  • This is the story of Qatar Airways secret crew terminal. How Airlines Work Part 2
    Have you ever noticed that you don’t see any Qatar Airways pilots or cabin crew walking through Hamad International Airport in Doha?
    So where do they check in and how do they get to their aircraft?
    I’ve been given exclusive behind the scenes access at Qatar Airways to answer this and many more questions. In this episode I’ll take you behind the scenes at Qatar’s dedicated crew terminal. This is where the flight and cabin crew check-in, get their pre-flight briefing and then get their own private transfer straight to the aircraft.
    I’ll also show you how the arrival process works. This starts with a dedicated set of stairs at the back of the aircraft for crew to disembark to their own private bus. Upon arrival at Qatar Airways secret crew terminal they go through immigration and security just like the rest of us. The private crew terminal even has its own Duty Free store and luggage belts.
    This is the second video in my series How Airlines Work. Make sure you subscribe and hit that notification bell so you’ll be the first to know when I release my next video.
    Also check out Episode 1: What Really Happens to Inflight Blankets!: • What REALLY Happens to...
    Thanks for watching and, as always, happy travels!

      Agree aviation geeks don't much about QR compared to airlines like LH or EK

    Running an airline is a lot more complex that you could ever imagine!

  • @andiscott8470
    @andiscott8470 ปีที่แล้ว +24

    Same as what we used to have at BA before Terminal 5 opened. Separate operations and crew report centre, busses to and from the aircraft, operations and scheduling all in one building along with crew facilities. Good to see Qatar learning from other airlines.

  • @praveshl867
    @praveshl867 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    This building also has a section for Pilots training administration. I had an interview there while i was still an internal employee of QR. Its a super huge building. This video brought me down to memory lane. 😊

    Very interesting, I think it would be nice for passengers to see the flight crews going to and from the gate and inside the terminal. Can see the positives of the way it is done by Qatar airlines. They do not have to deal with passengers until the passengers board the plane. Also helps to stay focused on their shift.

    • @JeanClaudeCOCO
      @JeanClaudeCOCO ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I like this, cabin crew only has to deal with passengers in the air and not on the ground. Other people who are trained in their respective roles can take care of passengers inside the airport.

    Fascinating insight! I love mega airports and love finding out how things work behind the scenes. There's always so much that goes on in the background that nobody thinks about and it's great to get a glimpse into the inner workings.

      It also benefits the airline significantly. All the crew are together and if any are timed out, any replacements are already in a central location. This arrangement would only work for an airline with a single hub.

    Once we traveled by Malaysian Airlines from Adelaide to Madras. The pilots and cabin crew also entered along with us. It was summer time in Adelaide. My husband ran to fetch a bottle of water. The cabin crew were pointing out his water bottle and talking among themselves. The first thing they served was a cup of water. They understood the need of the passengers.
