Great video Jim thanks for sharing the ride around the trail I really enjoyed the trip and you could tell it as cool when you came off the ferry the steam was coming off the exhaust take care buddy have a great week
That surely was one awesome adventure!! Always a treat to get back home though...nothing like it! Sure am hoping to get to CB this year, but time will tell. What I really want is to finally get to Newfoundland!!
Thanks for another great video. I’m always surprised by your October shots with no snow. You know what they say about assuming. Can’t wait to see new bike and new season . Ps you are still my hero, so keep um coming .
I plan on keeping them coming. Usually we don't see snow til the last week of October and it doesn't really stay. But it can be cold and wet. I think Canadian Thanksgiving is a good time to be back on the island. This was one week later than that.
I love fall riding. Had the colours changing from North Carolina to Newfoundland. I agree that the East Coast is especially pretty at that time of year.
Hey Jim, I have made the Cabot Trail trip twice, ccw. This is the year I try it cw. After watching your video I am excited to make the trip. Then I will spend two weeks touring the island again. Can hardly wait. Catch you on your next video.
Always nice to be riding "home". Great video. Loved those colors in the park. Just an FYI, Don was in accident on May 25. He's somewhat okay. Will keep you posted.
I remember riding my 1984 Goldwing Aspencade around the Cabot Trail almost (Wow!) 25!!! years ago! Then I took the ferry out to Newfoundland. Great memories. I thought a lot of the Cabot Trail was like riding in Glacier or Yellowstone National Parks, just with the ocean half way up the mountains...Good times! {!-{>
The Trail is always a good ride and if you can add riding in Newfoundland as a bonus, can make for a really good trip. Sounds like it's time you did it again.
Nice to see you again Jim. Haven't watched for a while. Looks like you had an amazing day on the Cabot Trail with perfect weather, especially for October!
It was a great day... editing just made me remember it all the more. You haven't come up in my feed for a bit. I think the last of yours I watched was the bike show. Putting another 6 weeks in at the theatre and then head west, sojuth, east and home. Should be out on the road for 3 months. Now riding a 30 year old Goldwing.
I'm just getting my bike and trailer set up! I've got an Eaglemate single-wheel trailer behind my Yamaha Bolt - and I'm out in Alberta. Can't wait to take it out and try camping in the Mountains. It's not a tent-trailer like yours, but I do enjoy a tent, or hammock. Would LOVE to ride out East and check out Nova Scotia (Mom was from Springhill, and I spent 10 weeks in CFB Cornwallis)... Do the Cabot Trail and out to the Rock. Pretty country!
I'm a believer that any kind of trailer just makes extended motorcycle trips that much easier to do. The older I get, the less minimalist I become. Lots of lovely country on the East Coast.
Miss your videos, how is getting a Goldwing going. I believe one of the reasons I like your videos is we are about the same age and you move at a pace that seems not to fast or slow.
I still need to slow down a little more. Getting used to retirement pace is hard lol. I've had the new-to-me GL1500 on my side of the island for most of a month. Got 1,000+ km on her already even with cold weather. I like her. Videos to follow.
I'm riding the new-to-me Wing. Weather still pretty cold and wet here but prepping to get on the road in July. I think I'm up for 3 months on the road.
My mind thinks I'm 35 but I'll turn 71 in a month. I'll keep the videos coming as long as I can hold a bike up... but might get a sidecar if I needed to.
@@davidallen3284 One should try to run it both ways but as I am usuallly headed to the ferry clockwise works for me and the views are great. Been a while sincer I editied that video so I may have said that.
@@OldGuyonaBike I must try to get on it again next summer. That’d be about my fifth or sixth time in the past five decades, most of them on a bike. Can’t attach photos here, right?
@@davidallen3284 Unfortunately I don't think you can. You can add YT links. If you want you can email me jimgcg@gmail.com Have you toured Newfoundland?
I really appreciate your videos! I have been considering pulling a trailer behind my 2010 ST1300. I live in the Southwest USA and was wondering If you have experience in high heat conditions ~100F. Does the ST1300 do OK in the heat with engine temp (overheating)?
I have only had the engine overheat once and that was in 35C/95F temps one summer in the middle of Newfoundland. Lots of roadwork and long stops. After 50C/122F on the gauge it just started to flash and I pulled over and let it rest for half an hour. I might have been down on coolant too. Heat build up under the plastic. Once I was able to get to highway speed after that, no problem. In 2008 I was in the southwest. Las Vegas was 44C/111F. Had a couple of days in a row of that. Bike did fine but we didn't. Ended up spending a day in a cheap hotel with AC and travelled at night to Los Angeles. I wasn't hauling the trailer then. On this video series, in Mississppi and Alabama I was running in 35C/95F temps for a number of days and the bike was fine with the trailer. I was stopping to hydrate every hour.
Good one, Jim. Really looking forward to seeing that new bike. I think you have the suspense built up real well. LOL.
Love the picture in picture.
I thought the 2 views on that switchback were too nice to cut up.
Loved all of the trip and especially the Cabot Trail.
Can't wait to see the new GW for the 2024 season.
It's going to be in video soon.
After the trail both ways I would agree, for at least while driving on a motorcycle..............What a trip what a trip.
The whole thing was a "trip of a lifetime" but I think I will do at least as epic again this summer and fall.
Another great video of some beautiful areas I have never been to. Thanks for sharing Jim.
With the leaves turning in the fall it is special but still really nice when eveerything is green.
Always enjoy your video , was riding today my ryker 220 km Montreal to Tremblant , nice day.
I'm getting out for a few hours every couple of days getting used to the new-to-me Wing. Spring comes late to Newfoundland.
Great video Jim thanks for sharing the ride around the trail I really enjoyed the trip and you could tell it as cool when you came off the ferry the steam was coming off the exhaust take care buddy have a great week
Yes Tom, it was a little "crisp" coming off the ferry. About as late in the year as I can safely do it. I had a good day on the Trail as well.
Enjoyed the ride. Want to ride in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland someday. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Thanks for coming along. I think everyone whould ride the Atlantic Provinces... you just need lots of time to do it right.

Newfoundland is worth a 3 week visit.

I do it at least every couple of years. Still really love riding around Gros Morne though. I'll have a planning video for this summer up soon.
Jim been wondering about you!!!!!!!! Surely you got your new ride and getting ready for summer riding!!!
Got the "new" old Goldwing. So far I am impressed. Videos soon and hit the road July 9th.

Yes, please keep me up to date. Hope he gets much better than somewhat real soon.
Hi, Old Guy on the ST1300. I own one and I respect the bike because of you Old Guy. Victor from South Africa your best friend.

Ate a big bucket of muscles at Rusty Anchor on our trip in 2019
I've had fishcakes, battered fish and lobster rolls... gotta try the mussells one of these times.

Doing the Trail clockwise is kinda counter the majority recommendation. Why is it your preference?
Oops. Never mind. I wrote that at the 15-minute mark

@@OldGuyonaBike Thank you very much!
Great video! Have you got the new Wing yet?
I've put about 1,000 km on her. Weather still not spring here. Working fulltiime and getting prepped to be on the road in July.
are you going to have a motorcycle on the road for this ( 2024 ) summer .?
I most certainly am. I'll be riding a very nicely kept 1994 Goldwing 1500. Intro video coming soon.
Did you have to go searching for tie down straps in that section of the boat?
There were 3 sets hanging near me but I think that was about it. Not too many bikes on the ship mid-October.
Have you spoken with Don / Motogiant?
Exchanged messages a couple of days ago. Will keep in contact.
