I like how one guy here has the cadets not even in the top six when on Friday they beat every corps he has ahead of them. Some by quite the margin already.
Madison Scouts put on a very entertaining show - it is their 75th anniversary - I was shocked that the judges actually agreed and gave them third place behind Cadets and PR. I was also shocked what a good show the Troopers did - very well done - and they performed second. I agree completely on BD. I can't think of a show they did that I wanted to watch again. Cadets are using those gleaming flat metal coated bar things again this year - anyone know what those are called - just another gimick
I don't know about Carolina Crown.. I mean they are performing the shit out of their show right now in that rehearsal video that's posted, but with the voice over counting I think it's almost WGI-like. Just kind of weird, and not something I imagined Crown doing.
there is a reason why it will be difficult for Phantom to ever truly compete for a championship: they base their show and performance for the people who pay money to sit in the bleachers to lose themselves in their sound as opposed to designing their shows for the judges. They will never be able to truly compete with the self-serving shows that BD and Crown are putting on this year. Sheerly from a technical standpoint yet alone their 'artistic' statements. For the record I am a huge Phanfan.
Luke dude it's not about the judges yes it is nice to win a championship or win shows. But to put on a show of a life time sometimes won't get you a championship. Who knows maybe you perform one night and a kid somewhere in a podunk town see the shows and make that choice in life to join a corps and experience first hand what it means to be in a Drum Corps. It's more then the awards it's about the brotherhood and sisterhood and the family and friends that you make while in the corps.
Crown may not do as much in musicality but they do have pretty good dynamics and excel in technicality. Crown's brass has incredibly clean technical spots such as their articulation. And their music is no walk in the park. Not to mention they create a really clean and beautiful sound despite blasting a lot air through their horns.
Cadets beat PR last night in Bowling Green. I never understand the Cadets shows and I never enjoy most of their music. Their show is "Side by Side", but I never saw or understood anything about that theme as I watched the show. And then they pushed these huge geometric rectangular things around the field that seemed to have nothing to do with the show - I just don't "get" the Cadets or how they could beat PR - yes I know they are good, but I just did not enjoy the show or the music.
Are you trolling.. haha CC does have freaking crazy Dynamics. Yes Phantom Regiment has great musicality but CC is just out of this world with Dynamics, music, and performance.
BD stopped performing for the crowd years ago. Yeah they perform nice shows but it's getting to the point to where it's almost the same shtick every year. Crown has performed three totally different shows in the past three years. I promise you it's not for the judges. But I'll say this right now it will be between Phantom and Crown for the Championship this year.
yeah, it's a lil overpowering but its only b/c of the composers almost exact composition they're using. personally i dislike vocals of that nature in any show, DCI, WGI, etc etc. but hey, i'm sure they'll have it nice and polished come finals :-) GO CROWN! we need a new order in the Top 3! i'm tired of seeing BD up there.
the amount of goose-bumps i got from this is unnatural. amazing job this year phantom!!
Phantom always has such amazing passion in their music.
One word- Championship..............!!!!!!!!!!!
Nimrod is just so beautiful. I can't even get over it.
They look great, and sound amazing.
Would be happy if PR or Crown takes it this year. Both great shows!
Love Nimrod!! Always have...
OH. MY. GOD. Their ballad is this good now?! I am going to have a HEART ATTACK when I hear it in August!
Some great shows lined up for 2013...it's gonna be a tight competition!
I saw them in Murfreesboro, TN and they were amazing!!!
I just might have to agree with you on that one. Crown's making some huge leaps to get to the top.
That closer gave me chills

The ballad is so nice
DJ Bennett if I’m correct, the ballad is nimrod by sir Edward Elgar
Also Nimrod on Oboe!!!! Great show!
Carolina Crown, Phantom Regiment one World Champion 2013 :)

Hmmm... I love Carolina crowns ballad from second chance...

❤❤
Nobody beats the Regiment.
I saw them in Murfresspp
1. Phantom 2. Blue Devils 3. Crown 4. Cadets 5. SCV 6. Cavaliers

Intonation hurt this performance

Playing for the audience > Playing for judges
im a tuba but thing i worry about most is intonation thats my down fall other than that im an ok tuba

I DON'T THINK ALL THESE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND!

crown's visual / GE scores will suffer this season because of their ugly ass new uniforms... 1) SCV 2) Phantom 3) Coats 4) BAC 5) BD 6) Cavies
