I'm a guy and Its so hard to find other guys talking about rbt stuff. Not that I'm against working in a female dominated field at all, but a part of me has felt nervous cause I almost feel like, as a man, I don't belong in this field. Which I know logically is dumb, but it still helps to see other men doing this sorta work. Its definitely helped ease my nerves. So thanks for the video my man, please keep making your content!
Do you have your own business in this field? I know this is a personal question, but I'm located in Florida. Just starting my career as an RBT and would like to work at a company that gives a person all the necessary tools and guidance to be successful, long-term.
Hi Ricky! New subscriber & new to the field. I’m currently looking for jobs & your channel is super informative. Thank you so much for sharing your experience & insights! 👍
Just recently discovered this field. I grew up with a sister with autism and unfortunately, she never got the help she needed. I want other kids that are like her to get the help they need, and I want to be someone to help them. Thanks so much for the video homie. Gonna start looking into becoming certified and go from there
Hi Ricky! I’m new to your channel and loving it. I’ve been an RBT for almost 4 years now and worked with children for 12. My first client ever was in-home and I had no training or shadowing. I was doing the 40 hour course and testing sites were closed due to Covid, so I wasn’t even technically an RBT yet. I didn’t know that companies not offering shadowing opportunities or training was a big red flag at the time as I was just starting out and thought that being thrown in was how it was done. Thank you for adding that bit of information to this video because my current company proved the importance of ongoing training and shadowing which I hadn’t known when I started. Hopefully this video will help future RBTs recognize the red flags!! Thank you again!
I have a interview for this coming up Friday i have experience in the field but it was through a nonprofit I Excelled got an office everything, but it's time I move on from dealing with adults with heavy ptsd...I was honest about my felony the organization said thank you see you soon. Fingers crossed
I appreciate you! I start onboarding, and training tomorrow with an agency. I’m excited and looking around for more information so I can better prepare myself. This was short and sweet n had all the important information I was searching for. Thank you!
Hi my name is sarah I am interested in becoming a registered behavior technician . who do you contact for certification and training. please reply back thanks.
Amazing video man. As a black man myself working in this field going on 2 years (BT). Going for me RBT I’m looking forward to the rest of your videos. I currently work at a mental hospital so I work with a wide range of ages and usually there already in a bad mode etc. So I’m just used to working in a hectic and hostile environment. I’m trying to get a feel for what working for a school or company will be like and going to peoples homes.
This happened to me as well when I first started. I felt like the training was so fast that when it was time to interact with the kiddos I was lost and confused. I did get to shadow tho. Great video thank you.
Thanks for commenting! Yes, it can be a lot thrown at you at once but as you continue to work with your clients it becomes easier over time because you have an idea of what to expect.
You're right. The BACB was founded in 1998. It is a new feild but valid like speech therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, etc. ABA therapy is an evidence based intervention that is proven to help those with autism and other developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges. It's new and it's changing a lot. According to the website, "BACB’s mission is to protect consumers of behavior-analytic services by systematically establishing, promoting, and disseminating professional standards of practice."
Hi my name is Mrs. Sarah I am interested in becoming a registered Behavior Technician , I need the information on companies who would sponsor me or the information on the testing and training information.

Thnx so much Ricky for the information of insisting on shadowing when newly employed. This video makes a lot of sense, I appreciate.

why not more training for such an important and difficult to understand field? Any focus on nutrition and gut biome in your training?
I have worked in SLC in my local school district that have behavioral problems. These videos would be beneficial for me.

Where and why did this profession develop? It was unheard of 25 years ago.

maybe they should have an main emphasis on diet and biome. All of these approaches. Why the neglect?@@clementineslaughter6904

There are a lot of jobs that will do paid training. You maybe contracted to work for them for a year or so
Do you need an agency to get started? Everyone keeps mentioning it and I’ve tried calling different agency and ever get a response
Hello Ricky, I am currently interested in obtaining my RBT certification. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you.
I need to ask, I have a Bs, & a Ms, in Psychology. What do you recommend? RBT or BCBA Thanks
