I seriously feel like thisbwas made for me. We're moving into a new house soon, and the house doesn't have a pantry. It has this awkward "coat closet" that were transforming into the pantry. And its super small.
I think I'd have put the friend to work cleaning up.

@@erickacolden692 clean and organized mean many different thing to each person. The owner (her friend) probably did a good job to her expectations. You don't need to be so judgmental when you don't even know the person. Also, I do not expect pay from my friends, when I chosen to give this has a love/ Thank you gift. 🤔🙄😊😊

If she'd gone through to remove the expired stuff then why'd shy put it all back when she knew she was coming to organize the thing?Plus she said there were a "lot" of things in there still expired. So yeah, she lied. However, Amy's prob fine w/ it being that she's gonna get revenue from the vid. And the friend, she probably doesn't care one way or the other as she got her nasty home cleaned/organized and more than likely didn't have to lift a finger or spend any money. I've had many many friends and family like her in my life time, until I realized what was up.
That friend of yours need to try abit harder to keep her pantry abit cleaner. That gunk on the floor, walls and shelves were abit yucky. Much better than at first. Good for you!

Just an idea, but if i'd been doing this, I would have removed the wire shelves & washed them in the sink or even the dishwasher [top rack b/c of the vinyl coatng on the wires].

I would have cut off the size detail and put it in the bag so you know at a glance. I do this with my many types of flours +

First, let me tell you, you are a real friend to do such a thorough cleaning job! ( that alone was a job in itself!) The organization was an undertaking as well, but the end result was wonderful!
I wouldve just sprayed it all down with Tilex. It saves at least a half hour of cleaning time and muscle. But yes it looks super great💗

Dry spices don’t “technically”expire. They may lose a bit of potency. Just a bit of FYI. It will not hurt anyone to use a spice past its “best by” date.

Amy Darley 😂😂😂 then I can’t let you in my spice cabinet. I love watching some of the not so hard core prepper channels and dry spices are one of their never expire items. I bet my nutmeg that I use every Christmas is 10 years old 😂. Now, condiments and things that bugs like are a different story. I’m old though I was around before they put best by and expiration dates. I still loved the video!
Jamie Brandon I have spices in my cabinet that are over 20 years and they are fine to use. I agree they only loose a bit of strength in flavor. That’s a lot of money in the garbage. Also, expectation dates are government mandated... doesn’t mean you need to toss when an item goes passed that date. Milk products excluded.
I just tossed oregano and black pepper from two years ago. The color changed and it doesn’t smell fresh or good. The taste is not the original. It completely changes. What would I want old

Very good! I suggest to put a plastic liner to catch any future spills on the shelves such as the clear thin cutting boards at Dollar Tree.
Loved how it turned out and I especially love how you were able to help out a friend!! I love the bins from DT I use the same containers for my pastas, rice and dry goods and I just love them. I wish I had a pantry but I try to keep my cabinets organized as much as possible and seeing you doing it in other spaces is great!! Thanks for the inspiration as always Amy!! Can I ask you a sorta personal question? Please don't take it to heart🤦🏾♀️ I'm just wondering why you didn't make a bucket of hot soapy bleach water and clean this pantry? It seems as if you wasted a lot of cleaner trying to spray such a large area. I know it's not my business and you can do whatever you like however, I'm a curious person and who knows, maybe ill learn something 🤷🏾♀️
Nice job. I kinda cringed when you emptied all the dry beans, etc. into the containers and discarded the instructIons. Just me...but I would tape them to back of container. I'm 64 and still can't make rice without them. 🤔. That pantry was so dark. Perhaps your friend would want to stick those lights you press to turn on/off....on side wall in the pantry to help illuminate. Time for me to get some baskets and freshen up my pantry. Expiration dates are misleading. Most are best used by dates. There is no reason to get rid of things simply by looking at the numbers on a box, bottle, jar, can, etc. With spices, appearance & smell are good gauges. If it is a spice or herb, crush it between your fingers. Is there still a decent smell? It’s usable. If not, or if there are bugs or mold, dispose of it. Canned or jarred items, if leaking, bulging, or just look or smell bad, throw it away. Boxed foods, again by smell, appearance or bugs would be the determining factor.
When putting food items in a cabinet near or over the stove/oven, consider that heat & steam will rise, thus possibly affecting what is nearby.
No "LA'S Totally Awesome" cleaner? The frosty clear basic bottle with red writing on it (yellow liquid). That is 1 of the best $tree items ever. Don't dilute it. Use it full strength & it's a powerful cleaner for nasty messes.
She did not see spills? You forgot tiers. Love the lazy susan.
Are the plastic jars heavy enough to keep out air?
Change your music, please, something soothing, not jumpy, for us older folks
Always unload movable shelves starting at the top. Contents of the lower shelves can help "catch" the shelf if it tips or collapses. (Voice of experience) Nice job!
This is a nice job you did for your friend, and very budget friendly! But, I do have an issue with, at least what seems to be, you transferring the food directly into the containers without washing the containers first. I especially noticed this with the clear, plastic, containers with the white lids and the labels still being on the bottom of each container. Also as a recommendation, when cleaning, allow for the product(s) to saturate first, let it sit for at least five to fifteen minutes so you are not working so hard to clean the affected areas. I know you did this for the floor area, but not for the shelves or the walls. Lastly, if your friend wanted to add a little color, she could spray paint the clothes pins and even some of the baskets to give it a little more pop. I know you cannot purchase the spray paint from the Dollar Tree store, but a $4.00 purchase from a home improvement store, can really make the pantry shine even more!
You are the sweetest best friend to her. You did a great job. I also hoard in my pantry. I think everything looks better in baskets but use up more space than no using them. Your nice voice makes people wanting to watch your video. Good job 👍
I worked in a plastic mold injection factory. You might want to wash those before you dumped the pasta, rice and beans in them. There is a light oil inside

My pantry is the exact same size as that...I use those same white dollar tree baskets...I also cut an over the door shoe pocket organizer to fit the size of the door to put snacks & small items in the clear pockets 😊

Damn, my house is a little unorganized and cluttered sometimes when life gets very busy; But, that's no excuse for not cleaning your pantry cabinet and floor. She should've cleaned the floors at least.

If I put my beans in containers, I’d have to label how to cook them!
I got the answer to this as I do it myself! Cut off the cooking directions and tape it to the front or side of the container! It's that easy.
19queenbee55 I cut the instructions off and slip them inside a sandwich baggie and into the container with the product. You dont have to worry about the outsides of a package touching the food and it stays clean and neat and readable from the food.
I DO put in cooking instructions & recipes in the lid.
i add piece of the label and instructions in the bottle
Dish soap and warm to hot water works on the shelf. I see the shelves are able to be removed

Next time, for stuck-on gunk like that, use a clothing steamer then spray w/ disinfectant and wipe off while it's still wet. Much less work! Especially with those tight corners of the wire shelves.
Caitlin Jones maybe I missed something but couldn’t the wire shelves be slipped out of the holders on the wall? Even if they couldn’t, to me it would be worth getting them out of that pantry and taking a scrubber to them in the sink. Nasty, nasty, nasty! She would have to be a REALLY good friend or I would have to be paid a LOT of money to clean someone’s pantry like that. But it did turn out very, very nice. And she owes you big time! So.... I started watching this.... got a bug up my butt and had to stop the video.. take EVERYTHING out of my little “closet” I keep all of my oversized trays, platters etc. in it. I went to the 99cent store... got a scrubby thing... came home and my Husband walked in and said... “uh oh... what are you cleaning now!” Lol So it’s cleaned, re-lined and organized! I have a bunch more stuff to cart off to the Salvation Army!! So all my cupboards in the kitchen are officially done!!! ❤️ I thank you.. my Husband is happy.. on to the next thing!!! Came to bed... watched the rest and totally loved how it turned out!!! ❤️

Hey Amy. I'm a new subbie. I came across your video when I had to figure out how to declutter and organize my studio apt. Starting with cleaning my kitchen and fridge.😑 and then behind the fridge and on top of it. Ima shorty 4'11 gal so I realize I NEED a 3 or 4 step stool. Lol. Some things I have to clean like ceiling fan with pillow cases. Awesome hack. So I'm taking advantage of this labor day weekend to really clean down my apt. I love your channel. I'm surprised at all of the snarky comments here. There's always a few no matter what, but come on! As far as I know, none of you know these people personally. Maybe the the woman has a really bad back and/or other physical problems and mentioned to her friend that she was thinking of hiring someone to come in to do the things that she she couldn't. Maybe this you tuber said, "How about if I do it? I could use the project for a you tube video on DT organizing?" I'm sure the woman discussed money she'd give her for all of the supplies and her time. Whatever the arrangements were between them were between THEM, and it's nobody's place to be saying "She better have paid you", and "She should have cleaned before you did it", etc. It's none of our damn business what their private arrangements were and so many of you act like you know the situation and are incredibly judgemental. This you tuber might have offered to help out her disabled friend. Maybe in the past the woman took her kids for a week so the husband could work while she was in the hospital. My point is, you all are clueless as to the specifics of this particular situation. I think we should all just appreciate what this lady did to clean and organize these kitchen areas for her friend for whatever reason and without trying to delve into their private arrangements! This woman is just trying to show you what she did to clean and organize with Dollar Tree products and add the video to her you tube channel. Can't we all just appreciate it for what it is? I hope she gave you a Spa Day....and really appreciated the extra work you put into it. Your an amazing person to have done this and hope she keeps it up as a sign of respect to you. But, yes, boxes take up a lot of space and baggies are great for putting items into such as tea bags, Splenda packets...I also re-use my container's of Lays Stax and put dry goods into them. Wrap contact paper around the mid section and make it pretty with my own Labels. Reduce, re-use and re-cycle. :) Cheers!

it's always amazing to me how much snack stuff people keep in their kitchens is that a southern thing (guessing from your accent) I made my kids snack on carrots and bell peppers (maybe that's a California thing_
The only foods that expire are baby food and formula. Dry goods, with intact packaging, remain safe to eat indefinitely. What a waste.
