I own a couple of them. Use them often. Keep them in the truck along with a little bit of other gear. My wife and I go out for drive on the trail and pull over make coffee or tea and dinner and if it’s dark we have a nice gas lantern lighting.
What?! No boil test?
lol, have a nice weekend, brother.
Just remember that the leather case for the canister is NOT included, even if its displayed in the pictures. It is a different accessory!
I'm going to order that, that is awesome, especially when a can't have a campfire. Awesome video, Ernie. thanks
Nice way to wake up on a Saturday morning to an awesome review. I just ordered one. Keep on making your very honest videos
I have had one for about a year, and I enjoy it a great deal. I also have the Fire Maple firefly lantern, and I think it has a slightly nicer glow. but it is harder to light and I bet the silicone O rings that hold the globe to the base will eventually wear out.
The great thing about these is that you can use almost empty gas canisters that are too empty to cook with but contains plenty of gas for these lanterns
I use this lantern with these functionally empty gas canisters
Nice job Ern, as usual. And if nothing else it's really attractive. Now if they just made a little heater attachment to pop in the top....
I have been looking at similar lanterns via Amazon for about 3 years, after watching this review on this Fire Maple I think I'll look into getting two of this brand.
Don’t have the tank holder but I love my fire maple products especially the lantern
Just ordered one. Great review
Neat little item that seems well made. I have laid in a lot of K1 kerosene, probably 25yrs worth of extra wicks, and multiple kerosene lamps already. We also have 30 of the 100hr Readyhour liquid candles
Love your reviews! Very cool item. May get one.
Looks like a great replacement for camping lights that are so glaringly white! I like the idea of "ambience lighting" when outdoors - or indoors for that matter! Thanks for this review - would love to see more. ATB
I've had mine 4 months and I never figured out to turn the glass to light it. Thanks for showing me the way. However, it's the first item I had before you posted an ad.
I've had one for over a year now and I love it....I'm going to have to get me one of those leather covers 🙂
I’ve had one since they arrived. I always use it when auto camping.
I bought a Walmart Stansport hurricane lantern and use it in the house… my wife looked at me like I was crazy. This is a cool looking lantern.
I have the other Firemaple lamp (Firefly) and I also got the tank cover. The purpose of the cover is not just to look cool (it does), but to insulate the rank to prevent condensation from forming on the tank, since it gets cold as the butane boils off in the tank.
Great channel really enjoy the reviews
Good review thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Thirty five years or more ago I bought a Primus single mantle lantern with a Schott globe that was tiny, bright & very packable. This looks like it's more for ambiance in a cabin or home, rather than for in-tent backpacking use, especially with the classy leather cover. For camping or other actual utilitarian use, I'd opt for LED lighting in terms of useful light and safety. I hate the idea of a flame in a small tent.
I like the idea of that. Runs on propane too with an adapter too right? I use candle lanterns in my tent for alittle heat. That might be even better. Thanks forthe review.
woah Bro ! looking good, haven't been back to your channel in a bit, looks like you lost a tonne of weight ? or maybe its just my new laptop makes it look that way. eitherway, thanks for still doing great videos, even after you took all that time off way back ;+)
How does the brightness compare to a UCO candle lantern? When camping, I hang a UCO in camp and have it burn all night. The warm light provides a feeling of comfort and safety. Been considering the Orange for that purpose but having a hard time justifing it.
Any issues with the canister leaking of your leave the lantern attached? Like the idea of leaving it on the table to use as a decorative candle lol
Good for drive in camping, but I would not carry glass in my backpack.
Hey :+) my speakers arent that great, is there any sort of hiss from this when its lit? I ask because we are way up north where its cold, and sometimes the gas valves/regulators hiss in the cold.
I find that I use mine all the time I’m just camping, not hiking.
I have already bought that lantern and am very happy with it. Until Fire Maple sends me one for free I think the leather cover is a waste of money.
eh... seen other videos on this
I'll stick with my UCO Candle Lantern
but for the most I use battery powered stuff
no flame, NO ACCIDENTAL FIRE!
oes that lantern come equipped with a carry handle?
Ernie it costs £50 odd pounds with the leather cover they have to be bought seperate, wish they would send me one for free, only way I would buy it.
Ernie would be cool to get your opinion on best stoves for high altitude 12,000 ft and up. I know you don’t have the altitude where you’re at. Any input you have would be interesting.
🤣🤣🤣
@@MothKeeperI’ve used my Trangia in Bolivia at 14,000 and got boil at 7mins. Do you have an opinion mothy on high altitude and stoves?
FYI, Ordered the cover and my version does not have the Fire Maple name on it.
if it is as quiet as it appeared on video, that, to me, is the #1 selling point. Why didn't you talk about that.
Polycarbonate and piezo.
Why do my comments constantly disappear?
If you were to put a piece of aluminum foil behind the light would that not enhance the capability of lighting? Jake McClellan The Oregon Boy 👦
why isn't it making any noise?
Moth "lamp"
Burn time ?
You should have this information.
No mantle required.
Yet another product to become unavailable! 😂
It's a cool lantern but not something I would ever use. Why waste fuel on a lantern when I have a perfectly good headband light.
I have one, and it’s great for using up all the last little bits of fuel left over from old nearly empty fuel cans. It will use those cheap butane cans with an adapter too, and it lasts for days.
Am i blocked?
Ernie, I’m making this comment before I even watch the video. I can tell you that this lantern is not worth the money. It is a novelty item and doesn’t perform any great feats. It will be thrown in a drawer with the rest of my purchase mistakes.
I think they're overpriced gimmicks
Such a gimmick. The sort of thing someone will buy, use once, and then stash in the closet to never be touched again
You mean like my two $$ replica oil hurricane lamps that I use constantly in the summer, in my backyard man cave, way in the back where my hammock is?
I hang them from the fence.
Then why do I have to keep buying kerosene?
Why do people build campfires?
Oh, the ambient, simplicity, to get away from a light switch, I forgot.
@@markraciborski4289 hey, you wanna keep on contributing to the Chinese economy by buying their junk, be my guest.
I agree. Especially for camping. I did get a isobutane primus mini lantern with a wire mesh globe. It uses a mantle and is bright enough to actually use. This one seems gimmicky no doubt
It's called ambience.
@queensalnd
No!
It's called in my hammock, in the backyard man cave camping spot, not have a 747 lock in for an approach, land in the backyard. Or the Airforce, that approach is just 1/3 miles to the east, either thinking the lights around the hammock are landing lights.
Gee, I have to now fight those 1950s, used car lot lighting that is everywhere, that everyone has in their backyard.
Got a set of those over the back man cave fence that burns 24 x 7 as security lights.
Part of camping, man cave yard is to get away from it all.
I have tried 3 times to reach out to you. You said in this video , if anyone can get the sod 260 hinoto lantern, let you know. I did. My comments keep getting removed. So sad. I just want to assist. Im not on those social media platforms you list on your bio page. I am a youtuber and use gmail. My address is in all my video descriptions. If you are interested. ✌🏼
