I love a lot of the Amtraks I see in videos on the East Coast. The ones which go through here are less impressive. I like the old Zephyrs from back in the day. The Acelas are quite sharp. Still, This has both a German design but American livery, so it is a winner for me.

Hi Teri! As you know, I am also iffy with PIKO. I find a lot of their "HOBBY" range to be poorly made, mechanically. Wagons and coaches are fine. So, we will see how well this one runs, but it is very sharp looking for sure.
Really nice train my friend 👍 and the sound is like what I remember from my trips to Germany. Never noticed before that one of the carriages has a door in the middle is that the same on the DB I-CE 3 ?

As Andy says, this model is the best of both worlds for me... a German style but American livery... so, even if fictional, it was a no-brainer. As for the Dodge Hoodie... let's just say I have a LOT of Dodge wear. Have to keep it in the family. Cheers!
Awesome new model Anthony! I really like the Amtrak ICE 3, but I personally think it would look better in a newer livery (Phase IV or newer), even then someone runs it alongside their Bachmann Acelas. I still haven't got my first model high speed train yet, but it will definitely be a Piko ICE 3.
Hello, Owen! I was looking at the newest Lemke Amtrak modern-era locos, but I was not finding current-era coaches in my price range or at all. This just caught my fancy as it is the German ICE3 and in Amtrak livery. The combo just appealed to me in a way the real American trains don't.

Hi, Collin! I do not know that I will get more American Trains. I still like the Lemke Amtrak locos just released, but they are all 2-Rail. I also have seen a set of NY Central and even Baltimore & Ohio passenger wagons from the 50s that I think are gorgeous, but I have to be sensible. Take care!
Now that you mention it, Clive, I have heard that term int he UK many times. In the US, I know we use "Fallen Flag" for companies/liveries which no longer exist, and I think I had heard "false flags" for fictional. Oh, well, folks get what I mean. And, as you say, it looks good either way.

Hoi, Mick! There are kits specifically designed for it. It is more the hassle and dealing with the wiring with the pole-couplings this unit has.

@@ModelTrainOutsider Yes they do. The restaurant car has a central service door on one side. Piko would not alter the moulding for such a model.
