- Expedition Vlog 1: THIS IS IT FOLKS, we leave the UK and travel to France for the first time after Brexit and one of the challenges that brought us was to get Copper, our dog, through into France and hopefully to get a European Pet Passport for him.
The full procedure for travel with a pet was very simple and straight forward.
The French Vet we used was Clinique vétérinaire de Malo

What are we doing and why have we called this trip an EXPEDITION? The word Expedition is used in all our video titles as this word means "promptness or speed in doing something, with a particular purpose, especially that of exploration" and this fits in perfectly with our plan to not only stay out of the UK for as long as possible, but to sample each country we visit to see if we want to come back for longer in our future travels.

One of the greatest feelings, rolling off of the train knowing all the checks are done 'our side' and the adventure begins. I'm on my way home next week, my current 90 days are up 😟! Then I'll be counting down until I leave again.

John, Mandy, Coops.....watching with interest and enjoying your current trip around Europe. Hoping for early retirement in the next 3-4 years once the kids are sorted and it will be similar adventures for us both, thinking about six week stints. Maybe follow the cycling Grand Tours so Italy in May, France in July and Spain in September.....all for the future. Anyway, stay safe and continue to have fun.

I have just started following your channel and look att your videos now and then... but this trip I will follow. Interesting to listen how British people experience Scandinavia (I'm från Sweden). And VERY interesting to see how it works with the tunnel. I'm thinking of going the opposite way and visit UK.

Hi guys really interesting video, I'm out in France and our passports were stamped! . Also I visited a vets in Calais they transferred my UK passport details into the French one as I've 2 years left on my dogs booster. Looks like different vets are doing different ways! Not to worry though at least we all have managed to get one. Enjoy your travels x

Hope you are having a great time. Interesting about your passports not being stamped. We took the car over to France via the Eurotunnel on the 11th September and both our passports were stamped at the French border control. We then came back to the UK on the 26th September and again they were stamped clearly showing how many days we had been in France. I would keep your outbound ticket to prove if you are challenged in the future!! Happy travels

I was an Officer of the Crown, employed by the Parliament and the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, attached to the super secretive Australian Department of Defence and I went on a Cruise in the South Pacific.
One of My stops was Nouméa in the French territory of New Caledonia.
When disembarking from the Cruise ship, My Australian Passport (I have British, Irish and Australian Passports) was stamped by French Authorities.
Upon My Return to Australia I was visited at work (in a Secure Restricted Area) by members of an Australia’s Security Service to ascertain why it had been necessary for Me to visit the sovereign territory of a Foreign Nation and remain there for less than 8 Hours.
Simple enough answer you might say, but the security interview with these Officers took longer to conduct than My entire stay in Nouméa.
Total respect love your life style i am 53 and hoping to live a stress free life away from my stress of work so i am hoping to retire earlier than planned and hope to get a motorhome. I know its not all roses how you live but the main thing is your happy total respect guys keep the great videos coming

Thanks for recording Passport Control and the Pet Side on the Chunnel, looked very straightforward. I understand that the Rabies info can't be transferred over to the French passport. Our dogo 🐾🐾 can't have his booster for 2 more years so I hope his titre test certificate will be enough.we will speak to the Portuguese vet next year. Great Start to your Adventure Guys
I had the titre test too but she still wanted to give a booster. We’ve heard lots of vets doing things differently though so it’s worth trying 👍🏻
@John & Mandy safe travels by the way. We're watching intently as we always have. I retire (young) next year & our plan is to travel with our Betty Burstner & the dogs. The pet passport procedure in Dunkerque reassured us about the simplicity of getting an EU pet passport. So much cheaper there too. Enjoy the ride guys & a big shout out from Ramsgate!
Exciting times guys. We came back in March and I'm looking forward to getting back to Portugal. We've never been on the tunnel before look's cool 😃. I would of thought your stamp is in the micro chip like before . We Were stamped in Spain when we came back . I was gutted because we're residents of Portugal so didn't think they would. It's the loss of freedom of movement, as in your Portuguese etc. residence permit only allows you to spend the same 90 days in other Schengen countries as the other third country nationals have, as I am sure you know. Freedom of movement is only for EU citizens.

We didn't have our passports stamped either going out from the UK. When coming back in we got pulled over and had to wait until they found records of our going into France. Passports were then stamped with exit from schengen and also hand written date of entry.
Ah so maybe we have that to look forward to, hopefully it won’t affect our shuffle

I didn’t think my passport had been stamped either, but the French did it at Folkestone! Apart from that, my experience was exactly as yours was
Greg & Lou had their passports stamped, so who knows if the stamp is significant or not, I guess we'll find out soon 🤣
If you are going towards Lyon, look for the N95 Napolenic Route - its a series of twisting bends in the mountainside - but if you must you can do it after 10 at night - its doable. Then you end up in a place called Antibes. I watched a vodep ca;led Harrys Garage - is a long way but well worth doing. I think you would enjoy it
Glad your first day went well. Another place on the must do is Lake Grimaud, its right down near St Tropez, if you look at the Slaws Adventures, they are doing that now
Hey. Planning on leaving for a 2 month trip to Sardinia via France on the 7th Oct. I was wondering whether all you needed was your double jab proof and french declaration to enter? I read online that you also needed to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 48 hours of entry. Is this correct? Cheers
