I had to figure out a reason to justify putting myself through this and making a video about it felt like the best way to do that.

If you like this video and think I should force myself to play through the rest of the games in the collection make sure to let me know! (very evil and malicious of you)
Yeah, everyone should learn their lessons, but they learn that the hard way, so I going wish that Kingdom Hearts games that should be on TV instead of to go. Replaced with 2B, Terra, Kefka, and Castle Crashers characters instead of legal rights.
I wouldn't wish for this on my worse enemy
Kh3 runs better
Please do!
No. We don't want to see anymore. Everything that happened with Kingdom Hearts 1 happens with the other games as well. Reviewing the rest would basically be talking about the same thing over and over
The funny thing is KH1 and 2 would be perfectly playable natively on the switch…
technically all the titles before 0.2 and 3 would work just fine natively
They couldn't even do a native port for the games that released on nintendo consoles, wild stuff
@@tinglyjungle They just don't care, which is wild to me, as a decent compilation of KH games even without 3 on Switch would sell like it was the End of the World (heheh)
All of them but 3 could
I would agree! They're TECHNIALLY ps3 titles and most ps3 games are capable of being ported to switch decently!
If the drawback is 30fps it wouldn't be a deal breaker because the originals were in 30fps to begin with!
playing this on college dorm wifi is enough to make a man regret his entire existence
Yes, I've been through this EXACT scenario.
Oh yeah it does
Too bad Pdanet+ doesn't allow online gameplay. You could use this to browse the eshop. I am not sure about cloud gaming.
Damn bro
Cloud gaming sucks you don’t even own the game you just renting it
Why would you put yourself through that? That sounds awful
It hurts so much seeing this only for cloud. I know 99% of kingdom hearts fans would have taken the quality drop for a downloaded version
Ohh hell yea
The funny thing is: there wouldn't be a quality drop. RE4 on the switch is awesome. Bioshock Trilogy is great. DMC Trilogy and Shin megami tensei 3 and final Fantasy games are all awesome on the switch. They had no reason to do this to KH. We can get any games i mentioned SEPARATELY and individually. It didn't need to be cloud at all. Whoever thought this was a great idea needs to be kicked in the nuts. It would have been an EASY money maker for On-the-go players. I realize i went on a bit of the rant.
@@thewindyredpanda5715literally the only 2 games to need a cloud version are 0.2 and KH3. Every other game is either PS2 game or a handheld which 100% would run fine when we have other PS2 games on the Switch. And I dont wanna hear that "downgrade" shit like what other 3rd party games do for the Switch. They still run like fucking garbage to the point its not even worth making Switch ports
@@hwanniggles187 i agree!
@@hwanniggles187I’ve been saying that way before it dropped, pretty dumb move on their part though.
There’s absolutely ZERO reason for this to be a cloud version, especially considering that they made a VERY good native port of Crisis Core for Switch
I just bought Crisis Core on my switch to see if it could be a game for a similar video like this one and it runs incredibly well considering what it is. Wild that the PS2 game is too difficult to port lmao
I saw it as them not taking the time to Port the games. They chose the option if a cloud version which would be quicker. Sora had recently released as the last DLC for Smash Ultimate. Seemed to me they rushed out a cloud port to cash in on that hype
the thing is they didnt care about a quality release on switch they cared about launching a cloud service and kh was the victim of this
Square Enix went with a cheaper routine
It's more like that SE has an obligation for it's shareholder to advanced their Cloud technology. What frachise that SE has that makes tons of money and a perfect place to show SE shareholders that they are commited on the Cloud technology ? Yup putting Cloud version of Kingdom Hearts Frachinse on Switch.
As a longtime KH fan I'm just sad for the Nintendo fans who were genuinely interested in playing KH for the first time only to have this be your first introduction. They Should've ported 1+2 natively and called it a day.
i remember back when this released someone said “this is just a new difficulty because of how bad it is” and i havent stopped thinking about it
Thing is, you just saved me from purchasing this game. Riku 2 was HELL to beat. Thinking about this fight with the lag will be a nightmare.
he would truly become unstoppable
I was just thinking of getting it when I decided to check this review first
Saved my money
@@pikabluowner I recommend Legend of Mana as alternative to KH on Switch. It's action RPG from Square it even has Yoko Shimomura has the composer.
Still the most painful stab in the back as far as cloud releases go. Collections of old games have no excuse.
The best part about this video is how you actively talk about how the cloud ports run along your walkthrough as if it were a Creepypasta story.
So, what you're telling us is that all of our worries and concerns about KH cloud version are valid!
You're a champion!!!
As someone who's only way to experience the series is through these switch "ports" I'm glad this video exists and that I'm not the only one experiencing these issues.
Nothing is worse than chugging through a long, hard boss fight. They're at their final health bar and right as you can attack 3-5 seconds of input lag hits as a warning message pops up on screen. I've never wanted to kill a game more than the many, many times this has happened to me and honnestly it makes the idea of going through KH2 FM Critical mode completing Jiminy's Journal a second time feel like literal torture.
Would be nice if we had a Steam version so we can use the Steam deck natively.
Square tries so hard to prevent people from playing this franchise.
which is weird considering the history of repackages lol it seems like only recently they got awkwardly restictive [glares at kh switch pack and kh3 egs]
There is that handheld Asus Rog Ally where you can play Playstation and Steam I would recommend this to play Kingdom Hearts
but it's on-
no it isn't :)

I was giggling to myself while writing that one into the script! Thanks!
I honestly didn’t think people would notice :0
Went over my head? Bit of a whoosh moment for me. Can u explain?
@@fourteenzero I think it’s a little joke referencing 358/2 Days, a game in the series
@@CrazyMan31000 omg I feel dumb thx, real whoosh moment
I know that they're the PS3/4 remasters , but it's pretty sad that PS2 games from almost 20 years ago need an internet connection to play.I seems like it should be a pretty straightforward port job
This feels like Square signed a contract with Nintendo when they got Sora in Smash, to have the games released on Switch, and just put them on Cloud cuz it didn't fit their developers' schedule.
sounds almost identical to my experience but Clayton went down like a bitch for me because I was over-leveled
3:53 I think he's officially called "Ansem Riku".🤔
I was hoping for Kingdom Hearts on Switch for years as far back as 2019 (when I didn’t have a PS4 to play the games in the collection which isn’t the case nowadays) when I was predicting Sora for the Final DLC character of the first wave
And my patience wasn’t rewarded but slapped in the face
I was definitely in the same boat. 😭
@@Pandachu123 I recommend Legend of Mana as alternative to KH on Switch. It's action RPG from Square it even has Yoko Shimomura has the composer.
The biggest crime is calling these Cloud versions without including a playable Cloud Strife
The Kingdom Hearts games will always be 1 of my all time favorite game series because it was part of my childhood
It would’ve been so nice to have KH on the go. I will never forgive Square Enix for this
the even worst part about it has to be that the switch by default already has absolutely shit wifi connections and playing smash damn near requires that ethernet adapter thing. Now you pair that with already trash cloud servers and man its gonna be bad for some people
The commentary on the lag had me so dead 💀! Really well done video
1:39 yup. That is the perfect visual.
Seeing the games being cloud only, I was bummed.
something about this video is hilarious even when you're not telling a joke, def subscribing

LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
Truly the Hero we needed, but not the one we deserved. No ocean could contain you, not even the depths of *THE CLOUD* . XD
KH on handheld sounds awesome, it’s too bad that cloud gaming isn’t working. Personally I hope game streaming is never the stand and just an option, I like my physical copies. Not having my own physical copy just reminds me how companies are pushing for us to not be able to actually own anything and have everything on the “as a service” model.
Its 100% going to be the standard within the next few console generations because the consumer doesnt know better.
@@Exlayer-pk8hy I recommend Legend of Mana as alternative to KH on Switch. It's action RPG from Square it even has Yoko Shimomura has the composer.
Bro keep backfowarding in the beggining it's funny
I have KH Cloud Version on my Switch, but for me I haven't experienced errors and it hasn't really closed that much. I have an 8mbps internet speed, and the lag is very low, and is very smooth for some reason.
Really?
From what I’ve been reading how good your internet is REALLY makes a difference
Edit: so you seem to be lucky! Hopefully I’m lucky too, just got the cloud versions 🤞
@@emankhan2140update?
You are a champion sir. Thank you for this ❤
This is why I bought the PC versions. Not only do they NOT use unreliable cloud technology, but I don't own a PS4, so the Epic Games Store was my only option. But I was SURPRISED by just how smooth the games ran on my PC, which, by today's standards, is REALLY old. Seriously, I played through the entire series, and I only experienced ONE crash, which was in Dream Drop Distance. Other than that, the games ran FLAWLESSLY, save for a few minor frame drops on KH3 (though the Darkubes boss in San Fransokyo did drag my framerate to hell, but thankfully it didn't crash). And I can definitively say that buying the PC versions was one of the best decisions I ever made, because Kingdom Hearts was truly a fantastic experience, and one that I'll remember for the rest of my life. So if you're looking to get into the series and don't own a PS4, get the PC versions on EGS (even if Epic may not be the best company to give your money to). Do NOT, under any circumstances, waste your money on these pathetic excuses for "ports".
Agreed the ports sucks
Except getting them on PS5 or Series X is probably the best modern way to play since KH3 keeps it at a smooth 60fps instead of last gen where it plays up to 60fps, it does drop in frames during certain parts of the game
Edit: also the All in One collection you can get for cheap on console
It's crazy that they're exclusive to the Epic Games Store, I always forget they're not on Steam...
And the PC ports are even better if you add Topazk's RE:Fined mod, it adds alot of QoL improvements and fixes bugs and best of all it gets rid of the online only restriction.
The fact that BOTW and TOTK are even functional on the Switch proves that some of these games could easily run natively. Even DOOM Eternal, an ultra fast paced shooter, runs natively. Native Switch versions of these games are clearly downgraded, but that's sure as fuck not a surprise. It's still very impressive that Nintendo can work with what they have. Functionality>Form
The only cloud version of Kindgom Hearts I will ever want to play is a mod that just replaces everyone with Cloud from Final Fantasy 7
Kingdom Hearts on Switch has gotten so much better
I still find it shocking how KH switch had so much potential, but the cloud gaming made it flop. I get that the base games need a lot of storage on PlayStation and PC. But, I’ve seen other games that are just as large like DOOM Eternal, The Witcher 3, Monster Hunter, and a few others that were clearly made for the advanced consoles, but can still play well on the switch. At least 1.5+2.5 could’ve been a base version.
I still don’t understand why they thought this was a good idea. Especially since the Xbox, PC, and PS4 versions are all ported normally, rather than put on Cloud.
I'm still waiting for this game sales on the switch.
Ima be real with you as someone who played kh2 on a ps2 slim back in the day you’re getting better frame rate than I was.
I am glad I was able to emulate 1 and 2.
Although the computer used renders and lags in some sections, the game is mostly playable and passable.
And even better is it is FREE!!
Instead of spending money for the same lags and crashes on Switch. 😂
If you have a PC to emulate then you have a PC to purchase these games that run well.
@tumultuousv
Haha, not on this PC.
PoS sucks aaaaaasssssssssss.......
And THE original Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 are not really available w/o buying them for ridiculous prices online.
(Which the makers/creators are not getting a single cent for them prices)
Just the 1.5/2.5 versions are what's available nowadays, but I wanted THE originals.
Or other I would get all the KH games on a better PC.
@@tumultuousv The actual pc version they released literaly crashes during cutscenes constantly
the fact that Square Enix was able to miraculously port Nier Automata (a heavier game than any KH games) to the Switch with the help of Virtuous but cant do the same for all KH games is really a Square Enix moment.
kingdom hearts if young xehanort used his timestop move every few seconds
So sad squenix didnt bother making a regular local version
KH on the switch with no need for internet would have been so nice
Thanx for covering this
From what I understand, the reason why it's a cloud verison is due to the file size of the collection. 1+2 Collection alone is 50gb, more than the Switch has without extra storage. But what they could have done is either just sold them separately or have the menu download one game at a time. I usually try and give companies the benefit of the doubt (becuase the gaming industry is a nightmare), but this just feels lazy. And the we have the rhythm game which is perfectly normal!
Square Enix is too lazy to optimize literally anything I swear to god.
A collection of fucking upscaled PS2 games shouldn't be goddamn 50GB
@@Robbie_Haruna Hard to believe that the same company put out native ports of Crisis Core, Nier Automata, and Dragon Quest XI. Those were all high quality.
Remember ff10 on ps3 is 32gb and ps vita port is 3gb? Just "optimal" and the whole colection is 15gb maximum
I couldn’t even imagine playing KH3 with cloud gaming and it makes me sick thinking about it
Yeah I was in the same boat as you. I was initially excited that the KH series was gonna be on Switch...and then they said cloud gaming and any interest I had plummeted. Even moreso after the demo where if you sit through the cinematics for Final Chapter Prologue you won't even get to actually play anything.
I will die on this hill they’re fucking PS2/PSP/3DS games. There’s no excuse for them not to at least be downloadable from the e shop or even split up 1.5 and 2.5
The fact that Dream Drop Distance, a game originally released for the 3DS couldn't get a native port on the switch... Fucmin baffles me to no end.
Plus all of the older KH games before 0.2 and 3 could've been perfectly playable In a native state, really the only ones I'm fine with clouded Is 0.2 and 3.
The rest being Clouded Is ridiculous.
I’ve only had 3 Non-skill issues for switch so far. KH1; returning to Tarzan’s world for black ballad (frame drops and game freezing), and when fighting Xemnas I got black screened (could still hear myself moving around tho). KH2; Coliseum Rapid Thruster level, some would become immortal. Currently on BBS but put on hold because it’s draining trying to collect everything.
I still don't get why Square made KH cloud games on Switch like, half the games are from the PS2, DDD was already in a Nintendo Console, and if KH3 was a problem, it wouldn't matter some worse graphics. If space was a concern, just divide 1.5 and 2.5 and do the Megaman collection thing of, you bought both, but only one is in the cartridge
Oh dear chain of memories is gonna be hell then
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLEASE
I'm still surprised some people defend these kinds of games saying at least it's on the console. Not everyone's internet will be stable at all times. I'll take downgraded visuals and 30 fps to actually own it.
Epic games version : downloads to pc but need to be online to play
Switch version : cloud gaming
Not too much difference but I’d still choose my pc version any day of the week
Fight sephiroth in this version. I dare you.
... might have to hit a McDonald's and beat Sephiroth using their wifi
Imagine fighting KH3's Super Bosses as well.

they missed a trick not making cloud payable
Didn’t even see this video til now
But in a real note i got this game last year and it was amazing no lags either but the funniest thing is that I made my game on one hit kill because I was kinda scared playing it on normal hit
The thumbnail for this video looks like a mobile game ad.
Perfect.
I love how most of the footage is mostly just you getting your ass kicked lol
Surprisingly, my phone's hotspot runs cloud gaming really well if I hook my console up to it, but I've gotta run a VPN through it via jailbreak so I can reach those 50mbps+ speeds
Kh games that could work natively on switch:

Incidentally, Tingly, a good way to beat Riku in the race is to not imitate him. Riku is cocky and a show-off because he knows he can get away with doing things you probably can't do as well as he can. But if you just stick to the low ground and run across the beach rather than trying to be fancy, you're pretty much guaranteed to beat him because he wastes too much time showboating.
The only reason why Square did this was to make money off of Sora getting in Smash Ultimate in the laziest way possible. I'm never playing these games until they port them properly.
KH has been ported so many times, you’d think they wouldn’t fail porting KH on switch, but they did….
It's just Square Enix being lazy lmfao
@@michaelrobosa146 I recommend Legend of Mana as alternative to KH on Switch. It's action RPG from Square it even has Yoko Shimomura has the composer.

Thanks for taking the bullet for everyone, rip in pepperoni my guy, here's your honorary clown wig lol
Some people who defended this decision really needed to hear this
I played though all of KH1 this way, the input delay and loss of progress really annoyed me, I had lost all my progress twice on the last phase of the last boss
3:18 at Atlantica, I had this problem where it stopped registering my inputs but was still streaming what was going on. It kept saying no internet (even beside the router) and I saw Sora swim in circles until I decided to restart the stream
I actually had this problem quite a bit more than any real disconnects or crashes, Sora would just start running around without any input from my controller, very spooky and 100% a ghost and not my terrible internet connection
@@tinglyjungle I was visiting someone who had a decent internet, but I guess it wasn’t that great. My biggest problem came from my first playthrough when I was fighting dragon maleficent. Lag, lag, lag
see now this is just kh1, now kh2 is a totally different story
That’s why im glad I got rpcs3 running on my steam deck I was able to get 1.5 and 2.5 playing great and I got kingdom hearts 3 the remind edition running even with mods by downloading kh3 from fitgirl on a windows desktop and just transferring the folder over to my steam deck with a sd card and adding it to my library now I got the whole series in a handheld form its amazing
Hmm. A lot of people are saying KH3 wouldn't run natively on Switch but... Nier Automata runs great on Switch.
Ikr 🥹
So it’s like retro gaming without a memory card and a scratched disk, ahh the future. Lol
They should've launch the games in physic and in digital, i don't know why nintendo and square enix took that decision
kh1 and 2 could easily play on the switch, as well as every single spin off. not sure why they don't do a proper port
I feel like they were just rushed onto the system to coincide with Sora in Smash but that's between Mr. Square Enix and God now I guess
I constantly forget that Kingdom Hearts technically is on the Switch because I've so completely dismissed cloud gaming as a concept. It barely makes sense for a portable machine to have cloud gaming at all, but then you realise that companies don't bother taking into consideration the fact that other countries don't have the infrastructure for it at all. I'm Australian, and our internet speeds are literally worse than third world countries.
I was so excited and then found out it was clouds and felt absolutely gutted, so I held off for like 9 months. Then bit the bullet because I just like the game so much and I only have a switch. Thankfully it has run perfectly for me. I have been playing it for about a year. I would play for hours without a single glitch and even works with my hotspot. I was shocked! I only get kicked off if I have it paused for longer than fifteen minutes.
I used to have kh1 on ps2 but my mother sold it as some point, so years later i got kh1-3 on switch cuz i didn't understand what the cloud was. Now that ive beaten all 3 games including BBS, my biggest issues were audio delay and very much delayed imputs, ive only crashed twice for the whole 3 months ive had the games. In the end, they work but the thought of not even owning the games on MY switch haunts me to this day.
This might be literally the only way I can play 3, so I am not looking forward to that
They need to see this and just drop 1.5 2.5 remix on cart on switch. We know it can do it as the switch is more powerful than a 360, just cut out 3/leave 3 for cloud if people want it but dont make the other games worse just to make 3 accessible
I unfortunately only have a switch, so this was basically my only way to play KH games other than the Ds and DDD KH games. I genuinely had to make strats to deal with the lag lmao ;-;
Post watch comment: so you somehow had it way worse then me and I played on standard and completed the entire synthesis side quest and got everyone to level 100 and beat every boss, totaling around 50-52 hours just for KH1 for me, And wow. I never had any downright crashes, so I guess I got lucky when playing the worse version of KH. I literally want a PS4 just so I can play the entire KH franchise without issues like this lmao
You know if the switch is your only way to play it’s a super solid way to get your start to the series. (I was in the middle of a move between houses and I played on a lot of questionable wifi during my playthrough so it was definitely not optimized AT ALL) even with all the struggles, it was a really fun time playing the game and getting to experience the series in a new… weirder… way ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
kingdom hearts changed my life forever its insane.
I played birth by sleep perfectly even on the ice cream part
These game's aren't even available in latin america (I live in Mexico), because Nintendo thinks we latinamericans still use telephone modems. The funny thing is, I play regularly on GeForce Now and the streaming is smooth as silk, I almost never have connection issues, and the few I had, the blame is on my internet. Cloud gaming isn't the problem. Nintendo's cloud service *IS* the problem.
There’s really no reason for anyone to hate kingdom hearts unless they hate Disney or action rpgs in general.
Maybe if you just don’t like the crazy over complicated plot/backstory but you can either dive into it or just don’t stress that much about it and it’s actually pretty good
The writing. I can absolutely understand someone hating Kingdom Hearts because of how the writing is made for literal babies at times.
The real critical mode
Great video back in my day……
Something that boggles my mind is that Squenix management to port Neir Automata natively to Switch, a much more recent a graphically intensive game, but couldn't afford the same luxury to Kingdom Hearts? Just... why...
I love it too much but the cloud is where I draw the line your a warrior a keyblade master
Out for curiosity where u playing on wifi or wired? Or both?
I started out on wired and then went through a whole move from one state to another and that's when I started playing on wifi, but interestingly enough the Wifi was almost more consistent than the wired...
I knew from the get go that a Cloud version was gonna suck ass. They should’ve just ported the series.
Hope everyone learn their lessons to never have Sora for Smash Ultimate and Kingdom Hearts games on to go. They learn its the hard way.
I too almost tried to get it on sale because a friend of mine said it ran great.
Skeptical, I still downloaded the demo first. The slight input lag drove me crazy. I just couldn't do it. Glad I didn't blindly trust them tbh.
man that's rought.. all i can say is... PCMR!!!!!!
i love the epic games ports. they work so well :3
I was thinking of KH2 little mermaid stage with lag, that be fully a unbeatable level. F for kids who had to deal with that XD
switch is more than capable of running at least 1.5+2.5 with 30 fps so WTF, SQUARE?
i've been 1 and 2 on cloud honestly best to get it on pc because the audio delay is horrible, if you have one single hiccup you'll feel delay and audio will desync.
