    The James Brand to knives are what MVMT are to watches. Purely about style and marketed towards people who know nothing about the product.

      Mvmt have no style at all tho lol they are so crap looking and performing and price. James brand do look quite nice.

    • @XxCrankyMoosexX
      @XxCrankyMoosexX 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. Looks nice, but products are about twice as much as they should be. They price their items comparable to objectively higher quality products, and proven brands.

      I'm surprised they had so much success, but it goes to show with the right marketing and style you can sell anything.

      Most knife collectors use their knives to cut open taped boxes that a butter knife could do so I don’t see your point.

      Agreed! I look forward to these videos and appreciate that they are still happening when everything else is shut down. I also respect that multiple times BHQ has said to make sure you are safe and financially sound before buying knives. Goes to show they are more concerned about people than just selling knives to sell knives.

    Remember when the james brand sold the “chapter” for 275 with d2 steel? Some things don’t change. Where’s the value proposition? No thanks James brand. Rethink your strategy instead of ripping off folks who don’t know better

    Zac's home setup looks and sounds great with some help from Jamie, but these dudes on ESPN doing the same thing look like they are using a 240p webcam and crappy headphone mic. Figure it out, network TV-- BladeHQ is blowing them out of the water.

    I swear there is a "James Brand, TH-cam conspiracy". They sell things for over twice as much as their materials are worth. They're using Chinese factories too, so there's no excuse for it other than gouging customers. But none of the TH-camrs ever call them out. Zac will talk about their design repeatedly (which are pretty slick) but he won't talk price or blade steel.
    I just don't understand how James Brand have been given so much slack and space to overcharge soooo much without being called out.

    • @teatowel11

    • @tidge879
      @tidge879 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@teatowel11 $160 for vg-10. Yeah, it's definitely pretty. But you can get the Hogue Deka with 20cv for that price, which is US made. I just feel like James Brand are consistently twice as expensive (or more) than competitive offerings. They were selling a 12c27 small slip joint for nearly $100. That's the steel on an opinel. It's what Sanrenmu use on their $10-15 knives.

    You guys are awesome I am a big knife guy, the New York Laws I believe were changed in May of 2019, the laws used to say a "Gravity knife" which was super vague and stupid basically meaning anything that an officer can open one handed no matter what even if they held the blade and flicked the handle out backwards you would get arrested Thank god they changed that. Also I love my Spyderco Para 3, Manix 2, and my new favorite the Sage 5 I have been carrying for a while. I have only stone sharpen all my tools including scissors, axes, machetes and many knives, I just enjoy that process it is very therapeutic. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Have a great day everybody! Keep doing this amazing work!

    I carried a benchmade 520SBK from 2010 till about 2016 or maybe 2017 when the spring broke. I picked up a CRKT incendor with the non cerated blade shortly after and it easily became my favorite knife I've carried. I lost it in June and being that its a discontinued knife I cant get a new one.

    I'm from Ireland as well. Unlike most people my edc is discreet and police safe-ish. I carry a leatherman sidekick and the smallest opinel ever. For survival stuff my fixed knife is either a custom tracker (basically a home forged tracker without the saw and, a unified edge and a tanto like shape at the tip) or a cudeman boina verde 299B plus a morakniv basic always sitting in the bottom of all my bags

    Thanks for the video, it was very interesting. Cool that you do not lose your sense of humor and smile. It gives a positive attitude.
    All knives are very cool, but some are expensive for EDC. I think that the single blade pocket EDC knife should be: from a minimum of parts, not expensive, easy to wash, easy to sharpen, have a snap lock.
    They should not be scared to do the most difficult and dirty work. My choice -Ka-Bar Hunter . But I always carry Victorinox Classic SD with me. For me this is not just a magnificent knife, but also a kind of talisman, an amulet.

    I have had two sets of omega springs break back to back…20CV Grip and CF Elite Bugout. Less than 60 days after purchase. I replaced them with after market springs and haven’t had a problem since. That said, I’ve owned my Super Freek for 2 years, at least, and once I cleaned it up and oiled it, etc, it’s been my favorite knife w/o a single issue. Hit or miss I’m guessing. Maybe a different gauge for a bigger knife?

    IDEA:
    Give 5 - 10 guys 5 - 10 different EDC knives to use for a year. All different blade steels. They all must be hard use knife users.
    They send in pictures of the knifes after each month of use. Then they send the knives back to you all after 1 year.
    They describe in detail their experiences with the knives... Likes / dislikes / pros / cons / etc.
    You all show us the knives and talk about them or even have video discussions with the people to ask them questions about their experiences with knives.
    So basically a hard use knife test with various users to show clearly what's important about different blade steels and lock mechanisms and what they're good for and not. We can see real world testing of the differences so it will be more easy to make informed decisions on blade we buy and use.

    Actually Taylor, the way you pull your knife out is completely up to how your brain works. You either pull it out on the face of it, or you pull it out from the spine of the knife. I absolutely love my Dirac, and I find it's completely based on your brain and habit. I actually like the Ultratech better too in the end, but ended up selling it. I can't express enough on how beautiful Microtech puts the anodization color or however they do it, whether it be DLC or cerakote, on the T6 60-61 aluminum handle. Mine was blue with a black dagger blade half serrated, and it was absolutely gorgeous.

    I have the Ontario Shikra. It's a great deal for the money but I rarely carry it because I personally find it way to "stabby". I've been bit by that knife more than any other that I own. Perhaps I'm just too clumsy for it...

    Hey Zach, I've been a huge fan, and have seen ever video. One thing I think we'd (us 35 and younger) all like to see might be the best DAD KNIVES. What do those old folks like? What steel? What deployment? What locking mech? I want to buy the old man something that he might enjoy, and I wanted to see what info the community might come up with.

      I'm 54 and started toting a knife to school in about the fifth grade.
      Always was a case guy until I bought my Benchmade barrage. I like big knifes but a lot of the old guys love the Case brand. I work the crap out of a knife and the barrage is super tough.
