    Everything Rupert is saying, I heard before in many different ways, from many different teachers. But, it always remained as a lofty, hidden, mystical concept. When Rupert delivers the same, it is so palpable, real, clean, demonstrable. He serves it in such a way, that it is predigested, and simple for the my system to integrate it into its own.

    My mind gets lost in the Hologram and I get lost in your words! I prefer the metaphor of the screen much more I'm glad that you use the screen metaphor in your other teachings.

    I wonder of the usefulness of meditation lies primarily in daily rekindling, remembering the Self. And next meditation expands the knowing and related faculties and perceptions. Perhaps knowing is an increasing revelation in being.

      Probably your computer (or other device) has been inadvertently set to a lower volume and you're not aware of it. I don't hear well at all, and I can hear this OK -- as long as the youtube volume is set at maximum. In fact you're correct -- the volume of this video is lower than normal (but, as I say, it's still sufficiently audible to me, and my hearing is quite poor -- I invariably watch movies with subtitles on, for example).

    • @daverose1458
      @daverose1458 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're probably right since this happens consistently. Unfortunately I have no idea how to correct this. Thnx

      @GetMeThere1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Generally, in most devices you can look under "settings" for "system volume," and adjust there.

    I'm going to challenge you for once : People need anchors, that is, a material backdrop against which to experience peace/consciousness. We also know that stimuli like rain or ocean sounds increase attention. So there seems to be an increase and a decrease in peace depending on the stimulus or its absence.
    Scientists would maybe point to this, seeing it as proof that, while this consciousness is all very good, real and helpful, it is still material and finite.
    Personally I am constantly swayed back and forth between the one camp and the other.

    In this mind the use of the word 'I' always introduces a useless dichotomy (the absolute is not an I) and throws me out of medutation and into the comments section ☹

    Spira repeatedly tries to demonstrate that Awareness is the fundamental nature of the "I'. But is Awareness really the BEST answer to "Who or what am I (?)". Let's think about it for a second. Spira himself points out the demonstrable experiential fact that we are always identified either with Awareness . . . or some object in Awareness. He then argues that since Awareness is necessary for the object, then Awareness is more fundamental. But since the capacity to be identified with (be one with . . .) EITHER is even MORE fundamental . . . why isn't THAT the real nature of the 'I' (?) Indeed, "identification" and "identity" are inseparable, both conceptually and experientially. Notice how this replaces more parsimoniously all of Spira's talk about awareness "moving" to an object and then back to itself. That's just the capacity and process of identification that we all recognize -- and it's our true identity, who we really are. "I" am that which has the capacity to identify with (be one with) anything whatsoever . . . and identifying with Awareness makes me aware of that.

    • @QED_
      @QED_ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just consider "to identify" to mean "to be". I can be a subject or I can be an object or I can be awareness or I can be deep sleep. I can BE any of these. Or a combination of them. I can identify with any of them. Or a combination of them. This being (whatever I am at any given moment . . .) is who I am. Isn't this our actual experience (?)

    'All experience a play of yourself in yourself' ??
    Why would you Rupert have me identify with spacious awareness?
    There is no you, no soul, never was.
    Why introduce this notion?
    The ego loves it to be equated with God
    Brrr!
