Hi Frenchie well I watched your video on how to align the canopy as mine was the same as yours and it does annoy the hell out of me as well lol. Wound it right out as you said and hopped on to my little step up and had a look at the tension part put my finger on it and pushed down and it clicked in one notch so I wound it back fully and lo and behold it actually lined up perfectly no screwdriver needed lol I was amazed how easy it was. Keep the videos coming mate I love em and thanks for sharing your tips with all us avid motorhomers
Most welcome , I’m glad you sorted yours out , and thanks for commenting and watching the videos , much appreciated , kind regards Mike The frenchies motorhome channel
Oh wow. This has bugged me since I bought my motorhome 4 years ago. How many times have I tried to bash it in! So my awning fabric has separated, but hey, at least I can fix one problem! Cheers from Queensland, Australia
Frenchie I just purchased a near new van and I see the Fiamma F45 has some cord around the front of the awning so I suspect it has the same issue so when I get it out I at least will know how to adjust it. Yours is the only video I have come across showing this. Thanks John. Well done from Australia
Great video. Thanks! We're on holiday and noticing that our fabric is loose and flaps in the wind, I think (I hope) this should also fix th3 loose flapping. With limited tools and just needing to borrow a step ladder, this should be fixable!
Thanks for sharing... on holiday and it hasn’t returned to contact position, needless to say I was fretting about this until watching your videos. Thanks again 👍
Had my van serviced and asked them to look at this. Copious amounts of silicone spray made no difference, they did not know about this. Thanks, I have done it myself.
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel I'm happy to report that I have cured our awning, it took two attempts, I hadn't quite tensioned it enough first time, there was a slight gap. Now it's really neat, thank you so much!
Excellent Tim great news and well done ! It actually took us a couple of attempts to get it right too , these things are never straight forward but with patience & perseverance we managed in the end 👍 Again , thanks for watching the video Mike
Appreciate the video mate. My parents van needs this and a new winder gearbox. Local companies only want to supply and fit a new awning... at $2500! Think I’ll be fixing this myself. Thanks again!
No squeaky wind fix as yet unfortunately, although I did use wd40 on all the joins but to no avail, thanks for watching the video, much appreciated 👍 Mike
Hi Frenchie, I have the same model and it's loose on the winder end. I noticed someone else asking the same thing but did you have an answer on how to tighten that end? Thanks, Rich
Hi rich no we found no adjustment at the other end only the end that was sticking out , we was t expecting it to work but it did and it stayed like that until we sold the van last year , ( video is now 3 and a half years old )
Hiya Frenchie Ive a fiamma f65l with the same problem (same as your video, the loose end is opposed to the winder end) but with the awning fully out I can't see any tabs to accept a screw driver, any advice would be appreciated thank you.
hiya in the top left hand corner there is what looks like a cog wheel , thats the adjuster / tensioner on a 2012 model fiamma , we tightened ours by moving it slightly downwards towards the floor
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel by winding the awning in slightly ive found notches in a blue plastic wheel (not notched around the complete circumference) on the opposite end to the winder, couple of clicks and boom sits like its come from the factory ... thank you for your advice Gent👍👍your a superstar 🍻
hi tracey sorry no i don’t know , it was just that one i had the problem with . you should be able to go onto the fiamma website and download a manual where you could hopefully find something on there , sorry can’t help thanks mike
Useful video. My problem is similar, but it's the winder end that will not close. Is there a similar mechanism at the other end, or do you turn the opposite end in the other direction (if you see what I mean!)?
hi ray yes i know what you mean , i can’t remember if there’s an adjustment up that end , i’m quite sure the tensioner was just one end , is yours the same model ?
Guaranteed I would have broken the plastic bit by hitting the screwdriver too hard AND scratched the van in the process. Anything requiring a bit of finesse is a disaster when I get involved. Well in, mate, you're braver than me.
haha i had no choice it had to be done or risk the wind catching that edge of the awning when driving and end up losing the lot , luckily it worked , thanks for watching the video all the best mike
Hi Frenchie, This looks good! I am hoping that it works when I try doing mine. I am a solo traveller and I find myself stuck (a very long way from RV place) I will try tommorow and let you know. Tracy - Australia.
Hi Tracy , thanks for watching the video , I really do hope it works for you , it can be a bit fiddly and you may have to play around with it a bit and have a couple of attempts , but it should work , good luck Mike 👍
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel It may not, as I had to pull it down last night, and it looks creased? I could not wind it in completely. I have just done 8,000 km alone, I am glad that this did not happen Outback!! Such a big country I live in ( Originally from UK)
Wow well done on the 8k alone! , must of been fun , but sometimes unnerving , definitely a learning curve , if it’s creased badly it could be folding up and that’s what’s preventing it from going all the way in , you may need a couple of helpers each side to pull on it as you wind it in or a really scorching day to soften the canvas which may help
Hey there! thanks for sharing this video! I recently bought a Fiamma F40 Van and I've seen it doesn't close propperly. Is the mechanism similar of yours? Thanks! =)
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel Nothing on the other side, AFAICT. I believe the 'Presto-fix' adjuster works by pushing out a lobe so the perimeter is a little longer on that side, thus taking up a greater length of fabric when you wind it in. I read that before the presto-fix, the advice was to stick some tape to the roller on the slack side, so it wound in a more fabric.
No problem i’ll always try & help if i can , I’d say it’s probably stretched , if the awning came with the van its almost 20 years old so a possibility the tension cable itself has stretched or the tensioner adjustment cogg itself has come loose from the cable , its hard to get in there and almost impossible to see anything behind it , these things are so annoying and frustrating, no room to work in
To be honest I’d leave that to a specialist , it’s something I wouldn’t really want to have a go at Incase I drilled holes in the wrong place etc , your local dealer should be able to quote you on the job , sorry I couldn’t be any help , thanks for watching the video Mike 👍
This may be useful. Mine currently stuck in the out position and won't wind back in. Any tips? Happened last night, so I strapped it down in case of winds and will tackle it this morning :)
oh no! what a pain , can’t say i’ve ever heard of that happening , is it stuck all the way out? all we did was tighten the over stretched cables by adjusting that cog , hopefully there should be a troubleshooting downloadable pdf from the fiamma website , enjoyed your spain trip by the way , good references to the aires and very informative 👍
@@TheFrenchiesMotorhomechannel thanks Frenchies. Got some help from next door vanners. The cog you are talking about was getting stuck on a screw that had come loose.
