That's because the US is medically advanced. Even then, unless otherwise sponsored by some humanitarian organisation, these procedures can only be afforded by those with the means to do so. So this fact alone has no relevance for the simple fact that the high-end medical procedures that the US is capable of cannot be afforded by its lower to middle class citizens.
      Example:
Epipen Twin Packs cost US$200 in the United States, and US$26 if purchased in Australia.
Coronary Angioplasty cost US$14,000 in the United States, and US$7,000 in Australia.
This is a comparison between a country that doesn't have Universal Health Care (United States) and a country that does have one (Australia).

I have a similar condition to Hof, although not as extreme. I am able to last in temperatures most would find extremely cold.
One example of this is when I was out in the snow one day. I was only in a pair of pants and a T-shirt when I fell asleep in what was supposed to be a snow igloo. I woke up later buried from the waist down yet I didn't even know I was buried till I tried to get up. When I realized that I was buried I just laughed, I didn't even shiver. I haven't gone any further with it yet I probably could survive much colder.

I was wondering about this myself, because I'm like that. My body quickly adapts to the heat as temperatures increase in the spring and summer, so much so that once it's been over 90°F a few times anything under that doesn't feel warm enough for swimming and I start to shiver when the temperature goes below 70°. I have no problem interval training (walking and sprinting) for 12+ miles or wearing dark clothing/long sleeves and jeans while it's 95°. I'm the complete opposite when it comes to the cold though. I never get used to it. Every day I step outside in the winter is painful. I'm from New York by the way.

I have Chiari Malformation and have had to undergo Brain Surgery for it in 2013. 25mm of my Brain was completely out of my skull and compressed..they had to remove quite a few bones in my head and neck to allow enough room. My doctor Also placed a barrier between my Brain and Spinal cord.. there is no actual cure for Chiari and the only treatment available is surgery (in only severe cases). The rest of your life is symptom management which can be draining and very painful.. This condition has many more symptoms and yet is still mostly unknown by most Doctors.. it was surprising and refreshing to see it included in your video! Thanks for helping to spread some awareness about it!!

I am actually officially diagnosed as allergic to cold. Inhaler and everything. Nothing to the point of anaphylactic shock, but I'll get welts on my bare skin and have trouble breathing. It's got a lot better as I've grown older, but I'm still very sensitive to it, such as losing dexterity in my hands when it's not even below freezing and exposed skin going numb very quickly. Didn't even realize that was unusual until I was 13 after my mom saw my hand swell up while holding a milkshake. You get some weird looks when everyone else says peanuts or latex for allergies and you say ice😂

I have another friend who’s allergic to the usual items - coconut, pollen, dust, dander, soaps, detergents, and cleaning products - which are complicated by Asthma. She’s also allergic to soil and dirt. When she comes into contact with it, she gets hives. So, last year for her birthday, I bought her one of those hydroponic gardening kits.

I have a chronic pain condition. My brain is over processing any touch, even clothes on my body. It thinks pressure is pain, and it causes my muscles to tense up in response to my pain. My muscles have pulled my back out of alignment so many times and it’s unbearable to sit for long periods. It comes and goes in waves, but it’s always uncomfortable at the least.
Its not rare. About 3 million people have it in the US, but I’m one of the very youngest. Most people develop it at 40 or older, I started having symptoms at 18

I have Cold Urticaria... I live in Minnesota... it's as rough as you might expect. I love the cold but my body hates it. I get itchy and break out in hives. When I spend too much time shoveling and then go inside my whole body except my face will be patchy with rashes and hives that itch like heck. it sometimes gets to the point where I bleed from scratching and hopping into the shower right after I come in doesn't make them go away, neither does Benadryl or other allergy meds. I kinda just have to wait it out.

It's really hard to live with a condition that no one belives it actually exists. They always think I'm lying and just making up excuses, my PE teacher forces me to go out and run in cold weather. Even with the doctors diagnose!
I hope in the future there will be something that can ease the pain I'm feeling in cold.
