I've had the 1.6 multijet Lounge for nearly 8 months. Mainly used for my daily commute of 40+ miles each way most of which is motorway and usually a lot of stop/start driving with the congestion. Trip A is currently showing 58 mpg for the last 450 miles and trip B hasn't been reset for a while and is showing 56.5 mpg for the last 4000 miles. Will do 60+ with a bit of care. Re the handbrake, if you were just moving the car the auto-handbrake only disengages if your seat belt is buckled. I learnt that lesson !

Thanks for the info that is really interesting. Good to see you are getting some decent mpg. Also thanks for the handbrake tip...I was indeed just moving it between spaces in a private car park so no seatbelt!

This is a really useful actual driver review which has really helped me decide between the 500x and a Nissan Juke. In-depth and actually covers the features 'ordinary drivers' are really interested in. Well done.

Thanks John, my reviews are as real as I can possibly make them. They are about what a car really feels like rather than endless stats.

nissan juke is a joke..... wtf ahahahahahahahaa i dont think this car is much better.... its gonna flop in america..... but works in uk cuz of the smaller roads then america....

Smaller roads, higher fuel costs and a lot of people in the UK and Europe as a whole really like small cars. There are lot of reasons why different people like and need different cars.

I'm loving the look of the 500x to the point where it's currently sitting at the top of my 'next car' list alongside the VW Tiguan. I'll have to test drive both to make my mind up in the end, but the 500x is looking the more likely of the two.

It is great car and keeps a lot of the "cool" 500 kit too.

Sat in a cross plus today 1.6 diesel, really impressed by the quality interior and equipment, will take a test drive soon to make up my mind, why only a two year warranty from Fiat?

Nice Review, very helpful I'm just looking to get one for my daughter, I'm wondering what's best, the 1.4 petrol or the 1.6 diesel either would be automatic

The handbrake won't release unless you have your seat belt on, it may have been that? Great review.

Thanks Lauren....that makes sense now but seems a bit silly.

I have had the handbrake not releasing too. My seat belt was on etc. Rather embarrassing when you want to make off from a set of traffic lights and all you get is revs and some clutch smell. It's definitely hit and miss.

That's interesting to hear...so it may not have been just me!

Once again...sp glad it was not just me. Its very odd. I will ask Fiat about it and let you know if its a known issue.
