In the year 2000, WCW copied everything the WWF was doing.
The only thing they just couldn't seem to copy was their success.

Booker T was just too good. The many attempts of burying him only made him more legendary in both WCW and WWE.
Booker t was great but they gave him the rocks finisher and tried to make him like the rock
King 🤴 Bookkkaaahhhh
@@kassimparekh1639 Yeah, as dumb WWE tried to do that Booker T surpassed judgment and really showed his own style and character.
Yeah booker should achieved so much more greatness

Im convinced the WWE had already purchased the WCW at this point and was doing this to bury the company.
The only reason I can't believe that is because WCW were making stupid decisions way before Russo...It just got completely out of control by the time Vince showed up. As a kid I couldn't see it but as a adult looking back I see that WCW shot themselves in the foot on plenty of occasions.
They did the Fingerpoke of Doom in the apex of their popularity. wCW had no shortage of crappy ideas.
Lol no it's just what happens when you have ppl that dont know or dont care in charge.
@KingLeo80 sorry but no...especially with tna
@james Nas yes they are.
Road Dogg was basically Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle album.
WCW from late 1999 to 2001 was like a diet, caffeine free, zero calorie, generic store brand soda thats been sitting in a hot car for awhile. At the time it was like a car crash that you couldn't look away from.
Chris kanyon was hilarious with the diamond cutter rampage gimmick

Well done.
Well, he was the book back then so...
I think WCW was already going out of business and these "copycats" were them being personal with WWE because they were losing the ratings war and they were desperate.
I'm with you on that
I just hope they weren't serious with any of this...

Cybele Ophis For the old-time wrestling fans it’s the “Diamond Cutter” and DDP even taught Randy Orton this move.
He's trolling bro, duh lol
RKOs were mostly telegraphed. DDPs cutter was the shit though. Could literally come out of nowhere.
Diamond cutter
I was 12 years old then and I recall getting WCW Mayhem JUST for the CAW feature. I created a bunch of Copycat Wrestlers from WWF. I had already switch from WCW to WWF after the David Arquette controversy, but I still checked into Nitro at 7pm, before RAW was on the air at 8pm.
I wasnt the brightest 12 year old then, but I also wasnt Blind neither- I clearly saw how much WCW was ripping off WWF; so I began watching only WWF and never checked on WCW until McMahon announced he bought the company.
No offense but if you were still watching WCW over WWF in 2000 it goes without saying that you weren't too bright😁
@@blueblur2273 he was 12 you dolt
@@hsm6485 and i prefer wcw back than so i guess am not bright too.. i don't know i like the arena and the style of wcw. My main draw for me was the cruiser weight division they could certainly bring it. but than as time went bad and one bad idea after another i started to flip to wwf on occasion and started to watch both program as wcw had a rerun around midnight. had to wait for the tv show (mortal kombat for the longest time) to end. but i work late so it wasn't a huge deal i was often up at those hours
I LOVED WCW, but 2000-2001 was saddening.

I think one you missed was Norman Smiley´s "hardcore survivor" gimmick, that was basically a rip-off of what WWF were doing with Crash Holly at the time.
Norman did it better though lol
@@alexbrannon Both of these comments make me sad because I loved Crash Holly's run with the hardcore title and i loved every second of tv time that Norman Smiley was given. So I will remain vigilant that the big wiggle was not a rip off of Crash Holly and the two were different characters, even if you're probably right. :(
as a young kid I remembered Norman Smiley hardcore run. It was hilarious..
The thing is that both of them were entertaining.

I'll give Booker T credit for his catchphrase "Don't hate the playa, hate the game." love that.

Here's one you missed: Goldberg was booked as a poor man's Stone Cold Steve Austin at that time. It even went as far as giving Goldberg and Vince Russo a feud similar to the Austin/McMahon feud in the WWF, only shittier.
The worst part is the Goldberg fought hard to distinguish himself from Austin and he made a name for himself as one of the best. But then this whole bullshit just nullified that
The look was similar but the characters where very different.
@@cf2228 the real difference is that Steve could actually wrestle n bill was terrible in the ring that's why most of Bill's matches were squash
@@johnbush5347 Goldberg was a power wrestler so he didn't need to be Bret hart in the ring.
He showed up, destroyed his opponent and left. THAT was how he was booked, how is that ANYTHING like Steve Austin? Austin only did that in segments, he didn't do that in matches. The only similarities (prior to his Russo feud) was that they were both bald men with goatees and black trunks. The wrestled different, they talked different, their themes were vastly different, they were BOOKED NOTHING alike...again, prior to the feud with Russo, but to be fair EVERYONE feuded with Russo.
Kanyon was great I like how he would Diamond cutter anybody he saw lol

Disco Inferno got into hip-hop and renamed himself Disqo. I'm not sure that counts, since he didn't act like Sisqo and DI's comedy gimmick didn't change. There WAS a plastic duck he called Disqo Duck, though. Scott Steiner hated it.
Also, Hulk Hogan had that FUNB run where he wore a black vest, had a speak-the-truth attitude and called himself Terry Bollea so the audience knew how REAL he now was.
Disco Inferno also called himself Dim Shady at one point.
What the hell did FUNB stand for anyway?

When people always try to say Vince Russo was the reason the attitude era was so great, watch WCW 2000 when McMahon didn't filter his 100 crappy ideas and take the few good ones out of the bunch.
The only person I've ever saw say that is Vince Russo I've never seen anyone agree with him 😂
Who are these supposed people saying this? I've never in youtube comments, videos or anywhere seen someone write or say Russo made the attitude era.
@Bryan Mack Well I'm not going under boulders to find these supposed people that are difficult to find. Just like the first reply, ive never seen someone say anything like this. Not if I google, TH-cam or ask personal wrestling fans I know. And no not everyone has an absolute mindset, not even close. That is just a blanket statement with no backing.
Is there a docu actually called "WCW 2000" or are u referring to the show in general?
I miased this entire era of WCW amd wouldnt mind seeing some of what happened, like the works that seem like Live shoots (with Russo being the Heel Boss like McMahon was at the same time)
The one impersonation missing was Mark Maddon trying to be like Jerry Lawler on commentary.
Juventud Guerrera was a great wrestler too man, pure wasted potential, and it was sad when he had to be unmasked. Such a shame.

Hoovie had some kick ass moves though. Too bad they couldn't have just used him correctly. Along with many others.
The JR impersonation was just sick, how would they think any of that would work.
“Who he hell is Juvie??” MJF, AEW Dynamite (11/13/19)
Eh I think he's kinda an overrated spot monkey. The thing that always held him back was his attitude. Why would you go out your way to spotlight a guy who's constantly trying to have the match to be 95% about him, mediocre mic skills but demanded extended mic time and hated every story you have lined up for him because he either wasn't going over every night or wasn't in the main event
Juvie n la parka were my favorite cruiser weights
Love the Juice 🔥🔥
Dude, you have the best outros I have ever seen😎👌
I always thought they should have swapped Stasiak and Palumbo's gimmicks. Stasiak was fair haired and seemed more buff while palumbo had the long curly hair like Mr Perfect.
Also other than the mocking of the bells palsy (which Ferrarra was against doing until Russo insisted as well as it being dropped after a couple of weeks AND vince mocked 10 years later after releasing 2 dvds condeming Ferrara and Russo) Oklahoma was hilarious. It was a parody and it nailed JR's cliche behaviour.
one of the problem with stasiak is you couldn't picture him as being perfect.
Good point on polumbo and stasiak.
Stasiak has zero ring technique, much like Luger.
Hoovie impersonating The Rock was hard to watch lmao
@Michael Price Cause it was clear that the WWF was actually mocking Goldberg with Gillberg, talking about the pipped in chants, the ridiculous win streak and the little pyro's they would use for the entrance. Juventud was not so clear and straight up looked like he was jacking the Rock. I mean how is using the Rock's catchphrases and move and just inserting you're name/nickname insulting? All it did was make the Juice look like a clown which is dumb considering he is an actual wrestler on the roster unlike Gillberg
@Michael Price Actually I'm not a WWE fan you mark. But congrats on showing your a WCW one so clearly you have no objectivity. I haven't watched wrestling since I was a kid you clown so I could give a dam about either company. And why the hell would I be insulted because Hoovie is impersonating the Rock? Stop bitching about why 1 angle gets heat over the other and then go into denial once you get the oh so obvious answer.
@Michael Price Do yourself a favor buddy. Take your head out of your ass so that you might be able to think clearer or at the very least stick it up someone else and let them do the thinking for ya
@Michael Price 😂 You really are a mark. Wrestling is dead you clown AEW ain't doing shit. I knew you were a WCW mark! Why else would you bring up the fact that WCW destoryed the WWF every week for 3 years as if that was relevant to the conversation or if I cared. 2ndly there's a little something called the network. All anyone has to do is watch that to witness how awful WCW was in 2000 which I've done. So I'm not just going off memories of 20 years ago. And when the WWF was doing the Gillberg gimmick they were beating WCW in the ratings and that's a fact not a dream you mark which means your claims that it made the WWF look stupid is just as baseless as everything else that's come out of your mouth.
9:20 With that waterbottle slide he just pulled on himself, its a good thing he wasn't trying to impersonate HHH
Buzzkill's attire looks like Dude Love's
I never would have guessed Kronik were supposed to be stoners.
That's why they had to say it out loud whenever possible
I dint think they were copycats of APA either. even looking back. Similarities but not that much
@Reefer Dude they were good but for whatever reason Undertaker and Kane didn't like them so when they join the company they were split up and one was sent packing the other was sent to help development
Hunter they are the fiend stoners that rage out when they ain't high, I know lots of guys like that
It's based on cronic pain not the drug as stated here there are two different meanings.
They even wanted to turn Hulk into a black guy. Booker T even called him the N word
i watch it that night on nirto ,, I was like wtf he this said
They were probably pissed at WWE mocking them with segments on their pay-per-views with old ppl as the hulkster vs nacho Man with schem Gene and billionaire Ted 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏
I wasn't watching WCW around that time, but damn to hear about all of this blatant, shameless copying and repackaging is crazy. Vince Ruso was either being lazy and uninspired with his job or he was purposefully putting out a crappy product. I'd say the latter is probably true. Think about it, would a company that is trying to keep up with the WWE have Juventude copy the Rock's catch phrases word for word? With all the other ridiculous booking that went on during that time it seems like Ruso was sabotaging the WCW. If that is true then damn Vince McMahon is an evil genius because that's some Trojan horse shit right there.
I've had this theory before and people called me crazy 😂😂😂😂
Yea Vince Russo sabotaged the fucc out of WCW hoping that Vince McMahon would give him another run in WWE creative which didn't happen at all
During these years I had ugly insomnia. Watching WCW always put me right to sleep, literally, I'm not exaggerating. Some of those "angle's" or whatever... Were cheap ripoffs of stuff WWE did. When Sting caught fire and fell off the ceiling. That was their version of Undertaker and Mankind's Hell In a Cell Match. The Hogan and Jeff Jarrett screwjob was -you guessed it- a ripoff of the Montreal Screwjob. Watching a has been 1980s wrestler, was like working at a place with outdated 1980s Commodore Computers.
Positively Kanyon was hilarious though.
Is that why he didn't get over? There were some funny elements to it like the imitation of DDP's walk down the ramp but for the most part it was annoying.
@@blueblur2273 exactly! He sucked…god rest his soul. But he was a jobber. That was the issue with wcw 2000. They wanted to push new stars. But it was all a bunch of jobbers with no charisma at all. Kidman, stasiak, morrus, Jarrett, David flair, palumbo, they were horrendous in their promos. Kanyon, the misfits in action, the cat, kronik were all jobbing for years and then all of a sudden are threats? They were either really stupid or intentionally trying to run themselves out of business. Wwe sucks bad in 2021. But even they can still do better than this crap. Granted it was entertaining at times bc it was so terrible.
@@kendall6515 You're one of the few fans that actually get it. That's exactly why the New Blood storyline was doomed to fail. Because there simply wasn't enough talent from the new blood that was good enough to be main event level. The only ones who really had the potential to move up to main event status was Scott Steiner and Booker T. Unfortunately by the time they decided to execute, it was a year too late and booking was horrendous. All the booking did in 00 was rehash old angles, gimmicks and stories from WCW or the WWF and constantly remind fans that wrestling wasn't real. They didn't get their audience at all. It was really mind boggling to see just how far under WCW had gone in 00 especially compared to the height of their success that was only 2 years earlier. As fast as they became successful is as fast as they ended up crashing and burning. If they only had a little clue about what they were doing in 00 they could have competed with the WWF as fans wanted WCW to be great again even though it was a complete dumpster fire.
Probably.your best video dude. A somewhat unique view on wcw. Nobody has really hashed out just how much they copied wwf and ECW at this time. And again, you've stopped the postulating for humor you were doing before and its improved your videos drastically bro. Keep it up

IMO Kanyon did a good job at being DDP

Positively Kanyon was fucking hilarious, Diamond... I mean, Kanyon Kutting everybody randomly., abducting Buff's mom, calling everyone (including women) "bro." Entertaining stuff. People just like to shit on all things WCW 2000 but didn't live through it, or even watch it.

@@HooglesonInc I lived through it and thought it sucked. DDP was one of the bright spots of WCW when they started doing stupid crap and I don't recall their feud going anywhere.
I guess in the end Kanyon did his job, but it doesn't help that there were so many copycats during this time. Juvetude was my favorite cruiserweight in WCW and I absolutely HATED his The Juice gimmick. And when Booker started acting and dressing like The Rock I had completely given up on WCW.
I was a WCW stan at the time holding out because I knew they were going to get their shit together. Then one day I woke up and asked why am I still doing this to myself lmao. WWF was better in every way by this point and I just stopped watching that garbage product all together.
Kimberly was WCW's Miss Elizabeth.. And in the era this video is about She became WCW's Sable. Right down to the heel turn where she grew a huge ego overnight.
