      i have some suggestion for the minarelli bike: cut 6 mm off the cylinder skirt; get an alluminum one with single exhaust port; the reed intake is from yamaha bw's or mbk booster, so use that intake; use carbon reed, not iron reed and there must be at least 0.3 mm thich; if you have enough room on the bike use the bw's original exhaust or a replacement without the expansion, otherwise you will have too much rpm. if you will use a cnc head watch out the combustion chamber shape because many kits have flat piston and the heads has the dome squish. if you cannot find a head for flat piston, find one with the lowest compression, put that onto a lathe and make your sqush band by yourself. the good mesure will be 6.88 mm from the wall of the cylinder or an internal diameter of the combustion chamber of 33.23 mm. hope that this help

    I'm about to jump into the hobby myself. Long time bicyclist/motorcycle enthusiast, with a special love for small and simple (think small thumpers and twins with just enough pep for the highway). Problem is I am DIRT poor, on a fixed income. I'd love to try ebikes, but they are very spendy for a guy like me, so as to be out of reach. The 4 stroke is REALLY tempting because I do want to us this for transportation, but watching your videos has convinced me to give 2 stroke a try first.

      That’s what I thought too. I first found out that motor bike kits existed and were cheap on Project farms video and I was amazed when I looked on Amazon and they really were cheap. I don’t have much money to be spending on hobbies or anything really but anybody can justify $110-$140. I thought that same thing “damn, I need to have that right now”

    I got into the hobby a few years back, first showing how to start and run them for a friend who was selling them, then building my own. First build was a bikeberry triple 40 with a 36 tooth sprocket on a vintage Huffy mountain bike, 42mph on that one. Idle was too high on that one out the box, did 20 at idle. Lol! Still learning about these things and I've done 5 builds since, including my BT80 Bobber, it's on a Hyper Commute 7 speed cruiser.

    These things are a hoot in every respect...to me anyway. I love the idea that I have to tinker on them to get 'em to run right, and I must confess I AM part of that 'Dirtbike-Crowd', as I draw a lot of experience with those toward these...pretty much the same setup sans transmission, but yeah I enjoy workin' on 'em at least as much as I do ridin' 'em, and coming up with all these ideas for other builds to come...oh yeah, Thanks for the 'Cameo'....

      I should have rephrased that to "some dirt bike riders". When I say "Dirt Bike Guys" it may sounds a bit negative, and it's not meant to be.

      @@LAHover the thing that 2 stroke Dirtbikes taught me (the hard way) was that you needed to change things depending on what exactly you were doing, like Thick Woods riding, jet it lean, as you usually weren't 'on-the-pipe' riding in the woods, and if at the track, jet it rich for high RPM stuff, so you were constantly messing with Carb settings, one bike I had two different Expansion Chambers for different applications, and I take that experience, and apply it to these to a degree. On my regular ride, it's a YD100, basically stock, save jetting and Pipe, and with the premix I use (40:1) and gearing (10T front and 36T rear), right now that setup is perfect, but as the engine gets broken in, I'm certain that'll change, be it a needle setting or a different jet...who knows? That's what I love about 'em...

    Here are things ypu can do to increase reliablility
    1. Get a hub adapter
    2. Get a 4 stroke.
    3. Get an spring or arch chain tensioner.
    4. Take you time when instaling these. If you need help or any modifactions in installiation get them done.
    5. Grease wheel and bike bearings.
    6. Get metal throttle. Dont use cheap plastic one.

    • @mozezcen-valley7555
      @mozezcen-valley7555 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a hub adapter is a big way to make your bike reliable your chain won't pop off that is the number one thing I tell people when they tell me to build them a bike also upgrade your Hardware your nuts and bolts get grade eight bolts hex bolts are always good depending on how you're going to make it work I also say instead of using that u bolt clamp using exhaust clamp well just measure your size or frame and get the exact one you need that's not going to snap on you and besides that shorten the chain as short as possible for you don't need to run a chain tensioner but sometimes you still do I upgrade the nuts-and-bolts on that and recommend them sometimes more during a spring tension chain tensioner or I could just weld chain tensioner tab on the frame it's really what they prefer but 75% of the time I could set up your bike to run no chain tensioner which could save them from getting hurt as long as everything's A-line

    Now hear this now hear this , first build complete runs lovley had to cut the flange off the exhaust and weld back on at a more suitable angle. Modified clutch level to lock on at full stroke. Also cut a 2mm thick packer plate out on plasma cutter at work for the rear sprocket. Only problem I had was inlet manifold coming undone but maybe I never checked it was tight to start with no harm done. She runs lovley and I’m enjoying this hobby. Hi La Hover. I have been watching your channel for a while now and i like what you do. I'm in 10th grade so I cant drive yet so I use my motor bike to get to school and back. I bought it from amazon and it was the only one that they would ship to my area in ca. It turned out to be a seeutek. I think that I did everything wrong and it is still kicking about. the seeuteks seem to be pretty solid. I love the 36 t sprocket. One modification that I quite like to pair with the 36 tooth sprocket is the high compression copper head gasket from bikeberry. It seems to make a little difference and helps make up lost torque from the smaller sprocket.

    My initial goal was to make a go kart in my highschool years. I saw a random video about motorized bikes, and i got hooked. It is practical in a 3rd world country when bikes are the norm and making a go kart and not putting it to anything that would help me gain some income would be burning my parents savings (they fund my projects, they are very supportive). I would use this bike for transportation and gaining experience on motors as I am an engineering student.

    Appreciate the mention! I have not been riding or even messing around with the bikes in the yard lately. There's been some Media heat locally about these "illegal motorbikes" and as soon as that happens it's just not worth the stress of the tickets. They can hit us with unlicensed riding, unregistered vehicle, riding without insurance dangerous riding and excessive noise all in one hit which adds up to a couple of grand in fines. Normally I'd run the gauntlet anyway, but I'll wait until after the X-mas police blitz dies down. Thinking of taking the 2 stroke off the hybrid and just rolling around on e-power. Even the electric hub motor is technically illegal but at least it's quiet

    The thing that got me into this hobby was hating biking to school daily, so i made a 49cc motorized bike which is fully legal to drive unregistered here in sweden on bike paths (which there are a lot of) and roads alike. I would definitely recommend these kits for commuting if you have the mechanical knowledge, even if you don't they are very simple and easy to learn. I would rather use motorized bikes for commuting than Ebikes since it is just so much cheaper
    Edit: my school just under 7km away so i do about 13.7km daily so about 68.5km a week.

    72 yrs old, as per your recomend I bought a seeutec 80, first build nearly complete on schwinn 26inch Mt bike, nephew bought a kit several yrs ago company called boy go fast, it had an issue, drive sproket machined incorrect, impossible to adjust chain, tight loose tight loose so that bike never completed, the muffler in the seeutec kit interfered with pedal so tried muffler from other kit, pedal clears room to spare, I'll rinse out with gas before first start and flood cylinder with Lucas break in oil and turn to lube it up throughly, motor mount bolts nearly twice as heavy as b g f kit, I had my doubts the engine would be tight and secure but feels very solid, stock pedals barely clear case on each side so concerned torque doesn't shift things under a load, I haven't seen anyone useing a cht sensor on the head as in aviation, why not? take the guess work out of a lean over heat? Only thing left is fit the chain and cable adjustments, I can see buying several different kits you have install options on any particular frame, like not having to cut and weld exhaust pipe to get pedal clearance, I collect bikes if I find them free or cheap, I rejected most my bikes before finding best match for the seeutec, I'm thinking once I'm happy with engine position will tac weld brackets on frame tubes and lock it all in place, your content sold the seeutec and launched me on this project, thanks for all you do,

    I got interested in motorized bikes a while back. It has always seemed like it would be great fun to put a motor on a bicycle. When I saw a 4-stroke bike just idling outside the front doors of a local hospital, quiet and well mannered, I thought that was just the coolest thing! I just recently got a used 4-strpke on a Schwinn Delmar, and I'm having a good time sorting thru the many issues connected with being built by one or more people who simply didn't know too much about making things work well, though they certainly tried!

    I got into the hobby because my best friend was a few hours away had a gas frame I visited him and I rode his bike about 5 miles without letting off after that I wasn't on the fence anymore about building one ive been riding these bikes for about 5 years now and my gawd has it been a journey I started out with a super tight budget and has increased more and more every year I've built 7 of my own bikes now each getting stronger and stronger and about 50 to 75 other bikes for other people now I consider myself a professional at first when I was only doing my own builds I constantly was doing research into porting characteristics of flow new parts good and bad I went through 2 "practice" cylinders before I finally was happy ish with one soon after at about the year mark I started going to a trade school for welding at the time primarily to learn how to weld pipes and mounts shortly after graduating I made welding a career I started out making 20 an hour production welding it started a snowball effect now I'm making close to 50 an hour so really I owe all of my success to motorized bikes if i didnt have a passion for them I never would have gotten where I am now I started out with stock and now I ride saws minarellis high end China dolls I started out with stock engines that could barely pull a 36t sprocket and now I ride saws that can pull a 28t sprocket my bikes have become transportation fun and just all around my life

    @LA Hover, got into the hobby two years ago. I was on harsh antibiotics for six weeks due to a body wide sepsis infection that almost took my life. While I was in the hospital I got screwed at the mechanic shop. They told me I had a bad head gasket. It turned out to be a damn bolt that was on the motor mount that came lose. I decided that I was really pissed off. It was a Volkswagen Jetta TDI. I will never own a eurotrash car again. I wanted my own car but didn't have the money and I wasn't experienced enough to ride a motorcycle yet. So I started with motorized bikes. I didn't even know what a head gasket was back then. Now I am learning why crank shafts need oil holes and attempting to do a full engine rebuild on my PUCH Maxi's E50 single speed engine. I got it started on Friday but blew the crank shaft due to a defective part. Thanks China! I need to order the right crankshaft and go from there. I am thinking of doing a big bore kit engine. Big bores are made in Spain and the little racer shit is made in Taiwan. I want to buy good stuff only. I am looking for a motorcycle. Nothing crazy nothing fast. I just want to get something that I can go from A-B on and go to a small part time job. Thanks for all the inspiration! I am looking for a true motorcycle of 70-125CC displacement from the 1980's. I want a full rebuild project!

    What got me into this is wanting a project and also a motorcycle. I got a 1974 suzuki ts185 about 6 years ago free (non running) and i havent heard it run ever. Its in storage and i cant transport it to my house nor can i afford to get it running. So i said screw it. Dug out my cranbrook, slapped a 108 dollar kit on it and it was my dirt bike until i replaced the frame with a mountain bike

Also gives me more to tune and tinker with to get the powerband exactly where I want it

    I have wanted a 2stroke on a bicycle since i was smaal child in late 60s would see various kits in sears jc penny svc merchandise ect but out of our reach . Once i got a paper route and at that time motorcycle license availible at 14 so i went that way and have ridden them on n off all my life but never forgot my intense yearn for motorised bicycles , especially during the Christmas seasons in the catalogues so 3yrs got into the staton friction dr bikes because it somewhat satisfied 2stroke cravings and avoided these because of reliability problems but kept an eye on em hopin quality would improve but kept hearing about the firestorm 80 seemed consistantly pretty good an at Hover recommendation ordered it along w the thick fin 6cc heas and am pleased and enjoying it its holding up to my 30-40mile non stop hikes w 36t and 25mph constat cruise in this cool weather at least . Have 425 happy miles on it now w mild muffler mod . Will be gettin the mz65 and the yd100 soon so hopefully i can run the 32t and drop rpm's at my average cruise but am concerned if the 100 can hold up to the non stop 40 miles hikes ?

    Hi great channel and content learned a lot from your stuff thanks, I bough a black engine kit back in 2017 it was good nice quality no bad problems just a few issues, sold it after a while still in very good nick, I bough another kit last year only getting to Mess with it now, a silver kit the castings are tough out very bad, the ports are not to bad, basically it looks rough as hell on the outside, like pit marks loads of slag from the casting sharp edges small 6mm bolts for exhaust, intake and mounting brackets, it's way rough in comparison to my first kit, I didn't believe there was such a difference in quality from kit to kit, I have it took apart and rebuilding it with better hardware, great fun 👍👌

    Can you please make a torque build. I know you have done some with very strong torque, but I mean something to the absolute limit that a 2 stroke can do. Something you can ride at a snail pace through thick bush. That would be really interesting for me. That's how I like to ride and I have installed a 54 tooth with an expansion chamber style exhaust. Also, here in Canada, the Grubee bikes are the most available. That's what I've been using. Any experience with these on your end?

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good news! My Schwinn Taff is set up for this exact purpose, but has yet to been given a true test. I'll pull it out and pound some trails with it here very soon :)
      I have never tested the Grubee, but I have heard it is one of (if not the best) motors you can buy in terms of quality.

    • @MrJasenstewart97
      @MrJasenstewart97 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Grubee Skyhawks are built incredibly solid. I have a 2010 Skyhawk 50cc and after sitting out in the rain being abused by previous owners it still runs like a beast. Crankcase seals are the death of these motors tho so when or if you get one make sure the seal is in good condition and order an extra to be on the safe side, other than that they're very reliable as a commuter as hover said around 20-25mph they do great at keeping themselves cool

    • @shadoza

      Sorry to jump in... I am working on a crank oil seal issue now (mag side). Before repair the crank would slide back and forth 1/8 - 1/4 " -- I tapped my seal in, and the crank no longer slips back and forth (should it?). After the repair, while riding full throttle on my test ride, It started losing power and eventually died and hasn't started since. Before the seal leak was recognized, I had the carb running rich to compensate. Blue mix drips from the exhust so I assume I flooded it. Even with a new spark plug, and after I drained the carb (didnt' disassemble). Blue fuel drips out of my exhaust. Now the only time it even seems like it wants to fire is when after pedaling clutch engaged for like 20 seconds full steam, as soon as I give up the engine will give a little burp as I am slowing down (I notice when that happens my throttle moves as I am adjusting my body position, I have tried to find that spot to no avail) but not enough to start up. Head removed and piston looks good other than black stripe carbon buildup from the intake to exhaust... I am thinking I just need to drink a few energy drinks and pedal until the case is empty.

    What got me Into the hobby was because some dude on kijiji was selling his YD kit. But I asked him if he's willing to trade for a pair of fancy sony headphones.
    After a day or so. He said yes.
    That was when I said to myself "okay here goes!"
    I took the trade. When and picked it up after taking a few busses and lugging it back was freaking heavy man.
    Afterwards I never looked back.
    I managed to have it installed on a Tuesday May frame.
    However I have yet to even break it in yet. I haven't even turned it on because there were some complications with the wheel especially.
