If you feel like Isabella was a little OOC, just read my analysis of her character. Isabella and Mirabel are both jealous of each other, Mirabel is jealous of Isabella place in the family and Isabella is jealous of Mirabel's freedom. I think that Isabela’s role of the “golden child” made her view Mirabel’s lack of a gift as a type of freedom. Isabela gave up her whole life and identity to play the part of a perfect child for Abuela and the town. From her perspective, Mirabel not getting a gift means that she is free from the pressure, stress, and expectations that comes with getting a gift and all Mirabel does about it is complain.(Of course she doesn’t see Mirabel’s suffering) To her, Mirabel is complaining about having the freedom that Isabela never had.

Funnily enough, this is how I think Isabella felt as well. It seems that all she wanted is freedom, and Mirabel wanted a place in the family. Both didn’t like each other bc of the way they saw each other and felt jealous of one another.

This video actually has the characters a lot more in character than any of the others I've watched, the only thing is that Isabela isn't likely to expose herself that easily, but it's still not too out of character. This was really well made!

This video is amazing! but i feel like some of the people don't really understand abuela's character. Abuela cares about the family more than the candle but losing her husband and having to lead the whole village by herself she may have trauma of losing her family again so she makes her family to be what she wants, to be perfect and strong but she went a little overboard with her emotions and expectations she ended up hurting her family but she doesn't want to. And at the end of the movie she apologized to her family and remake the house. But that's my understanding of abuela's character. I maybe wrong.
First, thank you so much for sharing your opinion with me without a death threat ( god knows how many I got for this 4 minute video…). I truly enjoyed reading it. To me, abuela seemed like a perfect antagonist. (Antagonist not villain) she wasn’t evil and yes, she did love her family dearly but that doesn’t change the fact that she was toxic. Having trauma is not an excuse to neglect and mentally abuse your family with or without your knowledge. For example Mirabel. Mirabel didn't get a gift, but the way Alma speaks about it, it makes it seem like Mirabel did something wrong. She was small when these ceremonies took place, a child, and she didn't do anything wrong. And let’s not talk about Bruno( pun intended) cause she handled that whole situation poorly ( who makes their son’s name taboo….) The amount of generational trauma this woman caused us unbelievable. I do like how she felt regretful towards the end but I think she got off rather mildly. I am, however, planning to make a video dedicated to just Abuela. She is one of my favourite characters in encanto (ironically lol)
I agree that she did care about her family, but that doesn't change the fact that she treated them terrible and the fact that she had that trauma doesn't make it okay to give her family trauma.
Hello!! I honestly think this is one of the best encanto react videos and its such a shame your getting death threats for such stupid and idiotic things. I really respect your opinion, its just that I feel like Abuela wouldn't be so "Evil" if you know what I mean? Because well in the movie, she saw her husband die right in front of her and she was traumatized. Im guessing she was abt 20 in that time? Well anyways, she was very grateful for the miracle and she became quite dependant on the gifts. She wanted to repay as much as she could. It was only somewhere about the end of the movie that she realized Mirabel didn't do anything and it was her, Abuela's fault. She didn't want to lose her home again and when Casita broke down she was really emotional. Of course, its your opinion about the video and how you want Abuela, and I just want to say don't let those idiots get to you! Nobody ever deserves to get death threats and I hope your fine :))
Honestly, I don't know why people are hating on your videos. You're very observant and I love how you go about it. I love when people go more in depth about emotions rather then scratching the surface and stereotyping the characters.
It also reveals perspectives on characters I never noticed.

Cause she is the antagonist to put it simply. Abuela is my favourite character but she wasn’t exactly the A book definition of great parent nor grandparent. Also bear in mind that this is past Encanto reacting. I know that Abuela is a good person but her actions at the beginning showed a high degree of trauma which she handled by pressuring her children and grandchildren. Her priorities was skewed. I will eventually give her a character development lol but for now she is going to be going through some self assessment 😅

Omg is it that bad? I thought it seemed accurate. I didn't want her skin tone to be the exact same as Isabella cause to me she seemed a bit darker so I tried to change it to a different shade rather than lightening her but I guess it didn't workout...I will change it for part two!
