James Brown: "Not only was I a fan of Elvis, but we were brothers"! B.B.King: "Elvis Presley always came to us back then, when he was still unknown and could go out on his own. Elvis was one of us"! little Richard: "Elvis Presley has done more for us blacks than any politician in the world"!

Elvis wasn't 'The King of Pop', he was simply 'THE KING', end of story. Elvis was unique in the fact that he had no previous example to draw upon, and was his own creation, whereas Michael Jackson and all the others who came after Elvis, were merely a continuation of what went before them. As the saying goes, 'before anyone did anything, Elvis did everything' - and in regard to changing music and poplar culture forever to allow those after him to follow, then that accolade belongs to Elvis.

Michael Jackson fans never really knew until after the passing of MJ and Elvis how important Elvis was to Michael's solo career. For whatever reason, MJ just was unable to admit while alive to his OBVIOUS influence and attraction to Elvis' stage presentation, clothing, and the way in which he carried himself ON and OFF stage.
Elvis was THE FIRST MEGA STAR, and MJ went to school learning everything that he could. When Presley died, he hired much of Elvis' staff. UNDENIABLE EVIDENCE that the King of Pop was heavily influenced by the KING OF ROCK Elvis Presley.
    1. MJ hired Elvis' best friend JOE ESPOSITO to manage his career,
    2. MJ hired Elvis' CONCERT PROMOTER AEG Live co-CEO Paul Gongaware.
    3. MJ hired Elvis' COSTUME DESIGNER Bill Belew (he created outfits for Elvis, the JACKSON 5, then MJ),
    4. ... in addition to all the similar dance moves
    5. ... in addition and arm and leg movements
    6. ... in addition to their desire to create music videos... elaborate video representations of their songs
    7. They BOTH lived in THEMED TWO STORY HOMES, Elvis called his escape home Graceland, while MJ decided to call his escape home Neverland.
    8. MJ attempted to duplicate Elvis' success in Hollywood, and before his death had made a cameo appearance in Men in Black, and released Moonwalker in 1988, an anthology movie combined with a fantasy tale with Michael’s confrontation with a drug dealer, with limited theatrical release.
    9. MJ even went into commercials... Elvis for Southern Maid donuts, and MJ for Pepsi, even though he hated Pepsi... but Elvis did a commercial so.....
10: Merchandise: MJ studied what Col Tom Parker did with Elvis' Merchandise.
and a bonus # 11: Elvis had a few monkeys. His first once he purchased before moving into Graceland. Most famously, Elvis bought a pet monkey that he called Scatter who supposedly got drunk on Elvis' movie sets on a few occasions, and MJ bought a monkey and he named it Bubbles.
Ok Last One I promise: MJ literally writes a song called... Heartbreak Hotel. Where Elvis co-created a musical art form, MJ largely built on one.
Where Elvis changed sexual mores in the conservative wake of World War II (in a very rebellious way that threatened his life with imprisonment and death threats), Michael built on what Elvis began with more sexually suggestive choreographed dance moves. And where Elvis, expanding on James Dean's work, harnessed a burgeoning youth culture that rebelled against the social elites in the 50's youth revolution, the 60's sexual revolution, and the 50's and 60s civil rights movement, MJ drew more attention to it. MJ did it brilliantly ... but his cultural impact pales in comparison to Presley's'.
Elvis came along at just the time the first identifiable generation of teenagers were about to substitute a drive for freedom for their parents' drive for security. 'With the change in values came a change in music and you had the impact of what became rock and roll'. 'Elvis stood at the cusp of that generational revolution. TV + YOUTH REVOLUTION ... and Elvis just ran away with the football.
MJ really did copy as much as he could from Elvis, and that's OK... because MJ put HIS SPIN on it, but LET'S BE HONEST and call it straight down the line, MJ VERY CLEARLY was inspired by Elvis Presley and how he defined himself as a SUPERSTAR and legend. I respect Elvis and MJ for being the TWO KINGS of MUSIC that they are. Brilliantly fan-made Elvis' and Michael Jackson's "I Got A Feeling in my Body" studies some of Elvis' moves that MJ picked up on and included in his stage presentation.

Elvis DIDNT name Graceland, that's the name it came with. It was named after Grace Toof, the aunt of Ruth Brown Moore, the original owner of the property. Ruth’s aunt, Grace, was a female relative of the S.C. Toof family, who had owned the land for generations. The Moores built the mansion in 1939 and named it after Grace Toof in her honor.
It’s worth noting that there is no direct connection between Elvis Presley and the original naming of Graceland. Elvis purchased the property in 1957 and made it his home, but the name “Graceland” predates his ownership and is rooted in the property’s history with the Toof family and the Moores.

It is also true that some music historians say that Elvis Presley invented the pop sound. It is also true that Elvis' last Caddilac was sold a few weeks ago, with the title: "The last car of the ""King of Pop"" Elvis Presley"! In 2014 (?) an Elvis house was sold (not Graceland) with the title: "This is how the "King of Pop" lived - Elvis Presley!

Michael said he copied his dance moves from Elvis. He wanted to be Elvis so much that he married Elvis' daughter. I never saw Michael play a musical instrument. Elvis could play them all.Michael choreographed his stage move. Elvis just went with the rhythm. Elvis had 5o different singing voices. Michael only sang falsetto. Elvis actually was an 8th degree black belt..a true bad ass, military trained and an expert rifleman. Elvis served his country honorably and drove tanks, Michael could never have been accepted in the military, Michael has a tenth of Elvis' beauty, talent and charisma. he was not the highest paid actor of his time. Elvis was. Elvis holds the world record for concert attendance says Guiness. Sony says Elvis sold more than 4 billion recordings worldwide. Michael is not close.Elvis was so popular that both Democrat and Republicans wanted him as VP candidate, Never was Michael considered. He was too weird and an accused pedophile. Elvis was/is popular with every age group..not Michael. My age group and older despise him for the freak he turned himself into . 23 years after his death, Elvis was named Entertainer of the Century with his short career of22 years, He beat out the Beatles, Michael and Frank Sinatra whose careers were twice as long, and in spite of Michael's Thriller. I was alive during both men. Joe Esposito was Elvis' and Michael's road manager. He said Michael's crowd connection and reaction paled to Elvls. I concur, I lived through both men's popularity. Elvis became a god. Michael and Elizabeth Taylor came up with a plan to market Michael. They came up with calling him king of pop. Musical peers named Elvis King. AS Elvis says, Jesus is king, but Elvis is the King of Music. FYI, Elvis was so popular that the US government still credits Elvis as ending the polio epidemic. No other entertainer did such. Elvis is credited by Hungary as saving 50 million of Hungarians from starvation. Elvis hada a photographic memory and was double jointed..not Michael.

Elvis gave the conservative post-WWII generations of young people something new, something of their own, something they never had.

I greatly dislike the way some Elvis & MJ fans will nastily pit these two against each other in order to prover their favorite is better. That being said, Michael Jackson was influenced by Elvis by the mere fact that he created content in modern music whose birth was Elvis Presley's paradigm shifting career (which can still be felt today) and MJ also clearly took other overt inspirations from Elvis artistically whether he liked to admit it or not. It doesn't take away from either one as artist, everyone has their favorites, and both made timeless hits.

Elvis was crowned King by the media in the 50s. Which he didn't like to be called King
Elvis said there is only one King and that is Jesus Christ
Unlike Michael Jackson who crowned himself King

Elvis is The King of Music for sure, but in late 2003 The Daily Mail newspaper stated 'The Real King Of Pop' as Sir Cliff Richard. Both Prince and Cliff (and certainly Elvis) have much, much better voices than Michael Jackson. You could call Michael 'The King of Dancing' but never The King Of Singing Rock 'n' Roll or Pop, or any other music. No way!🥰

Main differences: Michael really wanted to beat Elvis's record; Elvis wasn't trying to beat anyone's record but his own. Elvis was dubbed the King of Rock & Roll in 1956 by the media; Michael insisted that all media address him as the King of Pop. Majority of Elvis's dance moves were original that he came up with on his own except for in the movies where he worked with choreographers to do dance moves that fit into his own dance style. Michael always worked with choreographers; he didn't come up with any of his own dance moves. Elvis's dress style(s) were all his own; Michael incorporated a lot of Elvis dress styles into his performances. Elvis could sing basically any type of music from R&B to Rockabilly, Gospel, the Blues & country. Michael was predominantly a pop singer. Michael refused to admit that he took inspiration (in most ways) from Elvis. Elvis paid homage to Black artists that he drew inspiration from both in interviews & on stage.
Both had a massive amount of fans and both had fans that liked both artists. However, Elvis was the original. Thanks for the video; I'd not seen it before & thank you for your review.

Elvis was better in every way. I do love MJ, but he was a warm, milky cup of tea in comparison to Elvis's energised full-bodied rich roast... in sound and looks.
MJ was programmed to be great, Elvis was born great.
For me, always Elvis, he was a walking orgasm and endured all the extreme fame and pitfalls without any advice, any image consultants nor blueprint of how to navigate being the first global superstar. MJ claimed not to rate Elvis, at least Tito had the balls to admit it. Elvis even endorsed The Jackson 5 and encouraged people to go see them live. Elvis had morw class in his little finger than MJ had in his entire body. MJ emulated Elvis , no doubt about it and he'd never have criticised him. But remember the jealous and bitter Quincy Jones who bullied MJ over Billy Jean, said that Elvis was a racist, all because he didn’t get the conductor's job for Elvis's live shows...
For me, Elvis wins hand down, he was better, sexier, more natural and his vocals were stronger live. MJ had to mime half the time because he was a dancer & singer. Elvis was a singer, musician and producer who happened to dance beautifully and was the most beautiful man who ever lived. Can't beat that ❤

    • @Hidden_Minds
      @Hidden_Minds  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Let’s set the record straight: Elvis didn’t steal music, and comparing him to Michael Jackson doesn’t hold up. Take “Hound Dog” as an example-Big Mama Thornton didn’t write it; Leiber and Stoller did. Elvis took the song, gave it his own style, and turned it into a global hit. That’s what Elvis did: he didn’t just perform songs; he transformed them into timeless classics.
Even decades after his death, Elvis is still a cultural icon, with new movies like Elvis (2022) and millions visiting Graceland every year. He mastered multiple genres-rock, pop, gospel, blues, and country-earning places in three different Halls of Fame. Michael Jackson dominated pop, but he didn’t have the versatility or range that Elvis did.
Elvis also broke cultural barriers, introducing rhythm and blues to mainstream audiences in a segregated America. He always gave credit to the Black artists who inspired him and brought their music to a global stage, opening doors for countless others.
Elvis wasn’t just an artist; he was a cultural phenomenon. Michael Jackson was great, but his impact doesn’t come close to what Elvis achieved. That’s why, even today, Elvis remains The King.

The video you're reacting to is stupid. Most of the comparisons weren't even that similar and or they took inspiration from the same places. MJ has stated repeatedly that his musical inspirations were James Brown, Jackie Wilson, Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis Jr., And Motown. Could he have been inspired by Elvis career wise? Sure. Were some of the clothes similar? Some but most of them were far fetch. I mean MJ and Elvis both wearing red and black suit? Wearing Gold clothes? Come on, that's to copying that's just show business.
