As an electrician I get hired in by conctractors and (really) if I do not wear protective gloves I get a warning and 2nd time I will be fired from the project. Try connecting wires in a junction box with gloves on.
its the same way over here in america, im a mechanic for caterpillar and have to go out to surface mine sites to do repairs and you always have the damn inspector up your ass and you have to have on reflective cloths, hard hat, steel toes, saftey glasses, face shield, gloves, fall protection harness, ear plugs, and if your using a hammer you have to have on a leather coat on top of all that shit in 100 degree weather, its ridiculous, your video hilarious :-)

This is so funny, Health & Safety may be important, but it gets taken too far at times, and out of context, it is abused to control workers. Good examples are workers who cannot wear shorts during hot weather. I actually know of someone working for a large organization that got heat stroke because of excessive PPE during the hot weather. Interestingly the bosses would not let him record heat stroke in the company incidents book. The UK is so shit at protecting workers from excessive heat, many workers suffer fungal infections on their feet and genital areas, because of having to wear restrictive clothing all the time, and toe protecting shoes which sweat the feet excessively in the summer months. For instance why does a cleaner or a swimming teacher need to wear steel toe caps, its just ridiculous and ill thought out policies which are actually putting UK workers at more not less risk. Workers should be allowed to wear shorts and skirts in the summer months, and lightweight cotton short sleeved shirts. Also Health & Safety is being used has a tool to control peoples behaviour and curtail freedoms when people are just out and about. The woman who gets kicked of a supermarket for wearing bikini top is a good example. This is happening all the time, and Health & Safety is frequently being cited has an excuse to control people in what only 30years ago was a free and easy going country to live in.

Heath and Safety came in and did an audit, and decided it needed a guard. The thing that was fitted to it not only makes seeing what you're doing damn near impossile, but you can actually move the wheel so it hits the guard. Idiots!
Health and safety is complete and utter bollocks. I have driven to places where all staff in a factory including the office part must wear a high viz at all times. I am surprise they have not taken a 5 day course on how to take a shit.
