So basically its impossible to get to Evermeet for 20 different reasons and even if you manage to get there anyways, its just an island full of snooty elves.
An all elf campaign could be really interesting. I've always been drawn to them, I think it would be fascinating to put yourself in the shoes of a creature with such a long lifespan. Just think how radically different our own history would be if we had living memories of the world as it was in the 1500s
It is most interesting to me that elves live some of the longest lifespans, yet often times value their lives so low. Amlaruil's children suffered horrible fates, another reason why she grieved for so long, one of her daughters straight up sacrificed her life and soul, and dragged an Elder Eternal Evil with her to elven heaven to save the lives of Evermeet.
I once wrote a campaign where a Vampire Queen employed her navy to attack Evermeet with the unwitting help of the party in order to obtain a Mythallar. Thanks to Evermeet being partially in the feywild, the Mythallar they obtained (through dubious means) was still functioning and, as you probably guessed, a conduit for incredible power. This island is just perfect to hide powerful hidden treasures or ancient evils on. It's a fabulous way to open a campaign (with an elven adventurer opening pandora's box etc) or a great sojourn away from the normal enemies of your campaign (undead in my case).
I love how you can see how much they were inspired by Tolkien's works (obviously themselves inspired by myths and legends) and it would be cool to create an Earendil-type character who actually manages to get to Evermeet.
Evermeet does indeed seem to be inspired by Tolkien's Aman, but then WoTC deviated from his elegant simplicity by deciding to create a rulebook to explain why you can't reach them... 🤦♂️
One thing that's bothered me for years was that Rockseer elves never get any play. They debuted in the AD&D 2nd edition campaign "Night Below." And they were the absolute best. Any thoughts?
I had already decided to start my first Campaign with a shipwreck and washing ashore a mysterious Island that turned out to be in the Feywild. I only later realized that Evermeet and the Misty Isle were a thing and very similar in lore to mine so now Seeker of the Misty Isle is my favorite Prestige Class.
any chance for the meepo aka the shotgun wielding kobolt for one of your forgotten realms villains as people tend to find him interesting and he might be a good april fools topic as he is out of convention
The defenses of Evermeet, just like everything FR related, seems to have been written by an 11-old playing "my character is stronger than your character".
I feel it was inspired by the Elves going into the west in Lord of the Rings. Where men and others could never get to. But since it's DnD they had to give it mechanical reasons to not be attainable. So yeah it's a bit overpowered.
My island has storms! And dragons! And sea elves! And more storms! And flying horses! And sharp rocks! And it's invisible! And it's got illusions all around it! And it's got sea monsters to protect it! Hah, bet your island doesn't have all that!
Visionary. They'd refer to themselves as a misunderstood visionary, monologue for a bit and then laugh maniacally whilst a storm with a good sense of dramatic timing thundered away in the background.
Hey It is my opinion or in a previous video you had said that after the Second sundering evermeet has returned to the material plane from the feywild??
Page 36 of Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes! "As a consequence of this rift, no elf would ever fully return to Corellon's embrace to enjoy life eternal in Arvandor."
Excelent video! There is a thing that always makes me confused: Isn't the creation of the tablets of faith by lord Ao also a "sundering"? Shouldn't that be the first? then if the sundering by the elves was actually the first, why the one made by Ao at the start of 5th edition be the seccond? isn't a sundering a separation of Abeir and Toril? I am so lost. lol Where do the elves go when they die? isn't it Arvandor? feels wierd that they might go to Feywild.
The first sundering was when Lord Ao tor apart Abeir and Toril into two separate planets. This was a long time ago during a war with the primordials. Then the "sundering" that took place to create Evermeet tapped into the same magic that Ao used to sunder the planet which is why it was called the Sundering. Then the "Second Sundering" occured when Abier and toril were back together in 4th edition and Lord Ao split them apart, again. It's confusing wibbly wobbly timey whimey.
@@thiagodalbo2905 It is mostly because WotC cannot keep their story straight, and often doesn't care or even wants to break with the past. (especially 4th edition).

Orcs, "Yeah, not fair. How are we supposed to rape and pillage?"
and the simbul... because try and stop her
"Just an island full of snooty elves"
is there any other kind of elf?
Moon elves aren't snooty
*spins around suddenly in chair* "Did you Evermeet the high elves?"

"Creation" sounds dope. Gonna be the name of my next Mage

I really appreciate these videos. Would be interested in other areas of the forgotten realms outside Faerun like Zakhara
That's in the works. Hopefully in a month or so. I want to do larger videos on both Zakhara and Kara-Tur.
Perfect timing! I just started making a character that came from Evermeet for a new campaign a few days ago.
So, what you're telling me is that Evermeet's tourism board is in a constant uphill battle...

"Oh, you will see..."
I love the Lore anytime you make it :D

ooo maybe! Must research :D
Glorious island lore!
Great video!
I wish these FR videos were a little longer. Great stuff though!
What about the cliffs of insanity?
This sounds like the origins of wonder woman.
These defenses are the medieval Normandy 😂
So I guess what those level of forces and defenses, an invasion or even a raid of the island is out up the question 🙂.
And then you swoop down in a flying spelljammer ship oops all your water hazards are for not now you silly elf lol
exactly! :D
but even then, its just an island full of snooty elves, so why go there in the first place? Exterminatus?
"within five miles of the island" include above it.... i'm pretty sure the queen could still sense it and teleport it away.

"Nevermeet"
Hey It is my opinion or in a previous video you had said that after the Second sundering evermeet has returned to the material plane from the feywild??
Elves still go to Arvendor when they die. Other then that I loved this lore post.
Only for a brief time. Then they are reincarnated.
wow the phased structure out and brought in fabricate... i love fabricate lol
Seriously? There's no way a non-elven party can sail to Evermeet !
As intended. If you make it to the isle not by ship someone had vouched for you.
There is one way... ask politely.
Jorphdan where did you get that Elves are forbidden into Arvandor?? Do you mean the Drow?
Page 36 of Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes!

RAZE EVERMEET TO THE GROUND! REVENGE FOR THE REST OF FAERUN!
How the heck am I ever supposed to get to Evermeet?
By asking politely?
see you next time man
I don't like how the elves can't go to Arvandor I would and I think they should change that one 😊.

Good thing the Elves of Evermeet dont have Angela Merkel as their leader! :)

Do when humans try high magic is not okay but when elves do that t is okay wow such double standards
