Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen!
I got this hand drill from a secondhand store, and had to give it some love!
Craftsman is a line of tools, lawn and garden equipment, and work wear. Originally a house brand established by Sears, the brand is now owned by Stanley Black & Decker.
As with all Sears products, Craftsman tools were not manufactured by Sears during that company's ownership, but made under contract by various other companies. They were first sold in 1927 through the Sears catalog and in Sears retail stores. After the Sears-Kmart merger, the tools were also for sale in Kmart stores and through several other retailers.
In March 2017, Stanley Black & Decker acquired the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings, which retained a limited license for Craftsman products.
The wax resist was genius!
First time I've seen someone use wax as a trim tape.
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you very much! I wanted to try something different and it worked quite well, funny thing I noticed is the paint that ended up on the wax did not dry at all, even when I left it to dry for 24 hours, it was still wet as if it was just sprayed on. It kinda got messy and I had to do a few off screen touch ups.
@@AJRestoration You're very welcome!! I wonder why it didn't dry? That's crazy I never would have thought that would have happened
My grandfather had one of these. He used to give me a block of wood, and I'd drill holes for hours while he worked on something in the garage. 😂🥰
Beautiful craftsmanship!! I loved how you used the wax.
One difference that sets you apart from most of restoration you tubers is when your done, it is bett than when it originally left factory. You take the time with the casted pieces and remove all of the marks and seams. Great job as always AJ
Wow, thank you!
My maternal grandfather and great grandfather had a few of those vintage hand drills for many generations. Too bad they were thrown away/given away many years ago after my grandfather passed away. Could've restored a couple of them for the fun of it.
Good job with this one. Looks and performs well again.
Healthy to your hands, good Job. And, wax and chuck design were interesting.
👏👏👏👏 Excellent work! Bravo to the master! Very much liked it!!!
Great idea with the wax.
Thank you! I didn't want to struggle with masking tape, so I thought of this Idea haha
Amazing work as always, keep the videos coming.
Interesting chuck design. Awesome restoration!👏🏻
Thanks 👍
Phenomenal restoration! The wax thing was pretty innovative! 👍
The chuck mechanism seemed surprisingly fragile, and yet it holds tight. Amazing job.
Great work, beautiful results and very good videography, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the wax trick, great work
Nicely done. Reminds me of drills my great-grandfather had. 👍
That is juts absolutely incredible what beautiful restoration. 👍👍
Great Job! The large handle should be hollow with a screw on cap to store drill bits.
That's a great idea actually!
Nice looking supply of wooden handles at your desposal
Whenever I see a nice handle I buy the item and salvage the handles, I always need handles somewhere.
@@AJRestoration that is a great idea to keep handle's on hand 👏👌
Great restoration
I always like see antique equipment given a second chance. Great restoration!
Thank you very much!
Very good. Haven't seen wax used so well before
Nicely done
Thank you! Cheers!
Always love the bird voices. Now there's lateral thinking if I ever saw it. 10:50 Lovely restoration of an old wheel brace. Those replacement handles suit it perfectly. Cheers.
I didn't want to struggle with masking tape, so I thought of this Idea haha
@@AJRestoration Great idea, it worked really well. Did you have to use any degreasing agent on any residue left from the wax? Or did it all scrape off cleanly?
The wheel brace is the bane of my existence. I'm left handed, drilling with RH drills so everything is backwards. This is the same with manual coffee grinders.
There was no residue, so it came off and that was it.
Damn, they should've made these things more inclusive
@@AJRestoration I didn't expect wax to come off clean like that. LH drills would solve the problem, but they are not readily available and more expensive. No chance of inclusiveness, LH people only make up 10% of the world's population. Cheers.
nice little trick with the wax masking. nice work
Thank you!
Nice job. Love those hand drills.
Glad you like them! Was a lot of fun!
😂 Does wifey / mom know you have her pan? 😂 Anyways good job as always! That tool brings back memories of me playing with my dad's tools. No wonder I became an aircraft mechanic😅
Haha I get my own pans at a charity store near me

👏👍👏👍👏👍✈️👍✈️👍👏👍👏👍👏👍
Just sent you an email .. the email addy looks a little dodge, but please do look out for it.
Sorry , but you go through all the detail work to restore the parts and don't make the decals? Rubbish IMO! The decals would have been the crowning touch! Next time research and remake the decals to have a COMPLETE restoration otherwise it's just a "spray job" with no restored value.
Finding a good sample of the original decal online to make a decal myself was extremely hard. The decals cant be bought online or anywhere. So that means I have to make it myself. If you can make/source a original decal for this drill I will gladly make a short video of it and credit you in the video. I will also pay shipping no problem.
