Hi Frank, your old Lady looks great. What type and or brand is the frontshield? I just bought a Africa twin and im looking hardly for a frontshield shaped like yours
Hi Frank. Can you wire a rectifier wrong? I’ve had to cut connector and solder wires. Apart from 3 yellows, I have 2 red and 2 black.the new rectifier has 2 red and 2 green! So I’ve just joined the 2 reds and black to green(separately) reason I ask,I’ve lost 2 starter relays since
@@FranksWay Thanks for replying. what I don’t get is having(apart from yellows) 2 reds and 2 blacks coming out of rectifier. So the wires I’m joining them to is 2 reds and 2 green wires. I don’t have 1 black 1 green coming out of rectifier! So can joining the blacks to the greens cause the relay problem?🤔
@lawrencesalmon2934 leave black disconnected and check charging...the two reds and greens become 1 in harness...2 reds...becomes 1 red...same with green
@@FranksWay If I leave the blacks disconnect, the greens will be disconnected as well! I’ve looked at wiring diagram for xrv750P. Looks like the earth is a bit further along the cable! And as you said the 2 reds harness to make one,so the blacks have to join to the greens. The 2 blacks coming out the rectifier should be green colour. I’ve got another starter relay ordered, see if this one breaks shortly after fitting. Could the rectifier be sending too much power and breaking relay?
Hi Frank super helpful movies. What motor oil you recommend to xrv750 93r only 40 000km and don't take oil???. I using AMSoil 10W40 dirty bike from 3 sesones. I leave in Norway but Bergen area so temperature between 5 to 20 St Celsius. Br Tomasz
Hi Frank, firstly thanks for all your great video content ;-) it's very helpful and I'm sure I'll need it in the close & distant future. Frank I'm just trying to decide which Africa Twin to buy 🤔 reading through loads of content on the internet I'm a bit baffled and undecided... RD04 or RD07???reviews say they are literally the same bike apart from a few changes to the RD07. I fancy the RD07 around 1993/1996 but there's still some good RD04s kicking around at good prices so I'm pretty spoiled for choice... I'm an ex motocrosser now 56 years young lol, talk & skinny about to get back on the weights to build a little stamina for when I do finally get this Africa Twin, I know it's personal choice but I just wanted to ask your opinion on both models RD04 & RD07 and would appreciate any tips. Warm regards Alan 🇪🇸
Hi there...the RD03 and RD04 where made by mechanics in my view...the RD07 by accountants 😉, the earlier where the 650..RD03...good bikes...all the old Africa Twins are absolutely bulletproof. If you can find any of them in good condition, buy it!!.Thanks for your kind words..safe travels bud, keep me posted what you buy.
@@FranksWay cheers Frank I value your view so much 😉 You know I've been so fixed on the RD07 searching for a good one with low kilometers and suddenly the RD04 is catching my eye even more, plus from what I've been reading the RD04 sounds & looks a more solid bike so your comment about accountants is pointing me in the right direction. I love the look of the RD03 but the screen is super small so I think I'm heading towards the RD04. There's quite a few rd03s & 4s for sale around Spain and mostly in good Nick but I'll let you know what I find 😉 Thanks again Frank your much appreciated 🙏 stay safe & take care
@@FranksWay Hi Frank hope your well bud 👍 well an update for you ;-) I found an RD04 1991 with what I'm pretty sure has 32,000 original kilometers :-) I had no problem doubting the guy I bought it from up in Barcelona, he was the second owner, his brothers before him so I'm the 3rd 😉 I've been giving it a good check over and I've come across a couple of problems which one was the chain slider but I found a new one and replaced it and the other thing I need to replace is the tank cap rubber seal or gasket, the old one has gone brittle ish and has a hole so the petrol seaps out with a full tank of gas 🧐 I've been trolling the internet trying to find a replacement but not one is giving and measurements, even a main Honda bike dealer here hasn't a clue as it's not listed as a spare part in their schematics, it just comes complete with a new tank cap but the cap I have is fine, original so wanted to keep it that way. I'm thinking maybe to take the seal with me and compare it to a Honda Petrol generator because surely Honda didn't make just one seal that size just for the RD04 ffs 🤣 Any ideas would be greatly appreciated when you have time of course Frank ;-) cheers Alan 🇪🇸
Great stuff Frank have you a video on installing a manual switch for the rad ??
Hi, i don't have one for that yet, gotta put it on my todo list.
@FranksWay where can I buy a rectifier/ regulator in Cape Town. Startline cant help
Here is what you can do..search for a mosfet unit or any 50amp rectifier...i think yamaha R1 works as well.

The 3 yellow wires can be mixed, no particular order needed..red is positive and green is negative..black on earth

Hi Frank. What electrical components would cause ECU/CDI to fail? My new 2nd one seems to be making bike play up!

Thanks bud,i recommend Castrol Actevo 4t.10w40..thanks for your support
If you wanna be safe dont use the diy crimp connectors, go instead for amp superseal etc 👍
Thanks,agreed 👌
