    I know this is an old video, but, you are the first honest person I have seen posting about these fridges. When the outside temp rises, and when the humidity rises, these things are much less efficent . These fridges works well in lower temps and humidity. We always place froze water bottles in freezer compartment and the fridge compartment to help with the temps, and it works for us. Is it a pain, yes, but it works. And as long as this $3000.00 not cold will function, I will keep it. When it craps out, I put in a residential model. Enjoyed your video.

    I rarely comment on videos, but you did me a huge favor. I couldn’t figure out why my fridge wasn’t cooling very well. It was that slider. I just bought my first rv that because my wife is a nurse in a covid hospital, and needs to quarantine. The RV is an old one but still in really good shape, but I’m having to learn how to do things as I go. Your video helped me immensely. I also got a good laugh out of the “blow up everything” comment.

    I learned long ago, to use crumpled up newspaper in our frig, which absorbs any moisture. Close the frig & never have mold or any moisture when we open it for a camping trip in our HiLo. We live in a 5th wheel.

    Mait always enjoy watching your videos. I always learn something. From my experience the freezer always gets cold first (usually on the bottom left corner) then eventually it spreads to the fins down in the fridge which will eventually cool the air in the refrigerator. You are correct that the higher the outside ambient temperature is the more the fridge will struggle to maintain its coolness. They just can't rebound like our residential ones can. And yes be quick when opening and closing the door it really will get things warm fast if you start taking your time by browsing.
    I'll share a little tip that I discovered long ago which will help jump start and speed up this entire process. As soon as you turn the power on place a bowl of ice (or several blue ice) in both the freezer and refrigerator. This will help drop the inside air temperature much quicker therefore cutting down on the entire cooling process.

    You probably saved my life by telling us to turn off the refrigerator when filling the fuel tank in our Class C. Our water heater is very close to the fuel nozzle. I never thought about turning off the propane water heater when fueling up the vehicle. Thanks for the advice.

    Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

    If the refrigerator was full of cold food it would not rise as much. I would suggest ice jugs while cooling and water jugs to help maintain the temperature. The idea is correct but cold food helps to equalize it much faster.

    My prowler lynx 255 is a 2018 and the first shop I took it to had it for all of 2018 (bought it the end of dec 17) (explore rv in Texas don’t ever go there), they didn’t fix anything and submitted warranty claims so when I moved and took it to Arkansas to another shop they couldn’t submit claims because the work had already been claimed. They worked on it for another year and now in 2020 the side is delaminating and the roof is leaking all the way around with mold coming in. Literally trash camper, refrigerator isn’t working now. I have 22K camper that is totally unusable with no lemon laws or warranty because they had it so long. Nightmare. You guys seem like stand up people, wish I could have took it to you.

    why is condensation running down the side on. outside of my dometic refrigerator ???

    • @TGORVCO
      @TGORVCO  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As the fins condensate and this melts, it drips into a tray in the rear. The drain for that tray should go out the rear vent opening on the outside wall behind the fridge. It's normally a black flex tube about a 1/2" in diameter.I would check this out first. Then I would look at the freezer and fridge door seals. If the seal around the freezer door is not sealing, it may be allowing cold air to escape and condense the humid trailer air between the upper and lower door. You can test your seal by putting a sheet of paper between the frame and door seal, closing the freezer and pulling the paper out. If the paper "drags" the seal is OK, if the paper slides out without drag the seal may be gone and need replacing. This is my simple test to determine how my door seals are working.Thanks For you comment.

    Just a tip: fill your freezer to the maximum, adding bottles of water if needed to fill in empty spaces, and your refrigerator to the minimum, both at home and your RV to save energy!
