    For a fast insect, it sure does take its time to eat.😂😂😂😂

    I’m glad they are small. Imagine that thing the size of a dog or something. You’d probably would not get a chance to shoot it if it darted out the wood line at you so quickly.

      They are blind while they run because their thought process doesn't match their physical speed, therefore, the whole world will be blurry for them. I'm sure we could find a way to make use of that knowledge if it were a threat.

      not only that, but amazingly strong, an dog insect will tear apart your car, lifting it in the air like a leaf.

      I did the math and if the tiger beetle was the same size as a cheetah (not including tail) it would be able to run 1040.4 km/h.

    The way bugs masticate is so much more complex than how animals do.

    I’m keeping 2 Japanese tiger beetles (the one I’m the vid) they are very friendly and won’t hurt even if they bit you. They are fast and will try to run and fly a lot. They will also eat normal meat ^^

      Plus, the angle used here is too low to the ground to get with a tripod, you would be be better off handheld, used the ground for support

    interesting bug .... they are endangered where i live and just found out where they are i love how your camera captured every detail of the Tiger Beetle what kind of camera was used for the video ? i want one that shows that much detail thats why im asking

      The camera is a Panasonic FZ200 with a screw mounted Raynox DCR-150 closeup lens. Getting a sharp video that close to the Tiger Beetle could only be done with a closeup lens like that.

    Where is the 'running'?

  • @ChuffIed
    @ChuffIed 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    that thing doesnt seem like it can perform anything other than explosive movement, either it is somehow built in such a way that it cannot move like that or it just is not able to process even the idea of doing it in any way

    • @Surefire11B
      @Surefire11B 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's actually your second statement. With that speed does not come an increased speed of perception. The beetle, much like us, is unable to perceive or "see" anything around it while it runs because everything turns into an unseeable blur at those speeds. The beetle is basically blind while it runs so it has to stop to see.

      They are beasts but there are many insects that would win in a fight against the tiger beetle, but the beetles tactics always seem to work the hit hard then retreat then charge back surprising the other insect

      Predators of tiger beetles include dragonflies, robber flies, other tiger beetles, birds, and small vertebrates. Mites are also known to parasitize tiger beetles.

      (They can run fast enough their brain can't keep up, so there's those issue's I'd assume too. X-D)

      On Ebay the FZ200 is about $250 used (it came out in 2012 so there are probably a lot of used ones around) and the Raynox is $55 (also on Ebay). You would also need a converter ring to screw in the Raynox lens to the front of the camera (it's a step down ring 52mm to 43mm) and that's about $1 from China (Ebay again). So for about $300 you're ready to go.
