I've had a few people commenting to see if I can fix device. Well, if you're interested in having me try to fix your device, feel free to shoot me an email at fixmorewasteless@gmail.com. This isn't a paid service, just something I want to do to help those who need it. You'd be responsible for return shipping and any major parts like screens, so it's not a completely free service, but I'm not charging for the repair. Email me about your device and what the issue is and I'll let you know if I think I can help.
for anyone who is still struggling after doing the stuff in this video, I was able to get my shoulder button working by taking it apart and dipping the whole button in isopropyl alcohol for ten minutes. afterwards, I blew on it while mashing the button repeatedly. I did it twice for good measure, and it worked! Did a celebratory race in Mario kart and we are big chilling
@@666indygo disassemble the dsi Under the big plastic button and spring, there is the actual button (should be like a little black square in a doohicky(sorry for the vague language, it's been a hot second lol)) you take that little switch and dunk that in isoprobyl. The dsi I did it with is still working great (in fact I'm coincedantly playing on it rn (just started Pokemon White 2) Hope this helps
Youre the g, just done fixing the R button of 25$ dsi i got from flea market 😁, all i need to do is dip some of cloth i used for wipe the screen in the isopropyl alcohol then start rub it while press the button couple times and blow it right away...works like a charm
I eventually want to fix my dslite since i love it too much to get rid of it but right now i think ill only make it worse. So im watching videos instead to see what the process is generally like. Great video thanks for posting!
im not even joking as a quick fix i found out which shoulder button wasnt working on my dsi because i couldnt soft reset and blew very light air with my mouth on the shoulder button for like a split second and it started working again. never had to take it apart which was my goal lol.
I did his steps and soaked it even. It was working before then stopped after the steps then I just blew on it like you did and it's working perfectly xD weird
Thanks for the video! I'm surprised how much more popular the dslite seems compared to the Dsi. I'm getting into electronics repair and my Dsi has shoulder button issues. Thanks for helping me see what I'll be getting into. One day I'll give it a go! I was gonna comment about the audio being quiet but I see in recent videos it's better. But during this video that ad in the middle really gave me a jump scare haha!
@FixMoreWasteLess ah that's a good point. The ds lite was my first video game console so I didn't care about GBA games, but that does make sense. And thanks!
Just bought a cheap DSi xl that didn't charged and had a corroded battery i changed it and the charge port as well as a broken sd card reader pin (insane pain to put one back with a relatively big solder iron) and now i just figured the left shoulder button didn't worked and was entirely rusty so now i'm just waiting for a new part as isopropanol alcool didn't do the trick at all😅
funny, my DSI has the same issues, is the same color and i too have a series of videos called "Let's Fix it", defo a channel to support! you earned a sub!
So I tried this but now whenever I press the buttons and it shows the DsI Bluescreen (Well blackscreen with white text) and it say that a error occured and I need to shut off the DsI
Check the WiFi card. If it’s loose, pressing the button might disconnect it and cause this error. If it turns on without an issue you can try turning off WiFi in the menu to see if that stops the error. Then you’d know for sure it’s the WiFi card.
@@dranaugh3687 you gotta just trouble shoot. Id find some more videos that show people taking apart and putting back together the dsl and just keep searching for something out of place, obviously something isnt perfect in your ds you just gotta keep lookin around and taking apart and putting back together different parts till you good
Likely dust or general grime causing your issue. They’re very small buttons so any little bit that slips in can disrupt it. Sadly dust seems to be the silent killer of all electronics.
Hello, You zoomed on the left side on that "washer" (I think you called it so). A des days ago I tried to fix my dsi myself, but i was clumsy and everything fell out. Now I habe two of that washer and while the one on the left is clearly in that gap you showed I have no Idea, where the second has to fit in. Can you explain?
I think it goes under the black bracket on the bottom part of the metal battery case. Should be the one on top that's seen in the video and another one straight down on the bottom.
Hi! This is a pretty neat video, i'll try this when i get the courage to actually open my dsi haha I also want to ask for some advice if its possible, im not really sure where else i could ask about this. I got a new battery for my dsi but when I use it the dsi could only open for a few seconds before shutting down, it works when I have the charger plugged in though so i guess the problem is more on the dsi than the battery itself. Do you have an idea how I could fix this or what I should look into?
I would suspect the battery is the issue. Don’t know if you have another Dsi you can test the battery with or a multimeter to test the voltage of it when charged but I would start there. Also possible the new battery blew a fuse in the Dsi where the battery power comes in though it probably wouldn’t turn on at all under battery power if that’s the case. A multimeter could help you determine that as well. Good luck and I hope you can fix it. Good news is it still (mostly) works so it should be fixable.
Baby steps, don’t fully take it apart but opening up your system and taking a peek and putting it back together could be educational on how your machine works

by whole button, do you mean just the actual plastic bumper? all of the button components?

Thank you! This video made me confident enough to fix the shoulder buttons on my DSi that haven't worked in years!

Glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully your dslite is simple and easy to fix. You can do it!
same bro
I also wanted to fix my dsi after about 5 years of it sitting on my desk imma watch this video later so based on this comment I think it’ll work

Hope your repair goes well! I think the DS lite being able to play gba games makes it a little more popular than the DSi. That’s just my guess though.

didn't do it for me, the left one doesn't work and I lost the washer thing idk if that's a big deal
I have a screw that’s stuck and chipped what can I do ??
so dust is the main factor of just frickign up the bumpers! does this also aply to a ds lite since my left is wack

It could be the battery not supplying enough voltage to the Dsi to keep it on. Does it work fine with the charger in? Do both screens turn on?
@@FixMoreWasteLess yes, both of the screens turn and the dsi works fine with the charger plugged in

I opened the console and once I finish the colors of the screen appear weird, what it could cause it
Is it the top, bottom, or both? Check to make sure the ribbon cable connecting the front and back are properly seated.
Mine had the same problem, shame I was ~13 at the time, I tried repairing it, broke the whole button after 10 mins 😂
Cheers mate works perfect
Thanks
