    Honestly I love your dedication to stick on the base game pack + a few packs
    It makes a good base game lot on its own but could also be edited by the users owning more packs
    A bit like the half finished world you released a few days ago
    Thanks a lot 😊☀️

    I often collect the gravestones of the random townies who always randomly die from neighbourhood stories. My private graveyards often contain well over 100 gravestones.
    Those reeds come with their own insects. One come with gnats, the other come with fireflies. Both offer the option of turning them ON and OFF. You just need to add some dragonflies and mosquitoes.
    Also, you can attempt to catch frogs in ponds.
    That pet gravestone is more elaborate than ANY other gravestone.

    Slough (in this case) is pronounced "sloo" and it means a swampy kind of place. Totally ideal for a cemetery 😅
    Also, the "spire" on the kind of church you're going for is typically a bell tower!

    • @fallaciousjinx
      @fallaciousjinx หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      As a person who is currently writing their master's thesis on cemeteries, I'd like to add that while a swampy ground would be amazing for the aesthetic, you wouldn't want to be buried there - high moisture slows down/prevents proper decay, and your body could turn into a wax-like mummy...

    Slough: rhymes with either ‘blue’ (typ. USA) or ‘cow’ (typ. UK). Usually references a wetland/marsh/bog.
    Not sure how a bog is holy or revered, but “Hallow Slough” is a great place for a graveyard!

  • @MagicalMochii
    @MagicalMochii หลายเดือนก่อน +20

    This build is pretty accurate for an American church graveyard! The graveyard itself is usually very well kept, as it's a sign of respect and remembrance. On the graves, we don't usually have the flowers growing directly on top of the plot, but you will find small vases with flowers in front of or beside the headstone. It was also a good thing that you didn't have a large chandelier to use inside the church, since a church this small would be modestly decorated. Stained glass would have been perfect, but alas... I love watching you build in styles from other countries. You always take the time to do some research on the style and it shows in the build. I love this!

  • @tricitymorte1

    I'm in the US, and I've only ever been in one church that didn't have stained glass windows, but they were still gothic arch windows. The church was incredibly plain, on purpose. It's in the middle of nowhere, and they don't even have a full-time pastor, so they only have services once a month, lol.

    I love creating differents graveyards for the differents worlds of the sims 4 and the best stuff for cemeteries for me are in the debug of Cottage Living (bc there is a cemetery in the map of Henford on Bagley), Cats and Dogs (a cemetery in the island) and Vampires (no need to explain lol) You can find differents styles of graves and it can add a spooky mood at the lot :) (there is a cemetery in the Magic World but it's with spellcasters graves so the debug isn't made for regular sims)

  • @nedrane297

    The kind of churches you are thinking of often started out as something else, such as someone's barn that was just used for social gatherings, and over time it was usually donated to the town with the whole town coming together to make it more presentable. The churches of that time wasn't just a church, it was the court house, it was the school, it was the social hall where they might hold dances, it was EVERYTHING a small town might need. But it was usually built by settlers not architects.

    American Christian here! Your church looks pretty good, but a few notes: as others have said, we would have stained glass windows! Also, we’d have a separate area in the front called the narthex where it’d be a sort of gathering place after service and it’d have access to the basement(basically every church I’ve been in has a basement, but if it doesn’t it has an area to the side that would be a church basement, just on ground level). A church basement would have the toilets but also tables and chairs and a kitchen for church meetings and potlucks and wedding receptions and the like. They’d also have the pastor’s office, though I have seen it off the side of the Nave(the area of the church with the pews). Off the sides of the front is usually a room that holds the bread and wine for the Sacraments and on the other side is a room for the pastor to get ready for service. In my church, the banners and alter decorations were stored in the same room as the wine while the wafers for communion were stored under the alter. It depends on the needs of the church.
    Sorry for the long ramble! I just love church architecture and I love to share!

      I do have plans to build a cemetery in willows creek but since its based off a new Orleans suburb I want to do a traditional new Orleans style cemetery which is a very different beast from any other American cemetery.
      Also America does have lots of churches with stained glass windows but that is mainly Catholics. (Operative word mainly which doesnt mean only) We have a lot of Christian sects that prefer simplicity in their church buildings tho. Some just look like service buildings not churches from the outside.

    Lowkey, I wish the Sims had more religious-themed decor and game play. Doesn't need to be a real religion or anything. They could make one up. But sometimes I want to play religious sims, and it's a bit difficult. The only gameplay that sort of works is the meditation stool from spa day and the little shrine from for rent (you can leave incense and fruit, but it would be nice to have a few more interactions like bowing).

    The graveyard in willow creek I used the founder as my primary lore lot. the graveyard in oasis springs I used the astronaut statue and tried to make the park about exploration and space.
    I would also make those lots a platform to give them a little more weight. You don't need romantic garden, I made the oasis springs one without romantic garden, but it certainly makes it feel older.
