Michelle Castro ya its a little sad when you’re growing up and parents din’t teach you or the household doesn’t speak the language enough. Its possible he actually learned it as a toddler/kid, but lost it.

That's how I grew up. Sad because my abuela ONLY speaks Spanish. I was learning it when I was little up until my abuelo passed away & my dad never kept up with it. I wish I was closer to my abuela. Also, my husband is a first language spanish speaker so I'm making DAMN SURE he teaches it to our son & baby #2! I'm not gonna have them grow up & not be able to talk to their grandparents like I did. Lately hubby has only been speaking spanish to him so that's good & I'm learning a little too 😊

I used to cook with my abuelita all time the when I was little, and she only spoke Spanish, so I was fluent then. Then she died ;; and I grew up outside of Puerto Rico where my family didn't want to speak Spanish anymore, so I lost most of my speaking ability. I'm happy you got to do this with your abuela, it's very special, and a great way to keep your Spanish. I wish I could do it again with my mine.

@@Joyride37 It's easier to understand more than speak, because to speak you must come up with the word as you need it.

Exactly, you would think he would be a lot further along. Considering he has the help of his perolike fam. But you gotta really want it.

This is a perfect example of why we should teach our children to speak more than one language. Not because they are going to cook, but because a dual language person makes two in one. They will have better opportunities in the future when it comes to getting better jobs, because they will be 2 people in 1.

I barely know my grandparents. You're so lucky to be close with yours. I feel like i'm the opposite. I understand Spanish perfectly but I can't speak it all that well.

I'm a Filipino with the last name "Fernandez" who never speaks Spanish in a full sentence but I pretty much can relate to every Pero Like videos.
Some may think that Philippines can be too Asian to relate to Latino content but there's actually not much of a difference especially from how we were raised by our parents from the provincial areas to recycling stuff in the kitchen like how abuelita used the old butter container to store a sofrito. 😁😁😁
I wish to see more of your new contents since I'm binge watching all your Latino contents since quarantine 😊😊😊
    ❤❤❤ Pero Like

My mom makes her sofrito in the food processor lol it’s soooo much quicker and it looks just like your grandmas. Also adds a little bit of vinegar.
