I remember when Yvette was alone on TH-cam asking for a drummer to help flesh out her songs, and now she not only has a band, but those same friends are helping her on her solo stuff. It's great to see.
I'm a (fairly) old man of 50 who's been playing music (keys and guitar) since I was a toddler, and... Hearing your work for the first time a few weeks ago inspired me in a way no one had done in a long time. I was visiting my 76 y/o dad last week and played "A Map, A String, A Light" for him (via Spotify) and he was absolutely moved by your work. Please keep doing what you're doing, and I hope your travels bring you to PHX sometime soon; I'd love to hear you play live, solo or with Covet.
Met Yvette in London UK at chon gig, she's an awesome chick. The end of 2017 was amazing. Good memory getting to meet and talk with her. Loved Her music for years and been a fan sinse 2016.❤🎸🎤
Her set as guest appearance was obviously flawless!😎 she had just released blossom e.p. which is a beautiful masterpiece. It was a great night at garage venue London 2017.
I always enjoy the faces that the drummer makes, it looks like he is on a parallel universe along the music. It's so awesome, you can see true joy coming out of Yvette and Covet
@@cinamynj It was a reference to that Pagliacci dialogue from Watchmen that goes like: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Not sure if this is what she was going for but "Jolt" is a perfect name for this piece. The strong pull of the groove from 6/8 meter really lulls you into a calm sense of "everything is just and controlled" as you steadily bounce your knee to evenly divided measures of 3 and 3; only to have to JOLTed awake by the abbreviated measures of 5/8, or subdivisions of 2 and 3. This song REEKS of tension and release; and that's exactly what makes it great and (maybe?) gives it its name. Phenomenal work once again from Yvette!!
Yvette Young will be remembered through history for what an absolutely ridiculous musician she is. In the same way we regard legends of today. She will be played as examples in music schools/classes, if she isn't already.
@Zen Kuroi Nah man, you can't think like that! Look at it this way: She can give you ideas to influence your own style - Why wanting to become like her, when she already exists? Better do your own thing, and use what she can offer you :)

Yvette and the Covet gang never have a boring music video
I really appreciate how as soon as they start playing, all traces of stiff, robotic movement are gone and they're both just grooving. There's something so satisfying about watching musicians get lost in their music and seemingly involuntarily move along with it.
That piano & drum duet works so well, it's like they're speaking together the same sentences. I love the whole EP, but there is something magical about this particular piece..
Whoa... this song is really awesome, especially towards the end it just gets so polyphonic and crazy yet still super listenable and melodic. And the video is super cool
This girl never ceases to amaze me. I love seeing this type of stuff and watching her get more and more talented. Always shows there is no ceiling for music. Which is a huge attraction to it for me. Obviously she’s adorable too.
So relaxing, even with all the abnormal rhythms. Great work, never knew you were so proficient on piano. I was worried this album was going to just be an experimental exploration into the instrument, but all the tracks are very solid.
My two month old and i listen to this at night together she will stop crying if she is and chill once i put this song on thank you not only for the great tunes but a great way to bond with my newborn daughter.
I feel it is more to do with the subdivisions, I’m not too sure for the whole of the track yet, but during the beginning (and then at the end), the subdivisions were switching between being phrased as sextuplets (123 456) to being phrased as quintuplets (12 345). Hope this helps :)
I'm no musician, I don't know if it is the time signature or what, but I love the vibes I'm getting from the melody. Like it's broken into many pieces. Who knew you could kill it on the keys too. Please keep releasing music, I play your stuff all day at work.
This is the stuff that saves lives. There are a lot of times where, myself included, people come to me, and talk about being down in the dumps, or on edge, and we always wind up here. Anything that has to do with Covet, these three peeps, always save the day. These are truly awe inspiring musicians. You guys do a whole lot of good, believe it or not. And you have helped save lives, in my experience. Thank you for existing, and never lose them smiles~
Super impressed by how you guys made this dope video pretty much nothing but cheap dollar store supplies and it still looks AMAZING! It always inspires me when I see people pull off this kinda stuff
Haha! These guys actually thought you were seriously posing an opinion, eventhough you clearly put the word into sarcastic mode. lol! Just so we're all on the same page: they need to be higher in the air, while higher pitched, while at higher volume, while Forrest is even higher on weed! Ok, got it! ;)
I had not listened to the piano stuff before. Wow, I did not think I could admire your talent anymore than I already did. I was wrong. What an inspiration.
You are extraordinary.....breaking down the walls of convention and showing me what is truly possible .......you are brilliant and an inspiriation. Thank you Yvette! Love Covet BTW.
Loved seeing you guys in Indiana, even though I trashed my knee lmao Love seeing Forrest behind the drums, this lad has the expression of pure unadulterated joy and contempt Dave is such a wonderfully down to earth dude I’d 110% sit down and just listen to even if he was speaking gibberish. Yvette is an amazingly talented artist while keeping with such a huge amount of humbleness about her. Even if she is center of attention she makes room for Dave and Forrest to show that they’re not only essential in the grand scheme of a band but recognizable artists as well. Love you guys so much, cannot wait to see you again (Hey Forrest, when’s your solo stuff coming?)
This song has been a great comfort to my soul, and so has so many of the other songs you've written, but this one in particular lately. Went a bought the record on bandcamp and will likely being listening to it for the rest of my life. Thank you for your skills, your writing, and music. :)
This strikes me as Tigran Hamasyan-esque but happier. So amazing that someone can play both the guitar and piano that well, effortlessly switching time signatures and having such an original sound.
I would pay a stupid amount of money to see the sheet music for this...the time signatures are extremely intriguing to me how almost every phrase begins slightly faster/in a different time and then gradually slow to what you would initially expect the tempo to be.
Thats something i really enjoy, the fact that this three guys perform as Covet it doesn’t mean that the can’t let the oportunity to perform in the side proyect of one of the members, not just as great musicians, but as good friends at the end
i love this so much 😭
Both of you should collab... super music genius collab!!!
omg please collab, that would be my absolute dream
if plini love it.. so do i..
Her guitar stuff translates so well to her piano playing and vice versa. It's like you can almost feel the tapping~
I love this comment more much

Dude, she totally has the Krabby Patty secret formula.
The secret ingredient is love!
Between Covet and her solo work Yvette is truly one of the greatest modern musicians. Been a fan since 2016 and haven’t been let down since.
Made me cry when the song suddenly started "flowing" near the end. So beautiful.
