Underrated? By whom? I've been listening to this song for coming up to 40 years. Never known anyone to underrate it. I know many many Sabs fans who love this song.
@@alexanderdraper1665 It's underrated because it is a masterpiece, but it was never played live by the band, nor is it known by the general public (unlike Paranoid, Ironman, Warpigs etc)
Bought this Album back in 75' when it came out . Still amazed by how Timeless these songs on this record really are ! This Song has always been my favorite one on the album....just a fantastic journey these songs take you on, Musically a Masterpiece ! Ozzy's Voice, Amazing!! Tony's riffs as always original and all his own. No one ever has or will have the chemistry these 4 guys had.....They were put together by a higher power to Rock are Ass's Off !✌✌
ahh my all time favorite black Sabbath song "the writ" the song works because ozzy is yelling and screaming all through out the song so it sounds like it was made to be listen to loud which makes the song sound much better
Vol. 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Sabotage. What a trio of albums! They were Sabbath at their creative peak and at the top of their game. The anger, frustration, and sheer venom they felt with the music business fed their creativity on Sabotage and it's as if they're saying to the world 'Look, this is us, see what we can do...' The shackles were off (if they were ever on) and they spewed this album out with no holds barred. A work of art from start to finish.
It's one of the most meaningful, well written & bordering on the profound. The song is a brilliantly written polemic, supposedly inspired by the staff at the label the band was working with at the time who'd angered the band.
Nowhere! That's why True People keep checking good old stuff, because this modern world is an insult to a brain! But the music og Black Sabbath will live forever!
You are non-entity, you have no destiny, you are a figment of a thing unknown - a mantle picture of a stolen soul, a fornication of your golden throne” 🤯🤯🤯😎🤟🤟🤟
The dynamic range on this album and especially this song make this easily sabbaths best effort. Even the track order is spot on with the writ ending this piece of art.
The Writ is unparalleled in the Sabbath catalogue. All four members are at the top of their game. Song is on par with this underrated classic LP, though when I cranked Megalomania on the high school football team bus, the end of the second verse was good for getting me suspended for a game!
I wanna salute you and all the people who put Black Sabbath's lyrics on screen. While Iommi's riffs and Ozzy's voice are truly amazing, Geezer Butler was on a mission to express opposition to the evils he saw in society every bit as passionatly as Bob Dylan had done the decade before. And in the words of Dylan "the lyrics are just as important as the music". To see Sabbath as just an early metal band is frustrating to me because they were so much more.
"Your sonship is laying down on the floor! " This tune was written about people the band trusted. Ozzy said lawyers had to be present in the studio when they recorded it, but never named the reason why (this was back in 1975 when the album was released). For those who don't know what the word "Sonship" is, it's the relationship of son to father. Many people who have posted this tune on TH-cam "With Lyrics" are in error when it comes to the section about "A poisoned father with his poisoned son". Most of them have it down as "Your shot trooper's laying down on the floor". Not true. It's "Your sonship is laying down on the floor".
I’m 61 & I’ve had this album on every format there’s been since I was a teenager. 8 track, cassette, CD, download & whatever they come out with next. If I had to choose a favorite Black Sabbath album it would probably be this one.
Always loved this song, yet so bizarre how it's never (or extremely rarely) ever mentioned... There's simply NO other song about the animus and disgust about a blood-sucking manager than this. Ozzy's voice is amazing, and the band kicks ass...gotta love the soft bass intro, then the explosion of venom that ensues...priceless.

Classic Sabbath, and just heavy as hell, it's for sure one of my favorites.
Its the only song that Ozzy wrote himself. Because he was so pissed at the record company.
He wrote the lyrics not the music. Only song I think where he did write the lyrics to
I love the accurancy of the picture in this video. ;-) I am sure the band would too.

The best album of all time
Sabatage is the best album Sabbath ever did! Ozzy's vocals on this song are out of this world . Love it!!! A song Ozzy had a big part in writing.
I would put ALL 13 albums by Sabbath as their best. It's hard to pick a favorite song , but dam this one is close.

Geezer is up there will Neil Peart as a lyrasist

The way I feel is the way I am
I wish I'd walked before I started to run to you
Just to you
What kind of people do you think we are?
Another joker who's a rock and roll star for you
Just for you
The faithful image of another man
The endless ocean of emotion I swam for you
Yeah for you
The shot troopers laying down on the floor
I wish they'd put an end to my running war with you
Yeah with you
Are you metal, are you man?
You've changed in life since you began
Yeah began
Ladies digging gold from you
Will they still dig now you're through
Yeah you're through
You bought and sold me with your lying words
The voices in the deck that you never heard came through
Yeah came through
Your folly finally got to spend with a gun
A poisoned father who has poisoned his son, that's you
Yeah that's you
I beg you please don't let it get any worse
The anger I once had has turned to a curse on you
Yeah curse you
All of the promises that never came true
You're gonna get what is coming to you, that's true
Ah, that's true
Are you Satan, are you man?
You've changed in life since it began
It began
Vultures sucking gold from you
Will they still suck now you're through
The search is on, so you just better run
And find yourself another way
Probably dead, they don't feel a thing
To keep them living for another day
You are nonentity, you have no destiny
You are a victim of a thing unknown
A mantle picture of a stolen soul
A fornication of your golden throne
A smiling face, it means the world to me
So tired of sadness and of misery
My life it started some time ago
Where it will end, I don't know
I thought I was so good
I thought I was fine
I feel my world is out of time
But everything is gonna work out fine
If it don't I think I'll lose my mind
I know, I know, I know, yeah yeah I know
Listen to me while I sing this song
You might just think the words are wrong
Too many people advising me
But they don't know what my eyes see
But everything is gonna work out fine
If it don't, I feel I'll blow my mind, yeah
The way I feel is the way I am!!
This is Sabbaths answer to their corrupt management
if you never had goosebumps in your life....this'll do it.
