    Why am I shopping for sawmills now??? I have no business but you're making me want one... Nice video. Looks like fun.

      I watched your firewood video and thought, if Neil had a sawmill he would have enough slab wood to burn all year long. I just take the mini and clamp a big pile of them and chainsaw up into 18” pieces.

    I LOVE the shop. I'm so jealous because all 3 of my saws are outside. We do have same track loader though. Tip on short logs. Put a sacrificial but strong board against your stops and then dog the short logs to it. Then cut down enough to where your short nub stops on the rail will catch it, roll it over, and keep cutting.

    I ordered a Lt35 Hydraulic mill last April and might get it at the end of this May. Can't wait to start milling. Have chainsaw milled for years. Thank you for what you show on your videos.

    Great video Jeremy, it’s always fun to watch you or Nathan make a little saw dust with the Miser’s! I like the Walnut for the stair tread’s to show off the beautiful grain and you could always stain the ash stringers to match if that’s what you are after, although I think the contrasting colors would look great as well. There are lots of tough finishes you could use to make the surface durable, you just have to watch out to make sure the treads don’t get to slippery, particularly in a rental. Of course there are lots of other options for the live edge slabs like countertops, islands and tables and stables (🤣🤣). You always have a great eye for the spectacular so I have full faith whatever you decide will be a show stopper! At the very least it gives you something to do while you down a few suds!🙂🙂

      I totally agree with you on all of that, especially the remark about the contrast between the two species.

    Interesting about the moisture inside the shop after cutting the logs. Good stuff.

    • @CairnCreek
      @CairnCreek  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could literally feel the moisture in the air. Although not in typical fluid form, those logs contained 100’s of gallons of water.

    • @CairnCreek
      @CairnCreek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I determined we will use ash for the stringers and walnut for the threads. It will look fantastic and totally be structurally fine.

    They need to get it together 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @CairnCreek
      @CairnCreek  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wait for a Woodmizer is FOR REAL! I see some used units pop up every now and then, but they are more loot than a new one and you’ll likely have to drive for several hours. Don’t get too discouraged buddy, you’ll get one.
