Sometimes, I really miss painting minis. I used to have a real problem, though. Working at a shop where I had a discount and was around them all day, and having a very weak will, I bought literally thousands of them. And I painted maybe hundreds of them. It's amazing how many great ideas for what you might use a miniature for you can come up with in an 8 hour shift. And how awesome every other new miniature combat game that came out looked...so you might as well get an army...well, two armies, because what if someone wants to try it and doesn't have their own?
I'm trying to downsize as it is, so the idea of getting back into that hobby...It's just not in the cards. My best friend Rob, who provided the Ultimate Dungeon Terrain that's in this video, and I were talking about the possibility of me going back to Maine this upcoming summer, crashing at his place, and doing a long painting/gaming weekend. But he died suddenly this past November. There are fewer and fewer threads connecting me to my home town and it's getting harder to want to go back at all these days. He was my usual painting buddy back in the 90s when I worked at the game store and did most of my collecting and painting.
These days, I mostly satisfy my desire to paint by watching TH-cam videos of painters & crafters.
