Nice review on the new Ganzo Delica-inspired folder. Might just buy a half dozen of these to give as gifts. Surprising how many people are blown away by this gesture, and actually make good use of these knives. Personally, I wouldn't carry one, if only because I don't like FRN scales. The Ganzo Endura-inspired G732, with G10 handles, however, is one of my favorites, along with the G727 and the G729. I agree, if there is one drawback to Ganzo knives, it's their wimpy jimping but, other than that, they're my favorite folders: affordable and built to last.
Only point I wanted to make is I'd rather have a sharp spine than a rounded, or deburred as you said. Better for sparking fire steel and for a few other related tasks. Thanks for the review.
The issue this side of the pond is that I can still get the Ganzo for $12 whilst the the byrd is $44 and the Delica is $120. Basically Spyderco is being way to greedy so in the end the Chinese get all my knife money. If they priced things sensibly here they get a lot more business. I dont doubt the Delica is a great knife but is it really a $120 one?
I live in Spain but I'm British so i can order from any European store. Importing from the US is a difficult and often very expensive practice since it involves duty then VAT on top. Basically it can double the ticket price so i never do it. The pond mention is the Atlantic ocean
The question is; is the Delica $108 BETTER than this Firebird? Or what $76 better than the Byrd?? HONESTLY, noo. Better? Yeah for sure but def not $100+ better. Im sorry Spyderco stans but its not.
Great knife for little money, my daily tasks are easy / medium so I was looking for a knife that doesn't cost much but that it can do the job. The Firebird F759M is perfect for that, 440C steel, lightweight and compact. Spyderco and Byrd have increased prices by 30 to 40% in the last couple of years and the quality has remained the same if not worse at least as far as Byrd is concerned. Recommended Firebird F759M for light / medium EDC, I've been using it for the last couple of months and for $ 15 it's definitely worth it.
If Spyderco wouldn't refuse to put a finger choil on the grips of the Delica 4 and Endura 4, I would consider buying them. But as long as they don't listen to their customers I'll stick with the Ganzo 759s.
I'm not a metallurgy expert, but in my experience with both steels 440c (even ganzo 440c) is a little better than 8cr13v in edge retention. Some companies like Boker turn out really great 440c knives
Before I started learning more about blade steels I thought that cheap chinese steel was some kind of large improvement but after using several 8cr13mov knives for a while they couldn't compare much to my 440C knives. 8cr13mov can get pretty damn sharp but it doesn't hold an edge for shit.
@@paulrayl9470 True that 440C is "slightly" better than 8cr13mov. However, 440c is not necessarily "harder" than -8cr13mov. The listed range for 440C is: 57-59. Where 8cr13mov is listed as: 58-59. That of course is dependent on how each individual example was heat treated. But no, 8cr13mov done correctly is not "softer" than 440C. They should be about the same "hardness" if they are both done to specification. knifeinformer.com/knife-steel-composition-chart/
lol I got one of these ganzo knives... it has really nice lockup. Grind isn't perfect towards the tip on 1 side, I'm not concerned. And yeah all the edges are nearly 90 degrees and kind of rough on the finger. The action on the one I got is pretty stiff. I'm just gonna open it up, smooth it out a bit and use some sandpaper to make the oval less sharp on the inside, and the thumb ramp to close it (gonna smooth that out a pinch). I'd say it's worth the money, it's useable as is for sure and I'm sure it'll break in fine
I personally will never spend over $10 on any knife, even though I love knife porn, as much as the next guy. But, this particular style of knife, has always been a dream buy for me, ever since I had picked up one of a similar style, at the local dollar store. Loved the weight, feel, and usability of it. And now thanks to Gearbest, I will finally have one for the princely sum of $9.01, with free shipping, of course. Hope it turns out to be as good a work horse, as I hope, and need it to be.
Hi Jon, thx for the nice review! I am a knifecollector and have about 20 Ganzo/Firebird knives, and for the price they really are unbeatable! True, sometimes they need a litle love and care...but once wel oiled, sharpend and "finetuned" they are great!!! I almost carry them daily so i can keep my higher end knives in presteen condition. The axis lock works great, 440C is ok for edc use, you only have to watch out for the "soft" metal of the screws and pivot. If they came with a deep carry clip it would be perfect! Kind regards from the Belgian Ardennes, Yves.
Completely agree, also buying a Ganzo has never deterred me from buying an expensive knife. I find the argument invalid, that people who buy a knife for $13 would've bought the original for $200 if it wasn't for that darn Ganzo!
Thx Jon M, correct..they are a bit on the heavy side, but some of the new Ganzo line called Firebird are skeletonized like the F729 and the F7562...i hope they will keep improving with time?! I tried to contact the customers service for spare screws, pillars and pivots, but after 3 mails still NO reply :-( Selling deep carry clips and anodized spare parts would open a new market for them...I will keep mailing them ;-)
Very similar to the bird but the rounded hole of the spyderco is the best. Overall it ia important it had not sharp edges in the hole like the f729. Regards!

+lefizz55 not sure where you are but in the US amazons pricing is way less. Check my links in the description

+lefizz55 I am aware where England is and have been. Ya I am Suprised spyderco is still so expensive. Cheers mate
lefizz55 “way TOO greedy”

Ten minutes with a bit of wet and dry sandpaper fixes most of complaints👍

Heck ya, love a choil!

I agree. 440C is better than 8cr13mov with a wink and a nod to the heat treatment
Right? Back in the day 440C was the epitome of highend knife steels. 8cr13mov has always been a budget steel and is softer than 440C.

Just checked local prices. I can buy 10.52 F759Ms for the price of one Delica 4. You can guess what I might end up buying.

I think you will be pretty happy with it for the money
Lol I want to see your collection 🤣

+Yew Tree Knives I agree with a lot of this. I find some are a bit heavy but it seems the newer designs are improving

thx 4 video!
Will you have reviews on other ganzo models in the near future?
+Денис Доброта I don't have any new models on the way but I have another ganzo review a few months ago. Any models your looking at?
Yes, I see an overview of the ganzo model. It is this, but the prefix "m" goes to me. M means a more small version.
+Денис Доброта?
Do you think the ganzo pocket clip can fit the delica?
Yes probably
I have ganzo knife. I like the quality. I just dont like that they are copying designs form other brands.
*How many videos do you need to watch for a $17 Knife? Its basically a convenience store knife to buy with a hot dog!*

8cr better than 440c? How?
It's not.
