- This is a project where I learned every generation 1 Pokémon's cries on the piano and made a musical interpretation out of them! You all asked for a comparison video of the original cries vs the piano, so here it is! Which cries do you think were the most accurate?

Alakazam was so OP in gen 1 that even his cry tries to break the piano.
Definitely helps to contextualize the choices you made.

The Bulbasaur and Charmander lines had an extra note at the end that was really throwing me off, but most of these were excellent. Great videos, really creative concept

The zubat cry will always give me PTSD from Mt. Moon and rock tunnel encounters every three steps 😭
There needs to be a red/blue mod that adds these as the pokemons cries

The Pidgeotto and Pidgeot sound pretty off to me. You're playing descending lines when it sounds to my ears that the cries are Ascending
That said, some of them are spot-on, like Fearow and Drowzee.
Good catch! After listening to it again, I'm not sure how I heard the pitch going down, but you're definitely right on that!

Also. I listened to some of your album. Not a huge fan of the presets you used. Kinda cheesy with no offense intended. It’s also kinda all in 4/4… how much time did you spend on it? Hopefully not much. Do you need some inspiration?

I loved Drowsee, Hypno as well as Spearow and the water stars. I disagreed with Pidgeotto and Pidgeot because their cries get higher pitched in the originals, but you went low pitch, high pitch, then mid pitch. Instead of low, then mid, then high pitch. Those cries are very similar to chansey, which you did right. Also for electrode, you smack the piano 5 times, not 3 😂. The cry has 5 “syllables”. Looking forward to Gen 2!
Funny enough, it wasn't until after this video was posted when I realized Pidgeotto and Pidgeot's cries, and it blew my mind because I've always heard it as low->high->mid for some reason!
I have no excuse for Electrode. I wanted to pull a funny and the few specifics it has were overlooked, but you are definitely correct on that lol
What happened with the Pidgey-line? it doesn't sound right at all.;;

If you're not able to play it fast enough it's fine, but you could always speed up the footage in post
some of the original cries were low in pitched, which you did that also in the piano
The like number is 151
It would be better with trills, and are the keys not enough high to express high notes?
We attempted trills, but they don't translate as well as you think they would! and yes some of the cries go beyond my keyboards length, which is 73 keys, so we make do with what we have. It's a musical interpretation if anything!

as another pianist i feel like a few could be closer. pidgey's whole line felt pretty off to me. some were played a little slow too so maybe could have used a bit more practice on those?
This was all livestreamed, so some were played slower for the sake of time, like Fearow for example.

You are correct! Fearow was one of the tough ones to play at the correct speed, with the time that I had, so we slowed it down for m u s i c a l i n t e r p r e t a t i o n
