    Oh My, I totally agree about the red snappers not getting along with the blue clamps. Thank you so much for solving that problem. I'm going to do things differently now, thanks to you.
    Love your tutorials with tips and tricks of the trade. They are always right where we can get a hold of the ideas. Thank you thank you thank you!

    I use a staple shaped expandable curtain rod with a pool noodle on it where you use the dowel rod.

    I had just learned about putting a rod or yard stick anther the clamp cords. Hitting those clamps is so frustrating. I really like your snapper clips used on the end. Thanks for these great tips.

    Leah! I love watching your tutorials. You make everything look so much easier by the way you take your time explaining and illustrating. Thank you also for letting me know that’s ok to modify things to accommodate MY needs! I was always trying NOT to bend the rules! Now I know my quilting will be more fun and easier with my next project t! You are awesome!

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I am learning as I go and you have certainly helped me along the way. I just started floating and it is much better. I do need to add the idler rail. I watch your video as I load and am doing much better.

    Another great video. I am still getting used to loading the quilts into the frame the traditional way, but if it doesn’t work too well I will consider learning to do it this way. Also, I guess we need another rail to load it this way. Thank you!

    Brilliant ldg...& usage of snappers. I use dowels too. Try cotton ball & rubbing alcohol on removal of sticky rail.

      Red Snappers are great! I am playing with Magnum magnets now too, but you can't beat the price and speed of Red Snappers!

    Thank you so much for this tip.I am constantly fighting with the shortest leader on the top rail. It is constantly coming off the velcro and the blue and pink clamps are popping off because the Red Snapper is in the way.
    Do you have problems with the Quilt top not staying square on the frame since you float the batting and the Quilt top? I will go buy some dowels to put under the side clamps. Please continue with these tips. I learn so much.

    Great tips, Leah. Thank you for thinking outside of the box, definitely going to give this a try! Question about red snappers…….what have you done to make those easier to “snap” on your quilt or is it the more you use them the easier it becomes?

    • @nancylowens9842
      @nancylowens9842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the more I use the Red Snappers the looser they become. I would rather press harder to snap the Red Snappers together then to use pins resulting in getting blood on the quilt.

    Hi! Great video. Can you explain why you keep your ruler plate on at all times? Thanks!

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's simply the most convenient. It's a pain to attach to the Qnique 21 and I often want to grab a ruler to use on a quilt. Leaving the base on doesn't change anything except for the side clamps and that is very easily managed as I've shown here.

    What a clever idea to keep the clamps away from the ruler base!!! I do have a Continuum 2 frame and I have a couple of questions.. My idler rail is attached with a different mechanism (and I don't think such a nice one) and sometimes, the rail pops out as it just lays on the support. Do you have any suggestions to help with this? Secondly, would it make sense for me to attach the top to the lower front rail even if you don't have red snappers. I do have the blue clamps - maybe it would give me a bit more space to quilt with the ruler base on? Your videos are always so helpful - thank you!

    Thank you Leah for this very informative video. I'm going to change the way I load my backing. I want to order the Ruler Base but it is not available now. Do you know WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AGAIN??

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now end of May 2022 is the estimated time for Qnique 21 ruler bases.

  • @traceedock8351

    Does this technique work if you don't have can idler bar? I have a 15pro and don't think I can lose that area with such a small throat. I have a new Continuum 2 frame I am just now setting up and have just ordered the Red Snappers. Thank you for your time. You do a wonderful job presenting on your videos.

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, definitely. You can load the exact same way with or without an Idler Rail. The only difference is you may want to use the shortest leader cloth on your back rail. Honestly, that is entirely up to you!

    • @traceedock8351
      @traceedock8351 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LeahDay You are wonderful to respond. I ended up sewing a casing at ⅞" and using magna tites. I am installing my encoders today after watching your video on that and hope to get something loaded up this weekend to begin learning!

    So, I am confused. I have the idler rail and a 21" Q'nique and I am pinning and I am floating and using the blue clamps. I understand that I want the medium leader cloth on the take up rail and the long leader cloth on the bottom front rail and no cloth on the front top rail. Which way do I attach the two cloths if I am pinning the bottom rail at the front of the frame and the take up rail at the back of the frame??

  • @joanndutton2738
    @joanndutton2738 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Leah, I have a request. Forgive me please I am such a visual learner. Would you please demonstrate exactly how you load the backing onto the lower rail? This particular video explains it but doesn't actually show how you do it.

    Just wondering if you’ve considered basting a strip of scrap fabric to your backing sides to temporarily extend them while you are quilting?

    • @nancylowens9842
      @nancylowens9842 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have cut 6" wide strips that I do sew on the edges to attach to the leaders. Sometimes my customers don't give me enough backing fabric.

  • @michellemadore5172

    When you attach your backing to the bottom front rail with snappers, does the backing go over the top rail or under....?

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The backing must go over the top, front rail.

  • @littlelufer
    @littlelufer 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I tried your technique with the quilt clips on the top front bar, but found it was really limiting my throat space. My ruler base kept hitting the clips. How do you manage this?

    • @LeahDay
      @LeahDay  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You can most likely extend the front rail of your frame out a bit to accommodate for the clips. Check your frame instruction manual and look for the set screws that lock the front rail of your frame in place. Loosen the screws and pull the front rail outward a bit, then tighten the screws back up again.
