So I attempted to vlog about my last market this past Saturday. It's very messy...I'm not good at editing, only have my phone, feel awkward talking to the camera and forgot to turn for orientation lol but I did it. We got poured on. You can see the floor under me starting to flood with water in one part I managed to catch on video. Saturday was a disaster. No sales at all. Loss $55 plus my lunch $15. Plus the weather here has already started to feel like August. It was 95F...humid and a bit windy. Hurricane season starts June 1st till Nov 30th. Indoor events are limited and expensive, so no idea what I'm going to do. The heat on top of possible strong thunderstorms throughout the summer do not make for easy vending outdoors.
Im really proud of you for getting stared in filming! its definitely hard to pick up at the start but it gets easier! the hardest part is starting really so u've done really well! Im sorry your market didn't go well, I definitely understand how the weather can mess you up so much, it's always a gamble with outdoor events and you're right the indoor ones are so expensive!
It sounds like at the very least you need a day off, go it have a nice lunch, sit in a park and de-stress. That might make you feel a bit more energised xx
I definitely do, you're right 😅 I think what's getting me more down is just thinking of the future and how to get things to a better place and feeling lost about getting there... I feel if I knew that I could just take some time off to rest and actually enjoy it 😂
Wow, I legit was going through the exact same this week! I told myself this week I was getting my orders out, doing my market and then just taking a couple days to do nothing. I have been in this "survival mode" for a month now since I lost my 9-5 and it is really taking a toll on me since I have poured all my attention to my business and just constant. Try to take just one day off, I know it's hard but sometimes we have to force ourself to step away from the business and do something totally different. (I know I do) Thank you for sharing the vulnerable parts. 💖
wow Emma you really nailed it when you say being in survival mode, that's exactly how I feel... you're so right, being the one person in the business doing every single thing means you're constantly doing or thinking about things and its exhausting... im coming up to 4 years doing my business and im just tired of chasing my tail only for people to suggest things like "just make more reels" or "have you thought about tiktok" 😂 like literally I have tried everything and views dong equal sales but its hard to explain unless you're in it... I hope things get better for you, sending lots of love - were in this together ❤️
I’ve been feeling the same this whole year. It’s been my quietest year in like 5 years and it’s really unmotivating 😔 I’m taking the quiet time to expand my range and try some new things I’ve been wanting to do. If it works, great! If not, then it’s at least helping me creatively. All the best! 💕
I completely get you lovely ❤️ I’ve made a whole video about some serious changes I’ve had to make to my business just in order to survive this hard period, it should be up in a couple of weeks so keep an eye out for it, I would love to hear your thoughts ❤️
Thank you for sharing ❤ I can totally relate, sometimes you just don't feel your business and that's okay. I've come to realize that I have these periods too, pretty regularly over the year and they come and they go. My best tips is to lean into it, take a break a breath. Usually, the answers come when you stop searching for them like crazy. Hugs from Finland. ❤
Hi Veronica! thank you so much for the sweetest comment ❤️ Im glad to know im not the only one that feels that and you're absolutely right - it's completely ok to feel that way! its very tiring running a business by yourself full time as it becomes your whole life so thank you so much for the support ❤️ Sending lots of love!
Cherish your mom ❤ mine just wants to shop and once she’s done she’s yammering about how little has sold and why my kids and I go through all the effort 😢 we also have to deal with their father who wants all the money you make but is always questioning how you make it but doesn’t help at all - he’s gotten really negative about doing anything especially since covid. Whereas the kids and I enjoy being out in the market atmosphere - other vendors keep us motivated. It isn’t lost on them that they all work as couples and their father has never come. Anyhow - ❤ - yes feel your stress on having to decide everything. Wish you had someone you could rely on 😊 but at least your ma is there for your markets 😊
Thank you for your comment lovely ❤️ Im so sorry you don't have as much support from your family as you would like, unfortunately some people just don't understand this sort of lifestyle and think its all silly... I hope things get better for you and that your kids can bring you joy while at the markets ❤️
Thanks for sharing. Your work is beautiful those strawberrry drops are the cutest! 🍓 rest take naps go for a walk listen to calming sounds care for yourself I look forward to your next episode
Your markets look like they did very well. Love how you have your booth set up. I’m hoping my June, July and August Makers markets do well. This year for me has been a slow start on all fronts of my small business. Totally agree with running a business is tough.
Thank you so much, im really loving how the set up is lately too 🥰🥰🥰 Its SUPER tough, people that don't understand have so idea how much, it really messes you up mentally when you have one or a few bad days... it's really hard to come back from it! Sending amazing thoughts that your future markets will go well! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Vitoria…I think you and I suffer from the same small business owner malady…overactive brain, lol. It makes it so hard to stop…so we keep doing when we need to pause and take a breath. For people who can turn off their brains, it makes no sense. But I absolutely feel your pain. I tell myself, it’s impossible to pour from an empty cup…then my brain argues about the size of the cup and why I’m pouring anything 🤦🏻♀️ I love your videos and how genuine you are. Try to take a moment to yourself every day or two love, even if it’s just a bath or walk outside. I hope it gets better hon..being a creative with a business is like trying to juggle chainsaws with one arm 😐 Sending hugs from the US ❤
Thank you so much for your lovely comment ❤️ I think its so easy to see in the comments who is a business owner and who isn't because if you haven't been there yourself its so easy to say what people should or should do... but the truth is that we DO know what we "need" to do but we can't make ourselves just relax when the bills are due and you haven't made enough money that month to support your family... I think people are a bit shocked to see how honest I am about the lows of business because we as as society are not used to seeing people talk about the bad stuff too... Thank you so much for understanding and supporting and for always being here with kind words ❤️
I took a break from crocheting, IG, YT and just did something for my brain to try to stop it being a butterfly. I feel a little bit more confident in myself now, and it was weirdly nice having nothing to do with creativity for a bit. I think being creative and not earning a regular salary is a different set of negative thoughts on top of everything else. I have no idea if I will attend a market or step away from handmade entirely but I might not make it my focus for a bit, spend some time on improving my video editing skills or something. I don't know. Feel lost pretty much all the time. ♥
Seems like it’s a universal experience then 😂 I feel lost 99% of the time I swear! But yeah taking a break from some things is really good to get u back on track of what u actually want to do! Sending lots of love!
Vitoria, hi hun. oh i understand the no motivation thing, nothing seems to be selling for me in my FB group everyone is so quiet. I have been meaning to start sewing some things, but my motivation is low, thinking no one will purchase anyway. I was talking to my husband and we are discussing if we should go set up at our local market a few times to see what happens... you look like you did very well at yours! 😀 and the weather was beautiful. lovely video , hope you get your mojo back x
Hey Diana... you're so right, thinking no one will purchase our products anyway makes it even harder to keep going and get motivated... I definitely have put all my eggs in the markets this past year or so and unfortunately (apart from very few seasonal markets) they have been declining steadily ... I know its not just me, everyone is feeling that so I know its not me specifically but it makes it so hard to keep going... I hope you guys decide to try the markets to see how it goes! I'm thinking now of possibly having another pivot and doing something else but also scared to start something new when the economy is so bad...
@@lazy_daisycreations whatever it is you are thinking of doing, do it, you're young and as someone once said on their youtube video, "everything" is content. if nothing else you'll have youutbe content xx
you need to stop watching what everyone is doing and do it for the reason you started unless you live in everyone else household you suppose to take positive energy from people not negative just be yourself love and embrace what you do and it will get better I promise.
I understand what you're saying but as a full time business owner I do need to keep on top of my competitors and trends so I cannot just tune all of that out unfortunately! Im sure the reason all artists start is because of the art but we are all struggling right now to make ends meet and that might mean doing things that aren't exactly the reason we started just to stay afloat and provide for our families ❤️
Unsolicited AND amateur advice but it sounds like you may be suffering from a bit of depression. Perhaps speak to your general practitioner? Also, another idea is to take a social break! (Not video making but scrolling). I really hope you feel better soon. I know how it feels to be in the dump for an extended period of time. Sending good wishes your way.
Hi Eve, Thank you and I appreciate your concern and Im sorry you have experienced feeling down for an extended period. I'm not sure if you understood what I was trying to share in the video, which is just an honest and real view of how essentially every single small business owner is feeling right now, not just me. I think we have become accustomed to only see the "highlight reel" of people and businesses that we forget that there are a lot of downsides too...Im personally just trying to share my honest and real experience and you can have a read in the comments below to see how many people appreciate hearing that and feel the same way about their own businesses. Things are tough right now and we literally dont know where our next pay check is going to come from and we are all feeling a bit lost because we are working so hard every day and not seeing any results...
@@lazy_daisycreations yes and being tired doesn't help! Just take small bits of time each day to do nothing but nurture yourself and see if you can feel better 😘
