors as a wave.

This is so disrespectful. you are making a stereotype of an indigenous tradition. you are mimicking us in a false way. Our traditions are devotional and we are still here there are thousands and thousands of us still practicing our traditions there is no need to try to imitate us for a theatre performance.

@@theytoldme5205 professional modern dancers doing a baile folclórico performance "inspired by" an indigenous tradition, the tradition I was born and raised in. we don't actually dance that way and its disrespectful to try to make our ceremonies into a performance
