    Our little Dometic has served us well over the years. Who can complain when the ice is frozen and you're running at a setting of 4/10 with an outside heat index of 110F?

    Hi Cindy & Rich, we’ve had three Airstreams over the years. On our older ones I’ve often used bungee cords on cabinets, closets, refrigerator, etc. In our current Airstream we have 2 small cabinets, one above and one below, the refrigerator that have horizontal handles on each so I always use a large bungee that crosses the fridge door hooked to each handle. Have never had the fridge door open during travel but the bungee makes me feel like I’m covering “just in case.” I also have bins in the bottom to hopefully catch any spills. I guess, like you, I prefer to pack and plan than to have to clean up a big mess that might be prevented. Safe travels & happy camping.

      Thanks for watching and those are all good tips! It's amazing the "just in case" stuff we all do to make sure we travel without damage and/or a big mess...

    "Secondary Containment Structure" said the Nuclear Engineer. Never run frig on propane while travelling, been using frozen ice packs placed in the freezer and refrigerator sections. Also travel with a memory thermometer which records how high the temp reached while traveling. Usually doesn't get higher than 42 upon arrival. Good tip about not loading up the door. Haven't had any breakage issues but something to keep in mind.

      Thanks for watching and for the awesome comment. The memory thermometer is a great idea and we may look into something like that just for fun. I noticed another TH-camr recently had their fridge door come off and the first thing we noticed was how full the door was...

    I bought an indoor/outdoor digital thermometer and placed the outdoor sending unit in the fridge that way I can monitor the fridge temp w/o opening the door.

    Hi Sarge / Cindy. Good stuff, just ordered the thermometer. We have a 2019 23fb Flying Cloud, which has a build in fan to cool the coils. Another tip is to use a 10-12 inch stick to prop open the top vent when it is warm. It definately helps with ventilation and cooling. I actually use a heavy duty twist tie, which stays ridgid and straight and I can wrap it around the latch to secure it while propped open. Also, great advice on the TPMS. We purchased the EEZTire TPMS and it works perfectly. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks for watching! Hopefully nothing will every happen to the Luv Sub but if catastrophe ever strikes, our first choice would be a 23FB Flying Cloud - awesome layout. Great comments!

    Very informative. I did not think about getting the refrigerator cold the night before. Thank you so much. Also, nice tip about not using propane during the trip. Our campground is only about 3 hours away so propane is not needed. Where did you get that little curtain rod for the refrigerator? That was a great idea! I will definitely be watching more of your videos especially since our RV is a couple of years older thdn yours (2005 Forest River Surveyor SV-230). Thanks again.

      Thanks so much for watching! We're glad our tips might be useful. We bought the little expandable curtain rod at Wal Mart - it's the smallest one they offer. Safe travels and we hope to see you and that 2005 Forest River down the road some day...

    Hi thanks for the tips. I was under the impression that the frig cools faster using propane? Our 25ft wide body vents out the roof-I believe that an advantage-more like a chimney.

    To hold your refrig door closed during transit, there is something that I used in our first, older motorhome. I purchased these from Amazon...Only downside, they have to stay on the frig...but they are not a terrible eyesore....just an alternative:
    Baby locks ......The oblong ones....that attach in 2 places, and you can unlatch one end... I could not get them to copy/paste...

    Nice tip on the battery operated fan, I've never heard of that but will certainly look for one. I freeze a case of bottled water and put as many as will fit in the fridge and freezer before I leave the house. Makes it much easier to get the fridge cold when I reach my destination.

    Many refers have a 12 volt option which is ideal while traveling. I don't know why so many now don't have this. In the motor home, I leave the gas on for the refer since I would know if there were a problem and its easy to turn off at a gas stop, even though the refer is on the opposite from the fuel filler. There are roadways where gas is required to be off at the tank such as some tunnels so that would be a pain.

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching! We recall going through the Chesapeake Tunnel where there was an inspection station. They just checked that our tanks were off but at least it was a very convenient turn off.

    You should think about replacing your fridge fan with a computer fan. Absolutely silent, moves an equal or greater amount of air and consumes 1/5th the energy. We replaced ours recently, it’s a 10 minute or less job for $20. Worth every penny.

    So they didn’t provide door airing cards with your refrigerator? We had a 2014 25’ and now have a 2013 30’ and have/had door airing cards for both the freezer and refrigerator doors that double as a shelf divider. We also have two cheap plastic place mats that are taped together that slip inside the freezer to cover the back. Any frost sticks to it rather than the back of the freezer and is easily removed and disposed outside. Maybe your expanding rod could have a third function of holding the door closed by being braced against the door.

    • @LuvSubbin
      @LuvSubbin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and those sound like great suggestions! I will need to do some further research on "door airing cards"...

    No need to start duct taping your fridge when you have a fridge that work and no need to put huge spill container when you just close your lid properly. This is just overdoing thing and panicking with everything. RVing should be relax 😂

    • @LuvSubbin

      I literally just read on an Internet forum today where someone's fridge opened in transit and dented it significantly. Do you watch Embracing Detours? They are very competent RV'ers. Their fridge opened enroute and dumped their contents onto the floor. How about A Little Unhitched? They duct tape all their doors - something we don't even do. We've had beer bottles tip on their side and dump their contents into our bin... Just saying.
