Same formula--two of these badges make him take 1/3 the damage, three 1/4, etc. That 204 attack damage is enough to one-shot even Bonetail, the most powerful superboss in the game. Mario's first Power Bounce (or regular jump attack) still deals 167 damage, still enough to KO the Shadow Queen in one bounce and enough to KO Bonetail with a regular two-hit jump attack. The second Power Bounce will deal 166, then 165, 164, and so on, resulting in THOUSANDS of points of damage in a game where most enemies have about 10HP. Enemies only have a 1-in-6 chance of hitting Mario, and any attack with an attack power of less than 9 will only do 1HP in damage anyway. 9+ power attacks will deal 2 damage. All of this damage will be fixed within a turn after it's dealt, making Mario effectively immortal. If that's not overkill, then I don't know what is. i love it when games let you find superpowered items or abilities that make you character a killing machine, it really feels like you have reached the very top
Zeus killer productions Fargus will mess you up with his Killer Axe. Then again,Vandalier Ash was pretty much able to clean up the rest of the game by his lonesome. That would be an interesting match to say the least, eh?
I adore this game and I literally had no idea that Ash Lambert could upgrade his class a third time! This was a pleasure to watch, thank you for making this video for this under appreciated game. Konami was a good video game company back during the time this game was made, they are nothing like this now.
I loved Vandal Hearts, but then again because the enemies' levels were scaled to only Ash's, you could at one specific level overpower the game immensely, to where one specific fight where you're meant to escape rather than directly fight the bad guys could be dealt with through actual combat. Love whenever people acknowledge Vandal Hearts in any capacity.
***** Disgaea D2 Baal wouldn't be a pushover though. He starts permenently nullifying specific attacks after being hit once (including normal and counter attacks). And has SIX forms in a row to defeat. Luckily, Ash Vandelier has a lot of spells to cast...
MrEvilbyte I know about Baal, I saw him myself... His is the single most powerful Superboss I have *ever* seen in my video gaming history... disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Baal For anyone who wants to read about him.
Ash Vandelier versus Baal would be a good match.....The problem is you have to reincartnate alot of times at level 9999 in disaega d2 and then get to it again to be able to even match baal, AND for somereason, Baal can attack you right as you spawn, Its unfair if your gonna try to beat him at a low level, And hes max level all the time, Most rpgs have a certain 999 or 100 level limit, But since Ash at this form can cast ANY item and ANY spell including that devastating Plasma Wave it could be either winning, They both have advantages.
One of my favorite games as well. I remember stepping on that switch for the first time and killing everyone. I was quite surprised. I wish Konami would bring the series back.
0:47 Meet Fire Emblem! The rule-breaker! I'm looking STRAIGHT at you, Roy! And Eirika, and Lyn, and Eliwood, and Micaiah, and Marth, and sadly no one else, but that's still half the lords.
Great video here! I appreciate all the time that went into making the different scenarios of each attack with the Vandalier. Nice ending too by the way - always wondered how that would look.
Vivian and Admiral Bombery are the two strongest characters of Paper Mario: 1000 year door, even if Vivian is the third highest Heart Points behind Admiral Bombery and Madam Flurrie, but Vivian is the second strongest character to do heavy damage against almost all enemies, except for fire based enemies, such as Embers, however she can use items such as Ice Attack on fire based enemies for some damage.
Thanks for showing me this game ^^ Even though I have to say these examining of Squares seems very random but it is an old Game and I think Not so necessary for Ash than Lex' Brave Axe of FE4 for example. Also if you're looking for another great SRPG I highly recommend you "Stella Glow" for the 3DS. It has a great Story but can be a bit slow in the beginning. But you should definitly check it out.
Loved your video about Vandal Hearts's levels then I found this one too :D It's amazing the similarities and differences about the Vandal Hearts in the First and the second game (my favorite SRPG ever!). In Vandal Hearts 2, you need to get the 7 Prisms as well, however here they're just buried around the world, you don't pass through a trial (but need to pass through really annoying secret battles! hahaha), also the lore for Vandal Hearts (the sword) is different, here it was created by St Nirvath, the messiah of Vandal Hearts 2, and so you need to get all the 7 prisms in order to open Nirvath's gate and receive the Vandal Hearts. Sadly the Vh sword isn't all that powerful here compared to Vandalier Ash :( The producers really tried to make things more difficult and assure that you won't have a 1 hit kill character around hahahah cx.
Damn, how amazing! I played this game when I was a kid, I'm 35 now. I was listening to the OST and I came across this video and this finding about Ash overpower. Hahaha, amazing! Thanks!
I'm trying to re-discover that link I found those many long years ago to get a working PS1 emulator. I also realize the BOIS are technically illegal to own, but I read through the stuff, and technically, I CAN use the BIOS's because I still own a working PS1. At least, this is according to how I've interpreted this. And kudos for the Cave Story.
Well, 16-bit block just has a lot of defense. Ash here has a lot of attack *and* defense. Then again, 16-bit block has 65536 HP. So I think they're both around the same power. However, Ash is definitely more broken as he can go from 1 HP and no MP to full of both in a single turn.
i remember using the old trick to max level huxley and the other caster chick. and then got ash vandalier and made him give huxley an herb or other item. lv50 vandalier is so broken i didn't even realize i could cast items. plasma wave all day.
I played thid game sience the original release date and probably beat this game 3 or 4 times untill i knew vandalier class existed, then back in 2003 or 2004 i found a text file in the internet that explained were to get the keys for that class, doing the secret dungeons and getting the prism was not an easy task even as an experience VH player.
The montage of blocking attacks is just to show how comedically out of place the blocking sound effect actually is. It sounds like Bugs Bunny hit Yosemite Sam with a Frying Pan, and I like it. It's funny.
I'm pretty sure you can keep replaying the trials if you don't get the prism, in fact its the only way you can grind. However as I recall you get next to no xp and only 10 gold for each enemy in the trial, so you will want to use healing spells and items if you want to level in any reasonable time, they give xp each time. Also the game isn't hard so you probably shouldn't grind.
When you said that the strongest character in an SRPG tends to be the main character, does the Avatar from some of the Fire Emblem games count? Due to how you can set the Avatar's main stat and flaw stat, it's very easy to make a stupidly powerful unit at the start of the game. My Tactician in Awakening is BEYOND overpowered; her raw Magic and Strength pretty much allow her to 1-shot just about ANYthing, and she only gets hit very rarely. And it gets better with Robin's child character, Morgan; s/he will inherit ALL of Robin's skills, is very easy to recruit, and more. And by having Robin marry Chrom, Morgan ALSO learned Rightful King, which increases the activation of skills by 10%. Ignis has a chance of adding half of the Str or Mag values to the other (1/2 Str to Mag, 1/2 Mag to Str) and it's activation is %= Skill stat. Ignis is pretty much a near guaranteed kill, and if by chance the enemy DOES survive, they won't be standing for long. Morgan's skill: 29 Ignis activation chance: 29% Rightful King: +10% Chance Ignis activation chance: 39% Put Morgan with Nah, his Rank S support (in my run, anyway) and it's +6 skill stat. Ignis activation chance: 45% Sorry if I went on a rant, but I was just pointing something out.
Yes, the avatar definitely counts, in fact, I'd argue he/she is a bit too powerful. I finished the game on Lunatic, Classic without any side help, (No Spotpass teams, no renown rewards, etc.) and by the end of the game, the only characters I were using were the (female) avatar, Morgan, Chrom, Lucina and Olivia. The avatar and Morgan practically did all the work, I only built Chrom and Lucina's levels because I needed them for the last boss, and Olivia's dance just made the avatar and Morgan devastate the enemies even quicker. As powerful as Vandalier Ash is, you can only use him at the end of the game, and only if you take part in a difficult sidequest. (I wish there was a New Game+ mode where Ash started the game as a Vandalier)
Holy shit man, that's impressive. :D Also, this may have been said, but IMO, I think that Elizabeth (Persona 3) and the Demi-Fiend (DDS boss version) are perfect candidates for either this series or Boss Analysis. Again, just my opinion.
Spotpass teams aren't helping much, since on Lunatic they only give 1 EXP per kill. Also, you could marry a first-gen char to have two Morgans. Not like two Grandmasters weren't broken enough. That reminds me. Did you use Anna's shops and weapon bonus tiles? 'Cause I'm about to finish a similar run (second to last chapter), but was unable to beat Tiki paralogue when it first unlocked without upgraded as hell Brave Bow from secret seller. And those things are considered unfair, just as Bosus Box and DLCs.
Kajuker I think I did, but I probably could have beaten it without them. The way I saw it, it was fine to use anything that would've have been available from a first-time playthrough, and without any features that were gradually added online for a few months after the game's release. (I was also able to beat a few of the random Risen and got a ton of extra EXP from it, but they're so powerful on Lunatic mode, I think it was well deserved)
whoisthisgit Dunno about Risen encounters though. I managed to beat a Barbarian one on map with forts (Ch. 3 map) as early as chapter 6, with only Robin and A-support Chrom. You break a lot of weapons there, true, but you also earn some invaluable exp. points. Not to mention, that before completing Chapter 4, those guys are quite manageable, without crazy endgame levels and forged weapons.
Sure wish I could've watched this earlier before being inactive for about 5 days. Oh well, its nice to see another video about the strongest characters. :D
The reason why all spell available? He turn into a God in the story or Developer team just wanted to congratulate all player who got the troublesome Vandalier job
Ok if we assume that the powers of the chicken suit are as follows -Unlimited MP -Access to all spells/abilities within the source game -Unlimited items -Stats equivalent to all the upsides of all other ingame armor -Power levels comparable to a heavily overleveled character What character would be strongest if they could wield it?
I discovered the Vandalier on my own back in high school when I was crazy about the game. Ever since, I've been praying for a Gameshark code to let me play as him from the beginning of the game. I'll buy a pizza for the man who hacks that code.
Hahaha let's not forget the endgame battle "tactics" once you get Ash to a Vandalier: Plasma wave, life orb, plasma wave, life orb...oh I guess I didn't need to move a single character to win this one, sorry Dolph, did that hurt?
I did the math on how often Vandalier Ash will block using how many times he blocked and didn't block during Git's playthrough of Chapter 6 as shown in this video; (26 / 100 = 0.26 20 blocks / 0.26 = 76.9) Ash can block attacks 3/4 of the time. Damn.
I think you should do an episode of TMPCiGE on Greygnarl (Grotto battle) from Dragon Quest IX. He can attack three times in a turn (with the regular being 1) and has 7400 HP, higher than the final boss and the final DLC Quest boss! He has the ability Youthful Energy, which raises his 478 attack (the highest in the game) even higher! Every time he uses Youthful Energy, he then uses the attack Magic Burst dealing a massive 250 damage to ALL of your team - with an increased buff in his MP. He is completely resistant to nearly all of the status effects, a list below - Illusion Sleep Death Drain MP Confusion Silence Paralyze Poison Despite this, he is worth defeating, as he has a chance to drop Dragonlord's map (one of the most valuable grotto maps in the game) - and a massive 80,000 EXP.
Vandalier Ash is the reward for the hard work in order to make him a Vandalier. Look... there is a battle where I can get to level 99 by using Sara and Huxley. There are 2 Pentagrams which replenish your HP and Mana in one certain battle. All I did was to cast Defense Up Spell or Bless Weapon for a couple of hours (thanks to the in battle save). After Huxley and Sara reached level 99, I had the others (except for Ash) to use mage oil on them in order to level up in an instant. I did the same with Ash... and he was an unstoppable force of destruction. NOTHING stood in my way... nothing and no one! They all fell down, one by one :)
I wonder how long this took players to discover...you'd pretty much have to examine every last square of every last battleground to discover these weird hidden objects. Never underestimate the patience of gamers!
And some characters gave you some hints. It didn't take too long, in 1997 we already had guides for this online. Never underestime the patience of walkthrough creators. If they can make a 100% Ephemeral Fantasia on the Ps2, they can complete anything.
Cristiano Hehe, I often forget just how life-changing the internet was when it first became a thing. As a kid I think I spent YEARS trying to finish LoZ: Second Quest.
The tiles are pretty easy to spot. Every map has a special tile, usually marked by a single tile that stands out. Sometimes you get a potion, others you get one of those treasures.
This is what I love Become Debug Mode by a simple button combination? Hell no, lock debug mode to those who utterly deserve it; Can be used for free anytime after perhaps?
Also with the 3 items you need to collect to get one of the keys, maks sure none of them is being carried by Kira, she will carry them over after she leaves and will only rejoin right after you could deliver the items to the collector
Most of those front attacks Ash receives as a Vandalier at this point (starting at 20:30) could just be a Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley Nope compilation, lol.
Kane sword is Caliburn and Ash has Vandal Hearts (Excalibur with other name). I love the fact they are nemesis of each other and have both swords of Arturian legend.
in vandal hearts the blocking may be a bit delayed (because ash got burned by a bahamut for a total of like 2 seconds yet he somehow miraculously blocked that fire after the fact that he got burned by it)
So by doing a bunch of trials you can become a walking debug mode I'm sold

i love it when games let you find superpowered items or abilities that make you character a killing machine, it really feels like you have reached the very top
Well Ash, I think you'd do well in Fire Emblem.
Just don't pick a fight with Fargus.
Zeus killer productions Fargus will mess you up with his Killer Axe.
Then again,Vandalier Ash was pretty much able to clean up the rest of the game by his lonesome.
That would be an interesting match to say the least, eh?
But Ash has a sword! And he can spam Plasma Wave over and over! And he can replenish his HP and MP. For 0 MP.
Filip Melzacki True. But killing Fargus is a non-standard game over, seeing as he's the only person who can get you to the Dread Isle in time.
But Ash doesn't have any business on Dread Isle :3
But it's Fire Emblem, you decided to put him on it, so you have to do things you do in Fire Emblem!
My god that is that most beautiful thing I have ever seen, srpg's can be seriously frustrating sometimes something like that is just too awesome
Yeah, even Final Fantasy Tactics does have these frustrating moments.
Vandelier Ash vs Kirby would be an interesting matchup.
The main question is if Kirby can eat his attacks…
That goes beyond being Disgaea OP ... into being god mode Debug mode OP!
Good grief...
Summed it up perfectly! lol
But now I feel like playing Disgaea D2!
*****
Disgaea D2 Baal wouldn't be a pushover though. He starts permenently nullifying specific attacks after being hit once (including normal and counter attacks). And has SIX forms in a row to defeat.
Luckily, Ash Vandelier has a lot of spells to cast...
MrEvilbyte I know about Baal, I saw him myself...
His is the single most powerful Superboss I have *ever* seen in my video gaming history...
disgaea.wikia.com/wiki/Baal
For anyone who wants to read about him.
Robert Stotlar Ash the Vandelier + Disgea = Multiply all of those stats by like 99999
YES! Vandalier Ash breaks the game open like an egg. It makes me want to pick this up and play it again.
One of my favorite games as well. I remember stepping on that switch for the first time and killing everyone. I was quite surprised. I wish Konami would bring the series back.
Am I the only person in the world who actually likes Vandalier Ash's outfit?
I think it looks pretty awesome. Way cooler than his other outfits.
I like it.
I feel like it resembles Griffith's demon form from Berserk
it looks like armor made of bent sunlight and fire, intended only for the highest servant of God himself, so yeah
I think there is fewer people that don't like his Vandalier suit.
As powerful as Vandalier Ash may be, he cannot destroy thy almighty 16-Bit Block!
Vandalier Ash: Eh? What did you say? I was busy destroying some weird block with the words 16-Bit on it.
Ash: I wasted a whole decade doing it. What a lame and boring enemy to fight.
Bacon Mage well crap.....lets see if you can..... *summons tobi* BEAT OBITO UCHIHA/TOBI AND THE BIJUUS!!!!!!!!!!!
How about a super saiyan blue xenoverse 2 oc lvl 99
@@רועיכהן-ל1י me(xenoverse): really funny really funny........
0:47 Meet Fire Emblem! The rule-breaker! I'm looking STRAIGHT at you, Roy! And Eirika, and Lyn, and Eliwood, and Micaiah, and Marth, and sadly no one else, but that's still half the lords.
Vandalier Ash's insane offence and defense in a tactics game reminds me of Cidolfus Orlandeau from Final Fantasy Tactics.
I think this guy is the most powerful out of all the characters in this series, he is literally a *walking debug menu*
Great video here! I appreciate all the time that went into making the different scenarios of each attack with the Vandalier. Nice ending too by the way - always wondered how that would look.
Diego is apparently happy about _everything_ that happens, lol...
lmao, lets see how the new and improved kane can take a back attack? sounds a little.... *spicy*
I mean he got fucked hard in this video.
You know its a good day, when you favorite TH-camr uploads a Video...
Your videos are so cool... I love to watch them when im bored :D
Same.
Tabletops wouldn't be tabletops without ash,Clint,Diego and grog
Don't forget the blood spurt
Thanks for showing me this game ^^
Even though I have to say these examining of Squares seems very random but it is an old Game and I think Not so necessary for Ash than Lex' Brave Axe of FE4 for example.
Also if you're looking for another great SRPG I highly recommend you "Stella Glow" for the 3DS. It has a great Story but can be a bit slow in the beginning. But you should definitly check it out.
Loved your video about Vandal Hearts's levels then I found this one too :D
It's amazing the similarities and differences about the Vandal Hearts in the First and the second game (my favorite SRPG ever!).
Just checked now, the Vandal Hearts attacking value in the second game is 135, Ash has a more powerful sword hahahah (poor Joshua!).
Why is Ash's helmet gem green in the video but red in the thumbnail?
Dang, this is certainly interesting information to learn after all these years of playing.
I'll always respect this channel, Vandal Hearts are for strong hearts.
Damn, how amazing! I played this game when I was a kid, I'm 35 now. I was listening to the OST and I came across this video and this finding about Ash overpower. Hahaha, amazing! Thanks!
after watching this i downloaded a psx emulator and started playing this, best decision i have made since cave story.
@@jacobdagun3670 Well, now you have access to the PlayStation Classic. There's your loophole.
So... what I'm getting is you do a bunch of stupid shit, and, as a reward, you win a legitimate invincibility cheat.
Sounds nice.
I doubt Vandalier Ash would be a match for the 16-Bit Block.
Vandalier Ash & Fargus VS The Thief & 16-Bit Block
Who would win?
thats an interesting match but i think the thief would win because he can steal stuff and has infinite (or almost infinite) hitpoints
***** Besides, Fargus has the Killer Axe. not fun at all.
Wait...Does 16-bit block have as many HP as how many pixel he is made of?
I played thid game sience the original release date and probably beat this game 3 or 4 times untill i knew vandalier class existed, then back in 2003 or 2004 i found a text file in the internet that explained were to get the keys for that class, doing the secret dungeons and getting the prism was not an easy task even as an experience VH player.
That is one powerful mofo
I remember the trials and I missed a key but still completed the game. I had to redo the game to see this version of ash and I wasn't disappointed lol
Everything about that was satisfying. Also, playing as a character that you can make to be overpowered is insanely fun.
this guy is the reason i played vandal hearts and became my favorite game of all time
I think he looks more like a yellow Dragoon.
Yea
The Black Knight Kane boss theme reminds me of One-Winged angel...
I never got around to playing Vandal Hearts but have heard excellent things about it! RIP CLASSIC GOLD!
God I would love this to come to switch... Loved this and the second one!
Vandal Hearts was so slept on, one of my favorite games ever
The montage of blocking attacks is just to show how comedically out of place the blocking sound effect actually is. It sounds like Bugs Bunny hit Yosemite Sam with a Frying Pan, and I like it. It's funny.
I'm pretty sure you can keep replaying the trials if you don't get the prism, in fact its the only way you can grind. However as I recall you get next to no xp and only 10 gold for each enemy in the trial, so you will want to use healing spells and items if you want to level in any reasonable time, they give xp each time. Also the game isn't hard so you probably shouldn't grind.
Do more Vandal Hearts videos.
Morgan's skill: 29
Ignis activation chance: 29%
Rightful King: +10% Chance
Ignis activation chance: 39%
Put Morgan with Nah, his Rank S support (in my run, anyway) and it's +6 skill stat.
Ignis activation chance: 45%
Sorry if I went on a rant, but I was just pointing something out.
Also, this may have been said, but IMO, I think that Elizabeth (Persona 3) and the Demi-Fiend (DDS boss version) are perfect candidates for either this series or Boss Analysis.
Ok if we assume that the powers of the chicken suit are as follows
-Unlimited MP
-Access to all spells/abilities within the source game
-Unlimited items
-Stats equivalent to all the upsides of all other ingame armor
-Power levels comparable to a heavily overleveled character
What character would be strongest if they could wield it?
I discovered the Vandalier on my own back in high school when I was crazy about the game. Ever since, I've been praying for a Gameshark code to let me play as him from the beginning of the game. I'll buy a pizza for the man who hacks that code.
You can always look up something like "Vandal Hearths AR cheat codes"
Yep. Ash is the most OP character in gaming. No questions.
Hahaha let's not forget the endgame battle "tactics" once you get Ash to a Vandalier: Plasma wave, life orb, plasma wave, life orb...oh I guess I didn't need to move a single character to win this one, sorry Dolph, did that hurt?
I First thought ash in the thumbnail was some sort of secret boss from Streets of Rage series
man wearing a funny chicken suit becomes messiah of power creep
I did the math on how often Vandalier Ash will block using how many times he blocked and didn't block during Git's playthrough of Chapter 6 as shown in this video;
(26 / 100 = 0.26 20 blocks / 0.26 = 76.9)
Ash can block attacks 3/4 of the time. Damn.
Weird math. I just do 100(20/26)=76.92%
I think you should do an episode of TMPCiGE on Greygnarl (Grotto battle) from Dragon Quest IX.
He is completely resistant to nearly all of the status effects, a list below -
Illusion
Sleep
Death
Drain MP
Confusion
Silence
Paralyze
Poison
Despite this, he is worth defeating, as he has a chance to drop Dragonlord's map (one of the most valuable grotto maps in the game) - and a massive 80,000 EXP.
Check out the ridiculous combos you can do in jimmy and the pulsating mass..
it's... horrifying how good math is in rpgs.
wait till ash discovers what death holes are in platformers
Now this is the channel where I find good lesser known games
Also with the 3 items you need to collect to get one of the keys, maks sure none of them is being carried by Kira, she will carry them over after she leaves and will only rejoin right after you could deliver the items to the collector
20:45
OH GOD, THE AGONYYY!!! THE AGONYYYYY-*just kidding, dunce. bonk*
I've been curious about checking this game out recently, and I'd have to say I'm definitely playing it now.
Most of those front attacks Ash receives as a Vandalier at this point (starting at 20:30) could just be a Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley Nope compilation, lol.
17:50 vandal hearts predicted that cn show about unikitty not clickbait?? :0
((the main villain, master frown, is a doom lord))
Another great video man, keep it up
Git, you are a truly outstanding TH-camr. :3
Wait, did I catch a Ren and Stimpy reference in this video?
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY, HAPPY HAPPY JOY.
Kane sword is Caliburn and Ash has Vandal Hearts (Excalibur with other name). I love the fact they are nemesis of each other and have both swords of Arturian legend.
Ah, nostalgia. Not from the game, I never knew about it until I watched this vid.
in vandal hearts the blocking may be a bit delayed (because ash got burned by a bahamut for a total of like 2 seconds yet he somehow miraculously blocked that fire after the fact that he got burned by it)
