Good video. I look forward to seeing others. One thing - not being a safety Nazi, just thought it was amusing - I found myself watching the water creep over to the extension cord connection on the floor a few feet away. I'm sure it's on a GFI.
Hello I have a question, About the Sprouting procces, when i clean the seeds with bleach and soak them for 1 day and after that I drain the seeds, what should be done after for the seeds to Sprout further? Should you just leave the seeds or you should keep the moist? And should they be in dark place for them to get the little roots? Hope to get the answer from you as soon as possible because I am struggling with this, I watch a lot of video no one talks about it, they just say after the 1 day of soak the next day the roots will start to come out, and I don't know if there is anything that should be done for it or you just leave it.
After seed have been soaked over night (10-12 hours) they should be placed into the channels and kept moist. Irrigation should run 6-8 times a day depending on the growing environment, and for 3-4 minutes per irrigation cycle depending on the length of the channel. During the irrigation cycle the water should extend 50-60% of the way down the channel, then the pump shuts off and gravity carries the water the rest of the way down the channel to the reservoir tank. It’s ok if you don’t want to use bleach. Here an article put out by LSU Ag Center in regards to using bleach as a seed treatment. www.lsu.edu/agriculture/plant/extension/hcpl-publications/7_Pub.3447-VegetableSeedSanitation.pdf

carolyn stuckey He said the amount will differ depending on your water supply. His water could be from an RO system, with no clorine, requiring more bleach to be added.

This video was intended to show novice fodder grower the best practices. We say you should rinse the seed to eliminate pathogens which can be harmful to animals. Everyones growing environment is different. If you found that cutting some of these steps makes you more efficient with the same results that is great!

Yes, it is a common practice with leafy green veggies as well as seeds
