  • This falconry video discusses issues and housing for imprints at the brancher age. It also describes transitional equipment to use before the bird is fully fledged and ready for proper field equipment. Different equipment options are discussed for falcons, hawks, and booted raptors such as golden eagles, owls, and ferruginous hawks.
In this video I reference the use of my fur lined jess design for booted raptors such as owls, aquila eagles, ornate hawk eagles, ferruginous hawks, rough legged hawks, etc. The detailed design of how to make this jess system can be found here:
    • How to make jesses for...
Also I reference making aylmeri jesses, though this is not the age that I utilize that system. The following video demonstrates in detail how to make them:

Thank you so much for this imprinting series. It has been tremendously helpful to me. All your videos are excellent, but as am looking to get a young Barbary in June/July, this set was perfect for me. Will keep repeat viewing as a lot of excellent info.

In the picture in the thumbnail it shows the ring below the anklet, The ring should always be above the anklet, as a bateing bird Will pull the ring down against the foot causing damage. You’re welcome ☺️

That is correct. Others brought it up when this video first came out and I explained how this is soft deer leather anklets that are only on for a day or two with NO swivel or leash or actual restraint ever just so they get the feel of having something on their legs. Then a day or two later I put the actual kangaroo anklets on (should be the next video) and you will see the band is then above the anklet as it should be.

I vote for a quick run down of the accipiter imprint system you like to follow. Enjoying the videos great content.

If you want light and strong have you ever thought of synthetic fibers such as Kevlar or nylon?

Yo dude my 4 week old chick stands on 1 leg is this normal? Also bit of a weird question but what colour should his stool be because it used to be dark brown but it’s went light brown now?

Light green is sign of paramixovirus from pidgeon food. Urgently check the bird with vet

Is wood pigeon a bad food source??

Wild pidgeons are risky food source, they can pass many ilnesses. If you have to use them, its better to leave them without head and all intesties👍

Can you imprint a Harris hawk and would u recommend it?

    • @sauronthegreat489

I'm just aspiring to be a falconer but from what I've heard on podcasts it's possible but no real benefit to it as they have a social disposition naturally.

You can imprint just about any of the main falconry birds I wouldn’t recommend an imprint to anybody chamber raised everyday of the week. Imprints are not great to be around they are psychologically messed up they mantle badly over food and some scream constantly all day. Yes they can quiet down with training and routine but that still won’t stop it 100% I know people who have got rid of imprints because they scream at the sight of anything and they don’t have the time to invest into a bird that other than possibly being tamer than a chamber raised bird would not perform better than one in the field. The vices with an imprint are very long loads of problems they are mainly just used for artificial insemination breeding.

@@Zombie_Longwinger thanks for the reply mate great info what about a crèche reared Harris hawk mate?

    • @Zombie_Longwinger
      @Zombie_Longwinger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@MeMarios Why would you bother there is a reason the Harris hawk is considered the beginners bird it’s because it’s very social and forgiving of mistakes you might make.

@@Zombie_Longwinger I've wondered if one was attempting a more odd ball species if passage would be workable but would require more time? Let's say harriers. In North America at least you can release a passage bird but you're stuck with an imprint even if it's not optimal.
