- Jack Duckworth's final, heartbreaking scenes from Coronation Street as he died peacefully in Vera's chair.
As he slips in and out of conciousness Jack has one final dance with Vera to a song performed by Bill Tarmey himself.
So, goodbye Jack, the Cobbles will always be speckled with tears and the hear of your call "my little swamp duck" [Vera]. You'll always be remembered.

I miss a lot of the older characters: Jack, Vera, Betty, Blanche, Becky.... I hope that Ken comes back.
but Dierdre has sadly passed away. My favourite Corrie character of all time
No shit… Haha of course I know it's Anne Kirkbride. We were referring to the characters. RIP Annie
Tyrone's realisation of the situation was the most emotional part for me
Oh dear god, Tyrone murmurs, "Goodbye Dad". That just managed to break my heart.
Quite possibly the best way anyone has ever been written out of a soap. It was great that Jack and Vera were reunited one final time.
R.I.P. Bill Tarmey absolute legend of a man. Coronation Street born and bred.
I cry EVERY time I see this scene. Not just because of the touching way it's been done, but because of my love for Jack and Vera. Having watched them since I was a kid, they were almost like TV grandparents. Beautiful scene played out by two fantastic legends!
Goodbye to Jack and Vera two much missed and extremely well loved characters .
To the people who gave it thumbs down you are sad :(
thumbs down for losing Jack. thumbs down for making someone sad.
There are many reasons to thumbs down.
i love the fact that they are playing bill tarmey singing wind beneath my wings in the background at the rovers
You don't get couples like Jack & Vera anymore in soaps. They were great characters in the same mould as Hilda and Stan. Despite all jacks cheating ways with other women, especially as Vince StClair, they (he and V) still stayed together and got old together.
This epitimizes why Coronation Street is so special
possibly one of the best characters ever in coronation street u'll be missed buddy :(
jack you were never afraid to have a good laugh may you rest in peace..
The bit where Jack's standing on the street is fantastic. The modern music blaring out as he realizes how much the world has changed around him
I never even supported his charactor but even this brought tears to my eyes. the way he knows he's going to go and is reunited for the last time. lovely.
you just watched it and i know you will watch other tv and films.. you're one of us!
I cried when it was on the telly and when I watch it on here I cry every single time RIP jack:) x x x x x
It's the only time I ever cried while watching Coronation Street.
I was working overseas when this episode was broadcast so never saw it. But I have just viewed it now and, yes, very tearful. We shall all miss you, Jack (Bill), you were one of the all-time great soap stars . . . RIP, man!
RIP Bill....you were one of a kind....
I don't even watch Corrie but that had me in floods of tears. Just reminded me of my dad going.
RIP Bill Tarmey.
RIP Bill Tarmey you were a true Corrie legend
"good night dad "
I've been watching Corrie for over 40 years and this is the only scene that had me in tears.
I cried when I watched that. God rest Bill.
R.I.P Jack and as for Bill, you will always be remembered as a soap legend & will be missed!! R.I.P xx
gem of a man
I missed this since I moved to New Orleans. Thank you for posting. Now, I need a good cry! LOL
The best exit form a soap ever! So well written and directed. So sad but also so happy. Loved it.
@THIRV for me this was so brilliantly done. Feels like we have lost jack twice now. But his legend lives on.
Damnit Jack.
Damnit Vera.
Damnit Tyrone.
I watched this just now and I'm in floods of tears!
Haven't watch Coro in years, but I did see this scene and it made me cry. RIP Bill

R.I.P Bill so sad a great actor
R.I.P. Bill Tarmey..Best Character In Corrie End Of.
you're right there. :((
R.I.P mister Tarmey!
for anyone that doesn't get the whole Vera appearing thing, he was tired, she came to "bring him home". I thought it was a beautiful way to do it. Who knows what happens when we take our last earthly breath?
Thank you, Bill. RIP
R.I.P Great Actor! x
"Goodnight dad" I lost it
what a beautiful way to say goodbye
Bill Tarmey great actor/personality
Rest in peace Bill Tarmey
Rest in Peace Jack/Bill
It is a shame that this is real now; RIP Bill/Jack, you will be missed!
R.I.P Bill.
crying like a baby rip :(
Rip bill....so sad now u gone for real..x
Cheers Gaz, our work at ITV is done. Can we also wish Liz Dawn (Vera) a speedy recovery.
makes you think aout loved ones who have passed before their husbands and wifes after many years of marriage and happiness. Dont know why I decied to search it up. crushed me.
R.I.P Bill , you made me laugh so much loved you with lovely memories off my childhood thank you xx
I'm a big built 6ft offshore rigger who isn't phased by a damn thing, but this reduced me to a quivering, bubbly mess. When he was dancing with Vera, the tears were rolling down my cheeks, my missus thought I was taking the p**s but nope, It was such an emotional exit. They were the heart and soul of Corrie imo and it was a great loss to the show when they both departed
R.I.P BILL...
Good night Dad.
Farewell Bill. RIP.
rest in peace bill
Rip Vera
R.I.P Bill 3 3 xxxx
RIP Bill.
Pure excellence
RIP Bill
r.i.p bill tarmey
its tyrone THAT gets me ..bless rip bill xxx
A great scene makes me cry
"Goodnight dad" - so simple, yet so poignant.
@thecandy118 I cry at the bit where he sleeps on the chair as it reminds me of my Papa who died 7 years ago. The scene where they say about phone an ambulance gets me.
Goodbye chuck
GOOD BYE TO A TRUE LEGAND
laa laa and rw are back for this 10 years in rhll
r.i.p liz dawn
im crying omg arghhh
me too mate. Mind watching this with the wife and being in tears. Great scene
Tyrone was the son jack never had
RIP :(
This is NOT unrealistic because it has been said it is possible that a loved one who has passed away comes for you just before you die to help u on you passage through to the other side that is of course if u believe in the afterlife.
Jack and Vera they made coronation street 😊
How spooky is this... he died exactly 2 years after his death scene was aired on Coronation street.
goodbye
wouldn't have work had vera not come back for him.
It is sort of Ironic and spooky how he then died in real life exactly 2 years after this scene broadcasted In Coronation street Rip Bill/Jack.
He's dreaming about her as he lays dying...
@stefansmom Every time I watch this I cry, reminds me of my gran who sadly passed away.
RIP
the final scene with jack and Vera too soap opera to new territory, challenging us to think of what happens when we die. For ,
love the music, may I have this dance??
If anyone has the alternate episode where Jack gets his head cut off by a saw blade, please upload it!!!
R.I.P Jack Duckworth
....he's actually dead for real!
Quite a good singer, isn't he? :)
LEGAND
MARK HULSE Legend*
@quest1931 He was written out as the actor who played him (Bill Tarmey) wanted to leave the soap.
Yes, well, for Coronation Street that is a heartwrenching poignant send off. It might be tripe, but at least it's good old fashioned British tripe. Now get soused have a bangers and mash and watch it again. p.s. only jokin love
Why must they hurt us like this?
Very sad, generally I hate Corrie, but this episode was very mooving, and made me cry.
Jack giving out advice after he spent most of his life making veras life hell with his constant cheating and treating her like a piece of crap.
He once tried to set ken barlow up for a kicking and even offered to help for the price of a pint.
The lowest of the low
Bye bye
Your comments about this scene are completely moronic. Its one of the best scenes ever in Coronation Street.
It's swan duck not swap duck. My dad is from Manchester.. He called my mother swan duck.
