When I see the words "worst wrestling show", the image of Jake the Snake getting frisky with himself plays on an infinite loop in my head. I need a lobotomy.
Had the dubious honor of watching this on pay per view at my friend's house. We were wrestling maniacs growing up so anything wrestling related was fair game. Imagine the massive letdown.
I was too but being 13 at the time of the ppv I always made fun of the old timers. If I sat through this live id do it for the humor and prob laugh my ass off

No joke, 2 years ago I saw Bushwacker Luke wrestle a match at 76 that was way better than this one on Heroes of Wrestling. I got my photo taken with him, awesome guy.
This brings me back to the good old days of wrestling when the people would say intimidating things like "I am the pillow that rests uncomfortably in the corners of your mind!"
it's interesting you call the Stan and Tully match awful, when many have called it THE BEST match, but a dud finish, and you call the 1st match the best when that usually gets called meh.
The idea this was going to be an actual promotion is hilarious. ECW WWE WCW TNA AEW NJPW CZW ROH PWG........ HOW. As in how the fuck do you take a promotion seriously with the acronym HOW?
Julio Fantastico went on to work B shows in WCW & WWF as Julio Dinero, later went on to ECW then to TNA where he was apart of Raven's gathering. He ended up being a really good wrestler, just never made it big big. H.O.W. was a crap show but i would still rather watch it than modern era WWE.
As much as I hate the absolute tragic-horrorshow ending of this event, there's always going to be a part of this show that sneaks out of my memory and makes me laugh out loud ad inopportune moments: Nikolai Volkoff issues an absolute non-event of a backbreaker to one of the Bushwhackers, and the commentator, with a note of venom in his voice, calls it a "Soft Slam!"
That visual lives in my head rent free. It was as if Volkoff was placing a baby in a crib, that’s how gentle he was with Bushwacker Luke (or Butch, I don’t remember and don’t really care). Imagine being one of the unlucky people who actually paid $20 for this PPV.
@@DrDestructoI remember the condition of the Iron Sheik (RIP) at this time, he was so immobile from years of injuries that I don’t think he could take a proper bump even if he wanted to. But yes this show was a disaster, probably the only good thing I can say about it is at least Bill Stone (president of Fosstone Productions, the company who ran and sponsored this debacle) made sure everyone got paid. I can relate to the disappointment from the 2,300 in attendance and 29,000 households who actually paid money to watch this fiasco. I’m one of the few who bought the TNA Victory Road 2009 PPV, so I know the pain of feeling like you just flushed money down the toilet.
Here's what Wikipedia says about the infamous Jake The Snake incident and "Baby Bundy" Michael Henry in it's Heroes Of Wrestling article: "In an effort to salvage the match, promoter Bill Stone decided on the fly to combine the main events into one tag team event and sent Bundy to team with Neidhart and Yokozuna to team with Roberts. Stone then sent a member of the production crew, Michael Henry, to ringside to consult with the wrestlers. There was no finish planned for this match, as none of the wrestlers involved was willing to take a fall; Bundy and Yokozuna had even had it written into their contracts that they could not be pinned or submit. Bundy pinned Roberts by hitting him with a splash after Roberts had staggered and fallen around the ring several times, despite Roberts not being the legal man in the ring. Yokozuna and Henry attempted to salvage the event and Roberts' reputation by trying to goad Roberts into attacking Henry, making his behavior appear scripted. Roberts was too inebriated to realize what was happening and remained oblivious to Yokozuna and Henry's attacks. Yokozuna then hit a Samoan drop on Henry to make the entire series of events appear scripted; while Yokozuna attacked Henry, Roberts began to disrobe in the middle of the ring and the producers cut the feed immediately thereafter." And here we thought all this time that "Baby Bundy" was the show's promoter. Huh!
It's amazing that Jake Roberts could recover from this legendary dumpster fire. Also shout-out To Tully and lane for having the best match in the show (Apart from the Scorpio match)
Yokozuna was dangerously obese during this event, and yet I remember thinking that Jake looked closer to death than Yoko. He was in rough shape and I was heartbroken for him. I’m so glad he was able to turn things around with some help from DDP.
You know a show is a dumpster fire when even the commenters are confused and cant make sense of the action😂. To be fair tho Tully Blanchard looked pretty good despite being way passed his prime
Just wanna point out how hilariously accurate The Former Yokozuna is since it's a sumo title and they are capable of losing their ranks. That's brilliant on them if that was his actual gimmick. But upon looking it up, Yokozuna can't be demoted so... that's still hilarious.
According to Wrestling Bios, the bald guy was actually Yokozuna's personal assistant and the reason he ended up taking a Samoan drop was because Yoko wasn't going to let him take a DDT from a drunk Roberts.
Be honest...if at least one of the two ' main event ' had been, well average...(Without Jake... glad you are doing well now).. would you have felt the same way??!!¡???

Albano called him out on that when he joined the desk

baby Bundy was the head of security of the casino this was held at.

HOW does a show with only 1 PPV have so many damn grudge matches? Can't they just have a match for the sport of it?

Actually, The Bushwhackers were called “The Men From Down Under” not Men At Work, which was a short-lived tag team in WCW.
The TH-camr Kim Justice's Wrestling Road did a deep dive on this show and I recommend it

The 2nd hand embarrassment I felt hearing the commentator call a Dropkick…..a goddamn flying leg kick.
